You son of a bicuit, Guru. I had a worthwhile and all together useful, on topic post to post, but then you KILLED IT AGAIN! So I will just post it here. Muahahahah!
I apologise, Dashing. I forgot to mention.... This is a rant free thread. Thank you.
But in all seriousness, despite how ridiculous it may sound, I would not abuse my mod powers. Frankly, I'd be too scared too! :P And I know where the line is, and though I may tap my feet on the other side, abusing mod powers would be taking much too far of a leap for me. (Also, my first official act would be a ban on Fawful. Already decided.)
Damn, just lost the post I've been typing for the last 10 minutes or so. It wasn't that long but a combination of factors means that it took longer than whatever normal is for me to type it. And I can't be bothered trying to recreate it now so I'm just going to leave this.

Mwahahaha, abusing Pokemon's GTS like this is so awesome.
Speaking of pkmn, I really, really hope there's actually more than 8 boxes in BW. How in the ****ing hell am I supposed to catch them all if I won't even have the space necessary to do it =/
To answer that I might as well try and recreate what I had typed. So here goes.
Basically I've temporarily moved into my parents' house while they are on holiday in Cyprus to look after their pets. I also accompanied them to the airport in Manchester which is, if you're not aware, on the on the west side of this country and I live on the east coast, both in the north of England. The round journey took about 5 hours which is a long time to be sitting in a car for.
Now there are longer journeys in this country, like say from here to London which is about a 10 to 12 hour round trip, depending on time of day & traffic. Which is for me a very very long time in a car. I really don't like long car journeys probably mainly because I don't drive and so I am always just a passenger and if I'm not on a journey to go visit somewhere I'm just there to keep the driver company. I much prefer to travel by train which doesn't seem to take as long, even though time wise they usually do (and often are longer than car trips) but it is easier to be distracted on a train and they're usually more comfortable.
But these types of thought get me thinking about comparing travel times to a country like the USA. And most of the time I just can't get my head around it. For instance, the trip I took across the width of England today took me about 2 and a half hours. To do the same kind of trip in the USA (coast to coast) would take about 15 to 20 times as long (depending on departure point and destination). Now I just can't imagine a road journey that would involve 40 odd hours of just driving. Obviously that couldn't really happen in one block of 40 hours (though I suppose it could if the driver was rotated and that there was enough space for the non-driving drivers to sleep when not driving) so really all the stops you would have to do would vastly increase the time it took to do the trip.
As much as I can't imagine it, I would love to experience it - devote at least two weeks to crossing the USA, hell what I really would like to do is try to go through the 48 contiguous states. Probably need about a month to do that, just so that the trip isn't just about driving from state to state. So to sum up, I can't really picture road trips across big distances (unlike air travel, which I just associate with long journeys). I guess that stems from the fact that I rarely need to make more than a 30 mile round trip to get to somewhere I need to be and even then I usually travel that sort of distance by train.
[Well that wasn't too bad, started off similarly to my original post but evolved quite differently whilst still retaining most of the salient points I wanted to make. Now, time to copy all of this as a backup.]

Opera is the best browser for this reason. Back loads a cache of the webpage, including any text you entered but failed to submit for one reason or another.
What I noticed is that you perceive distances differently here. For instance, there was a friend back in France I only saw a few times a year because she lived so far away (actually about an hour). Everybody I talked to about it found it perfectly normal that we could barely ever see each other due to the distance and the trouble of making such a trip.
Here, Seamus's commute to work is double that. And back in Canada, getting to the city took over an hour. And you needed to if you wanted to catch a movie, or buy something that wasn't the complete basic food, or buy clothes, or do pretty much anything you can't do online. And I thought it wasn't far!
But then again I think about my commute to school, and it took an hour too. But it was in public transit and within the same city, so it never did seem far even though it was the same amount of time...
When I took the bus from Vegreville to Vancouver, it took 24 hours, and that's maybe a third of Canada length-wise. Granted, it's a bus so it stops to pick up people and let others out.
I actually really like being in a car. It's very relaxing for me. I used to fall asleep every single time I was in a car for longer than a very short trip. Even to this day I have to fight to keep my attention, if someone is talking to me for instance. It also feels weird being in a car and not listening to music.
I had a meeting today, and It lasted longer than it should..and we were supposed to do stuff today, I'm going to make it up to her, by trying to cook her dinner.

You should also feel free to actually say you're sorry that you couldn't do the things you were supposed to do together and you can understand if she's disappointed. (Doesn't mean you can't also cook for her of course :P)
Maybe she's not actually upset, but either way I'm sure she'll appreciate.

If she's worth her salt, she'll understand. These things just happen sometimes.
Bored at 5 am, knowing full well that I should go to bed, as well as that I need to be able to be awake for an 11 am dentist appointment the day after tomorrow.

And dear god, will that ever be a bad day.
You could forget about sleep, drink several coffees, and spend the next 6 hours flossing...?
Edit: Oh, wait, the day after tomorrow - my bad. But even if you did say "tomorrow", I'd still be wrong.
We've just come off the back of summer here in Australia. The weather has been so crap; the heat's been unrelenting.
Why the heck do I even live in this country? I don't like heat, and I'm not a huge fan of swimming. Oh well.
I could never see my self live in Australia, I would die of heat stroke, melt and boil at the same time.
I am more of a winter person my self, but I do like summer after nothing but snow and freezing temperatures.
But I don't want them to hot either, 20 degrees I can do but when we get close to 30 it's just too hot. Just last summer we got about 40 degrees, I was about to move into the freezer.
And I also hate I get sun burned easy, I am as pale as a vampire I can't seem to get any colour.
I just found out a couple of hours ago I might be going to stay for a couple weeks at the South Carolina-Georgia border this fall. I'll be sure to bring my machete and my shovel. So many rivals to bury; so little time. HeeheeheehehehehwahahahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

PLEASE! You couldn't bury me with a shovel, you double dumbass!
PLEASE! You couldn't bury me with a shovel, you double dumbass!
I'd bury you with a hammer, sickle, and the cold, cruel iron fist of irony, you foolish fool! Then I'll eat all the fried chicken, taters n' gravy, grits, and collard greens I want, then poop 'em on yer grave! I'll eat so many grits to prepare for it I'll be the grittiest in the land.
So yeah, for the past week I've been working on a kiosk software, to showcase PC applications (specifically games) on a controlled Windows environment without, to put it blunt, having idiots fuck things up. Sure, idiots always find a way to close off or open applications that shouldn't be closed or opened, but still, this application makes it at least a bit harder for these people, by disabling actions like Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Ctrl+Alt+Del actions will still pass through due to Windows capturing these events for safety reasons.
And, if the need rises, if for some reason people find a way to close off the application without going through the required methods, I might make a Bluetooth device or a USB device which will sound a loud alarm when I make my program trigger an event. Possibly with lots of nasty swear words to keep these runts from messing with the PC.
Basically the application can be used by both store owners and (indie) developers. The store owners can use this application for their own Windows-based PC demo pods or demo PCs, while developers can use it to showcase their indie games easily without having to pry off the control, alt or delete button.
Perhaps I should make a device which rigs your keyboard with shock wires. Whenever you press the Ctrl+Alt+Del combination, you will get 2 million Volt 0.002 Amps through your body. Enough to paralyze you temporarily, not nearly enough to kill you dead.
Comments
YES I actually thought of that before them(at least before they made that post)
What was it about?

What can I say? The early eighties have strange hair cuts and ambiguous clothes...
Mmm, yum! My nan loves those... except the time my aunt left one in there too long... that one bounced!
Is this the American definition of "pissed" (since they can't say "pissed off" like the rest of us), or the normal definition?
If she's worth her salt, she'll understand. These things just happen sometimes.
Spring sure just snug up on me, but I wonder for how long it will last this time.

On my mind. (Headache.) But they happen. We push through.
I understand. Family drives me crazy too some times.
