The space bar is sticking on my week old keyboard and driving me nuts whilst typing - that'll teach me to only spend $10

(No no, don't hack your mum's Facebook.)

This makes me want to go through my folks' photo albums when I next visit home... it's been years since I've seen our kiddie pics.

At first it's all fairyfloss and rainbows, and then it starts... 'Where wasthat?' 'What exactly am I doing?' 'Oh that's gross!' 'Who on earth wears purple corduroy??' "I don't remember having a sister... ooh, that's my brother? Wait, what?'

I don't know whether it's just an Australian thing, but this is almost exactly how it goes for my family photos too :D.

Edit: Apart for maybe the last part

You better start watching every single one of those right now. I don't care if your eyes bleed. Not having seen In the Mouth of Madness or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a crime.

    Biglist

You know if I made a backlog of all the videogames I haven't got through yet, then it would be approximately twice the length of that list.

This is why I do not make lists!

It helps to understand the source material and know a little bit about who the film is based on to know what the hell is going on in it. And it's a damn well made movie about taking drugs.

Hey guys Im having steam problems and need help because steam and SPUF have yet to find a solution(actually SPUF didnt do anything I posted there last week)
    and have 0 replies)

Anyway my problem is I cant at all get on steam.
Basically it starts to load then I get a message that says "steam is not responding" I close out and try again to no avail, and I am NOT going to reinstall every game I have just to get steam to work.

Gman, het to your Steam folder in Program files and try deleting the files that end with ".blob". When you reload Steam it'll rebuild them for you. See how that works out

    I didnt work:(

    Any other suggestions?

You should just reinstall. You'll wanna move the folders with your games in it somewhere safe til you reinstall then pop em back in.

This is where you'll find your game folder, it's the one that says common.

    steamfolder.jpg

Make sure you've close down Steam and move this to somewhere safe like your desktop. Reinstall Steam and pop it back into place. Your games should all appear when you start Steam again. Some may want to update before they play but it'll jsut check the files quickly, realise they're all there and let you run on.

    Hope this helps :)

Ok so I just put the commons folder somewhere safe and reinstall steam then?

So I just bought Power DVD 10, as it was on sale on their website, and I need a new player software. It was advertised as £59.99. I clicked add to basket, only to find out I can only download it for 30 days, unless I pay an extra £6 for some 2 year insurance thing. I though WTH, may aswell. Afterall it's £15 cheaper than retail price! I then register and enter my payment details, download it, and then check the confirmation e-mail they sent me. £78! Apparently they didn't include tax in the price they quoted me. The annoying thing is that they never mentioned it. I didn't even get to see a screen asking me to confirm my order. I'm annoyed now. I just paid £4 extra for a digital version of a product, that I could buy in box form and use on multiple PCs.

Darn american sites... When I set the price to pounds, I expect the VAT to be included!

The absence of Portal 2 on that list if you're including future releases, is downright shocking
  • edited March 2011
Why isn't Portal 2 on your list? That's highly disappointing.

EDIT: JedExodus beat me to it.
  • edited March 2011
I took off future releases I haven't bought yet. Portal 2 does have a space reserved for it on the list, but I don't have $50 to drop on it right now, so it has no information filled out so it doesn't count toward the final count.

    Speaking of the final count...

Ok that did fix steam, but when I added the games. Steam still acted like the games were uninstalled even with the commons folder back to where it was.

I found this on a paper at school. It made me giggle. Such things usually do. (High school kids are so adorable, aren't they?)
You say you don't know who I am. Great. Neither do I. I may know my past, my experiences, what I am, but who I am is a question I can only guess at.
I am a fraud. I lust after being clever, or witty, or smart, or something all together separate from what I actually am. Those who go down in history are those who mean something, who are passionate, who stand out. I don't even hide in the masses. I cannot stand the masses. I sit alone in the corner, watching the masses laugh, and smile, and enjoy the life they were given, and I pity them. Alone, I pity. But perhaps it is not pity I feel, but a sort of jealousy. I am unable to connect to them, I cannot feel for another, I cower away from attention, I hide behind false personas. This note itself is but another of my disguises.
I am a loner. I let this term define me, but I know it does not. It may be a part of my personality, but it is not me. People who are smart are not only such, nor people who are deep only romantics. Despite this, my life is dreadfully dull. I am socially incompetent. I have friends, but if I suddenly could not see them again, I would not mourn. People come and go. I put up walls around myself, hiding my true self. Who can hurt me if they do not know me? I feel nothing for the world. My walls may protect me, but they also lock me in. This is how I lived my life.
It was my first week at the store when I first saw you. With one short glance, my walls crumbled. Without noticing, you destroyed the shell I had built around myself. The world rushed in, and I was lost. Still cowering from the outside world, I became immensely aware of me. Self-conscious is a term held in such a negative connotation, but that's what I became, conscious of myself. How I walked, what I say, whatever I do, it's all on my mind constantly. Only one thing do I spend more time thinking about than me. You.
Riding in the car alone, I'll hear you say my name. Walking in the hallways, I'll see your face. With a second look, you'll be gone. I close my eyes, and you're there. I cannot escape you, and I wouldn't dream of trying. I cannot feel for another, but I feel nothing but you. You tore down my pitiful wall and built a new one in it's place; one you control. You've made me a better person. Despite the cliché I know has been built up around it, I want you to be happy.
As it is now, I assume you don't want me to be around. At work, I don't bag for you, because it is my understanding that you don't want me to. In the halls, I do not make the slightest indication to you, because I assume you don't want to see me. You don't know me. Life is as it was. For you, in any way.
Now you've found someone else, and I must accept that I am out of the game. My heart will always jump when I see you, my mind will always become cluttered. You are the breeze through an open window, sending a chill down my spine and shuffling all my thoughts. With one last attempt, I must try. I am not asking you out, but permission to. After a year, you know me as well as I am able to let you in my sorry state. With this letter, you know me better than anyone. I am a liar, a coward, and a creep. I can speak only poorly of myself. It is not my place to tell my positives. Those are up to the world to decide. This is my finale. After this, I disappear. I'll leave you alone. I'll let you live your life. I will always be here for you. Just tell me when, and I will catch you.

Did you try updating them to see if they'd just do a quick check and fly on?

Try downloading MNC or something to do a check

It's Excel. Percentages were the easiest thing for me to do.
    =O13/O1

Even the system totals were easy.
    =COUNTIF(B:B,"NES")

The real pain was that last column, the one titled "Finished"...
    =IF(C2="","",IF(E2="Yes","N/A",IF(AND(C2="Yes",OR(F2="No",G2="No",H2="Yes")),"Yes",IF(OR(AND(C2="Yes",H2<>"Yes"),AND(C2="No",D2="Yes")),"In Progress","No"))))

On the plus side MNC looks like it did what you said, so Im going to ASSUME that there is a seperate file for source games we both now know about:D
On the down side it took a good 30 hours to install TF2 last time. :(
On the plus side steam is up and I dont have to reinstall all of my games, just the source ones.

    Oh shiiii'.

    I done you up :(

Your source games are stored in the stupid caches up a level. Sorry man :(

All your non-source game'll be intact though so you're flying there at any rate, plus all your savefiles are stored in the cloud in source so no lossOnce you get the engine downloaded again you'll be flying.

Oh and the L4D's should be fine, because they're a bit more shittier than the other Source games and Gabe wouldn't let them sit in the same folder.

There is a good chance I may never live this down

id like to point out that due to memory issues I only had 3 source games installed:D
    Garrys mod, Portal, and TF2.

Even if TF2 takes a long time to download, the fact that steam actually works now is a step up in the right direction. Plus steam cloud like you said takes care of the save issues, so yeah Im good.:D
