    African pigeons or European pigeons?

    Wait, that's not quite right...

    Not awesome enough, clearly.

Things are always at least seventy-five percent more awesome when there is some sort of combustion involved. Pigeons are severely lacking in that department...unless you set them on fire, I suppose. In which case, they would cease to be able to preform the desired mail-transporting function.

African pigeons are non-migratory. So European they must be.

With Easter so close, I'm starting to spiral into that mini depression I get when I'm away from home for the holidays.

Not sure if you're the kind of person who'd prefer to have some little reminders around so that home doesn't seem so far away, or who'd want big distractions so you don't have to think about what's missing.

So I'll suggest putting on something with big rabbit ears on your head. It is impossible to feel depressed while wearing big rabbit ears. Don't disagree without trying it.

    Landscaping: Day 20

Started the day by laying the last sprinkler line and filling in the whole trench. Proceeded to rake the yard and roll it flat while my dad and grandpa went and got sod. Evened out the rock over the trench, then finally convinced my dad that a bowl of Raisin Bran wasn't enough to get him through a full day. Started laying sod around 5:30. Rain started sprinkling around 9:30. Rain started pouring around 10:20. Finished laying sod around 10:50. Sat around and talked to my grandpa while waiting for my dad to finish his shower until around 11:40. Dad made me go back outside and sweep the dirt out of his truck. Finally getting my own shower at midnight.

There is nothing on me that doesn't hurt. Photo update coming when there's enough daylight to take one.

Flying back to Australia tomorrow, woo yeah! Usually it's a year or more between visits, so I'm super-happy to be going back again after less than 3 months. All the hugs shall be mine!

I am convinced that Hendrix's best material was released after his death. I get more listening pleasure out of 'First Rays of the New Rising Sun' than any of the three Experience albums.

I absolutely "love" it when people take reputable popular old songs, extract a looping sample, add in some drums, then overlay a rap.

    Landscaping: Day x2.gif

    MY DAD IS AN ASSHOLE.

I was promised the day off yesterday. I worked for 11 HOURS yesterday. I EARNED a day off. And now I get to take some painkillers and coax my battered and broken body into moving the rest of the rolls of sod off his truck.

This kind of thing happens, Guru. My advice? Don't complain about your dad or it will only get worse.

Weirdly, the weather is very similar on both sides at the moment, so there won't be much of a change even though I'm flipping seasons and hemispheres.
    MY DAD IS AN ASSHOLE.

I'm sensing a slight undertone of resentment here.
    sod off

I hate my computer right now, damn non-functioning piece of crap. And this laptop isn't much better, but at least it works.

Apparently, 11 hours of landscaping yesterday has made my dad a bit receptive to suggestion today. Sod's staying on the truck one more day, and we're apparently going out shopping now. Might wire the sprinkler system and adjust the heads later. That ought to be fun. It's not a new system, so we have to figure out how to wire our three new valves for the back to our three old valves for the front and our control box.

My day has either been the one of the worst best days or one of the best worst days. I can't really figure out which. Since it's been equally good as it has bad, does that just make it an average day?

Puzzlebox was on a plane, Guru's been working, I was probably in bed, doodo!'s run out of metal song links, jeeno's recovering from the worst best day he's ever had, Dashing has decided to not post for ages for some reason, and everybody else is playing 'Portal 2'.

Dashing? Oh, that's easy. He's in a torrid affair with a woman who loves his best friend. I live nearby, I can confirm it.

I'm not really sure what to add. This thread is all over the place, so often I just post nonsensical stuff.
  • edited April 2011
I wasn't playing Portal 2, but I also didn't have anything to say. Why did you interrupt it, though? It would have been cool to see how long it lasted before someone posted again (for a reason other than pointing out the thread had been quiet for a while).

After I posted about my landscaping the day before yesterday, nobody posted in this thread for over 11 hours. 6 hours is nothing.

Also, I spent today getting dragged around, first to a landscaping materials place to get a price on mulch, then to this garden center place (where my dad had to look at everything in the place before getting his price on mulch), then to a certain Lowe's in south Denver to get split rail fencing (which we ended up not getting because it was all really short and had thin rails), then to like five different Walmarts so my dad could try to find the doe to match those other two deer. There was a doe at the store we got the other two at, but it was broken.

So yeah, it's after 10:00 and I just finished eating dinner. Again.

So this paper is 85 pages, probably the longest I've ever written. Guess that's why it's my thesis.

Anyway, super stressed about getting this in next week.

Good luck! I fiddled on with my thesis right up til the moment I went to have it printed and bound. Bet you'll feel AWESOME when it's done. How are you going to celebrate?
