Yes but one thing I like about Facebook I that social sharing allows for quick spread of an idea if it catches on.

    True. True.

(Though I think some apps have Facebook sharing as well. (But HOW they implement it I'm not certain...))

I actually really like to read Yahtzee notes when I have the time. They really get me thinking.

Oddly enough I'm thinking the opposite of fantasy though, I'm thinking about contemprary science fiction.
If you can even call it that.

I think it would be fascinating to write a little story (or part of a story), applying modern issues to a futuristic setting.

(Make a little story personally related to myself and my thoughts about videogames. About a guy in the future who thinks a bit differently to his fellow contemporaries, and while he's accepted, and "gaming" (or the future equivalent to be more precise) is an everday activity, he feels out of place and yearns for more. And he hangs out with his best friend, who is a morally ambiguous AI (He's definately got a few augmentations he shouldn't have! Level 1 access my ass! XD) who freely travels between devices, but also has a robotic shell suit so that he can physically do things, (though he only normally uses it for a walk and talk or to do a favour for his best friend. He feels a physical form is a bit constricting, (especially when it comes to what he does in his spare time.. ;)))

The twist would be that our "hero" is not trying to save the princess, or stop some evil big bad, or rebel against a restrictive regime. He's just trying to find something to do in his life that makes him feel accepted.

I guess less of a tale and more of a social commentry.

I LOVE Alternate Reality Games. I just think the whole "huge crowd searching everywhere for clues" thing is really cool. So, when I woke up and saw this, I got excited. An ARG involving one of my favorite YouTube users? Yay!

But, of course, this isn't an ARG. It's a webseries disguised as an ARG. Even though it says "follow the clues" right in the video, the only community participation is the contest-entry codes at the end of the video. Blah, an Ashens ARG would have been interesting.

Plus, this thing absolutely hits you over the head with the sponsor advertisement. YES, I KNOW IT'S PAID FOR BY ALIENWARE.

I thought it was kind of bland to be honest.
A bit generic. Dodgy effects. Seems more fitting for a crossover video like the TGWTG group does , (though their crossovers are actually entertaining).

The web-series part does look a bit more interesting here: http://blip.tv/theproxy/trailer-5994583

I'm still annoyed at the blatant advertisement/wasted potential, though.

EDIT: Hah, someone messed up. The entire second episode was posted in the same video file as the first here: http://blip.tv/theproxy/01-the-proxy-the-usb-6009924

I'd love it if they would get the band back to producing albums, (even if it has to be independantly).

Hell, they did a soundtrack to a movie, (a B movie admittadely, but the two songs written for that film were great! And Fire of Unknown Origins is mostly based on the Heavy Metal film, (I think they were orignally in line to do most of the music, but in the end only Veteran of the Psychic Wars was chosen for the film)), so they could easily do one for a game.

Heck, base the game of the bands "lore". It would be sooooo coooool!!!!

With the right devs, it could be a great game too.
(Better than Ed Hunter at least! XD)

If I was ever good enough to be in a band, Blue Oyster Cult songs would be on the top of the pile of songs to cover! :D

And I'm not just talking songs like Veteran of the Psychic Wars, Burnin' for you, Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, Don't Fear the Reaper or Godzilla either.
(Though those songs are awesome, and I'd love to cover them)

I'm thinking some of their more obscure yet awesome songs like, The Old Gods Return, Nosferatu, Fireworks, Take Me Away, Perfect Water, Make Rock Not War, I love the Night, Madness to the Method, Career of Evil, Going Through The Motions, Sole Survivor, and so many more! <3

EDIT: Stairway to the Stars, Heavy Metal: Black and Silver, Fire of Unknown Origin, After Dark, Screams, Transmaniacon MC, Then Came the Last Days of May, Astronomy, Harvest Moon, See You in Black, X-Ray Eyes, and some more.
(Less familiar with the rest of their stuff...)

EDIT: Forgot Dancing in the Ruins, Joan Crawford, I am The Storm, and Black Blade

EDIT: Spy in the House of the Night and Shadow Warrior.

(I definately think Shadow Warrior could have been sung a bit better. A good cover of that song would bring out the cool lyrics)

EDIT: When the War Comes is pretty good as well.

    EDIT: Quicklime Girl

ah Dancing in the Ruins. That's got to be near the top of my list. Almost forgot that one too.

for a cover? How about "Dominance and Submission"? The live version has a better flow and could be a great cover.

I'm not fond of the album version of the song (seems a bit stiff and the vocal was kind of done oddly), but the live version is much better.

It still wouldn't be the song I'd personally pick for a cover, but I can definately see its potential. :D

Texas today defined Planned Parenthood, leading to 9 million in lost federal funding and a total of 40 million in losses to preventative women's cre. This effectively leaves 130000 low income women with no preventative access.

    I hate my home state.

I'm really not surprised. The state that at one point in time was trying to outlaw sodomy at the same time, trying to legalize bestiality. I don't think I want to know which passed at this point. Nothing against the residents(well some of them, but I'm not generalizing), but the government is pretty messed up.

EDIT: Damn it, I have Monday off and the forum will be down. It's going to be a boring day.

Finally! It looks like we will have fibreoptic broadband next week!

We have been on the same AOL broadband policy (averages at about 500kbps download speed), for over 12 years, and my old man has finally managed to haggle with BT to secure an excellent deal.

Basically its the same as we already have. Unlimited broadband. Completely, no catch, at least according to the sales rep, (which we have recorded on paper just in case it proves to be untrue!).
No download limits, no speed cap, no fair use policy, (well the guy said that...)
Its also about £5 cheaper than our AOL subscription. And my old man can finally get rid of his McAffee subscription, (another £4 a month)

Its an 18 month contract, so they can't change anything agreed till that time is up, (trust me, the questions I got to ask my Dad were VERY thorough).

AND We don't pay a thing for the installation or the hub, (my Dad is very convincing! XD).

They are coming next Friday to change the cable to fibre optic, (my Dad, an eletrician is going to pre-set it up for them, so they should be able to just come in, and fit it in quickly).

We have also been guaranteed 34/40 mbps connection speed, (I think our AOL might have been 4mbps), with it possibly hitting 40 at some point.
(we are right near the exchange so our speed should be excellent)

I was a bit wary of changing, since things have been alright for us. But then again, I think we have to change out of necessity.
Besides, if things go wrong, my old man will be the first on the phone to complain, and he holds NO Loyalties to any company.
(well.. Apart from the company he works for! XD)

Heh. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, I'm just genuinely excited that technology has finally caught up with me and my family!

Hopefully, if the UK manage to step up the broadband to levels comparable with other countries, other countries will step up as well.

Globally fast internet. That is perfection there my friend. :D

Thanks for the bat, needed something to knock them out of my house with.

Seriously, I just don't like them. They are fine as kittens, but they just grow into the annoying little creatures and then annoy the crap out of you. We only have one because... well mice are common where I live, and no one wants to deal with them.

    *pulls out gun*

    *thinks for a moment*

    *puts gun away*

In my experience, cats just have different personalities.
Some are annoying, some are just fine, and some you will hardly ever see at all.
(I had a indoor cat that was a prissy little bitch, an outdoor cat that was lovely but never went indoors except to eat, and finally my Merlin, who does both, and is a bit stubborn and silly. But very sweet tempered, (when he's fed! XD))

Cats tend to react to different people differently as well.
Merlin for instance, is perfectly fine with me. A lovely little cuddle bug, who sleeps when he doesn't want to be petted.
With my Dad, he'll play and scrap with him. He'll be chewing his hand and wrestling him. But he will occasionally go up to him for a cuddle as well.

With my Mum. Well... he doesn't like my mother so much.
Mainly because she doesn't like cats very much, and he picks up on that.
He has scratched her quite a few times. (I guess she must do something that pisses him off), and he will always hang around her when she's eating, (since she gives him scraps. She doesn't hate him, she just not a petting type), but normally he's pretty civil.
(Well, they don't hate each other. They just kind of find each other annoying sometimes)

My little brother, well... they both kind of avoid each other.
(I guess he knows my little bro won't take any crap from him, and my little bro won't go near him because he doesn't want to get scratched. Plus I think he's more of a Dog person)

This is a valid option. I'm also considering showing up to my next class with a monocle, but I don't really have a monocle.

Come to think of it, I don't have crowbar either. I do have a hammer though, with a pretty flower pattern on the handle. Would that work?
