What instrument should the MI2 SE Intro theme have?

What do you think the new SE should have as its main intsrument for the main theme?

Well,if it's true to the original, it should be some sort of flute.

A banjo would make me happy. Not as the main instrument though.

    No?

pan pipe aka pan flute :)

I think you could do a great version with a bass guitar, a snare drum, a glockenspiel and a pan flute. Maybe some steel drums and a xylophone too, to make it sound even richer.

100 person choir and full orchestra?

Yeah, I think that could actually sound pretty cool!

MI2 theme is my favorite MI theme. I don't have anything in particular to say, I just want it to be good. I may stand corky animation, visual bugs, bad voice acting, heck, bad music, BUT IF THEY SCREW UP THE MI2 THEME I'M GONNA RIP OFF THEIR LEGS AND DIG 'EM SO DEEP THEY'LL NEVER FIND THEM! Oh, and ears too.

I love the fan-made version HERE. The steeldrums are sooo cool in this!

    I vote for Theremin.

Well, not as the main instrument, but having a harp could make some of the original sounds come through nicely.

Flute for main with supporting Strings, Marimba, Steeldrums, (slapping)Bass, Percussion, (Organ or Accordeon, maybe).

Anything that makes it feel carribean, piraty and epic should be good. ^^

No Patrick Sailorcuteness, mayonnaise is not an instrument.

According to the leaked intro video, it's officially people whistling. Bad call IMO. But not a game-breaker.
  • edited June 2010
Nah, that was the Bart and Fink theme which had whistling in it. We still haven't seen/heard the intro.
  • edited June 2010
I thought that's what we were all talking about.

Personally, I never liked the MI2 main theme. It was too slow for one.

I'd say a theremin, several ukuleles, banjo, melodica and perhaps kazoo. But that's just me dreaming. And it wouldn't really sound official enough, I guess.

It should be Dominic Armato humming/beatboxing to it. ;)
  • edited June 2010
....Holy crap, that would be AWESOME.

Now that I have this idea in my mind, anything else will be a disappointment!

I must disagree with all of you, none of you have an ounce of taste!

The opening to MI2:SE should be handled in exactly the same way the LeChuck theme from SOMI:SE was...

Edward Van Helgan should sing it

Edward Van Helgan should sing it

Sing it? Not play it?! I wonder how the lyrics go...

Monkey Island 2, Monkey Island 2,
I think I lost my Kazoo but it's okay 'cause,
it's much like the first but there's more to do,
because it's all fun and games in the land of...

Monkey Island 2, Monkey Island 2,
where you must use a monkey as a wrench,
but luckily puzzles like that are few,
because there's no need to be tense when you're in the land of...

Monkey Island 2, Monkey Island 2,
    there's Big Whoop to find but the good news is;
this time there ain't no need to form a crew,
although pay a lot you must for the services of Dread and Kate too,

All in the land of Monkeeyyyyyyy Islannddddddd Twwwoooooooooo.

    Tuba! :p

I always thought the intro had an 80s action music ring to it, so uh, whatever instruments those tend to use.

Hahaha. And don't forget the Omnichord as a final touch. :D (Funny thing, I really saw someone using that in a concert once)

Or a reggae feel with the Padkontrol?

Indeed, it has that 80's epicness. Probably through the use of the drums and the bass sounds.

Okay, I already own a stylophone but I've got to get myself one of those Omnichord-me-bobs, then I could write a 70s style science TV programme theme tune.

As for the padkontrol... yuk! It's sounds like listening to reggae underwater, whilst on acid
