Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: What platform are you getting it on?

So, who's getting what platform? Personally, I'm getting the PC version. I'm really bad at moving a cursor with a controller, I prefer a mouse, and I know my PC can handle the game. I might try my luck with the XBOX 360 version in time, though. I also have an Ipod touch, so that would be my other option for after the PC version.

But wait, how do I create a poll? I know that's probably a stupid question that everyone knows the answer to, but I have no clue.

When creating the thread, down the bottom there is a check box for adding a poll to the thread. Im not sure if you can add one after you have started the thread though.
  • edited June 2010
Ok, I've made the poll. You can choose multiple options.

How did you add the poll after the thread was already made?

    PC for me btw

I am a PC gamer so I chose PC, games like Monkey Island on a console just don't seem right to me.

PC version from TellTale (hopefully) and PS3 version to show my support for the series, ..and to get trophies.
  • edited June 2010
PC version from Telltale for me too. I just hope it isn't released on Steam first, and then it takes a year before it's available from the Telltale store.

Same here, except for the trophies, which I don't care about.
  • PC. I need to complete my PC Monkey Island collection.

...And I don't have any of the other consoles.
    Yeah. That too.

You know that you can move Guybrush directly, right? With the arrow keys or control pad or whatever.
I'm not sure how selecting items works, though. Maybe you do have to move the cursor for them or maybe you just have to lead Guybrush to them, Grim Fandango style?

In any case, I'll be playing it the classic way so I'll get the Windows version.

Yeah, it's been mentioned that its more of Tales style control system, so you control guybrush directly and move the cursor to interact with objects.

PC version. From Telltale if they're selling it at launch. From Steam if not.
  • edited June 2010
Wow, huge amount of people getting the PC version. Not surprising, though. I'll probably get the game off Steam if Telltale doesn't release it first, but does anyone know how to get the games onto a disc for backup?

"The series debuted in 1990 with The Secret of Monkey Island on the PC MS-DOS, Atari ST and Macintosh platforms"

It may have started on PC but it's also been on consoles for several years. I don't know about CMI but I know EMI is on the PS2, and Lechuck's Revenge was on Amiga. TMI is ported to lots of different stuff.

the controls are much better for EMI on PS2 then PC plus theres a map of moves to make monkey kombat go much faster. So consol gameing isnt bad for MI

360 because I already have a load of points on my account so won't have to pay anything extra like I would elsewhere. It also looks better on my big HDTV
  • edited June 2010
I'm going to get it for PC.
  • edited June 2010
PS3 as its connected to my HDTV but also will probably end up getting it for PC aswell.
  • edited June 2010
I'll buy it on XBox and Steam. I'm just not sure which I'll get first. Probably XBox, as it has those fun achievements and it's faster to buy a Microsoft Points card than it is to transfer money into my PayPal account.

I'll also get it on PS3 eventually, though.
  • edited June 2010
I, er.... might possibly be buying it for my X360, PS3 and PC... and if I get an Ipod touch or Iphone or whatever someday, that too... and, I only say this because I know you won't laugh at me.... may quite not so impossibly get a Mac someday too, so I'll get it on that as well whenever that happens....

    uhm... ye.

    For Steam?
    1. Downoad/Install the game.
    2. Goto the library page
    3. Right click the game and select 'Backup game files...'

Pc / steam :) Pc is steamy hot haha

Yeah dont buy games on discs anymore, lets do what we can do save the enviroment.

You can back up your games perfectly fine on steam, either on same or another HDD, or burn a DVD yourself.

    PC (Steam)
Why PC? Because I have not any of the other platforms
Why Steam? Because I don't live in the USA (I can't use Direct2Drive, or at least I wasn't able to use it when SOMI:SE was out), so I got the first game through Steam and I'd like to get the second game just the same way.
Why not Telltale Store? As far as I know, they don't have confirmed if they'll release the game at all, not to mention when. And, although I think Telltale Store is the best place to buy Telltale's games, I don't see the reason to buy thid parties' games there.
  • edited June 2010
I'll be getting it on the 360 to begin with. Will get a Windows version if/when Telltale sell it from their store.
  • edited June 2010
PC. That's all I have out of the options. If ever I get any of the other consoles, MI will be first priority!

Xbox because of 40' full HD screen + 5.1 sound.
Maybe I'll get it for PC once the price drops or something, I like using the mouse.
I'm not getting it for PS3 because it's exactly the same as the Xbox version, I really don't like the PS3 controllers and I love achievements. Also, my PS3 takes like 3 times more to download the same file my Xbox downloads, I don't know why, they're in the same room!

Pc sucks(it lost all of its memory on tf2 and I aint buying more for a while)
dont own any other console but wii and psp, but neither have it so 360.
    Plus achievements.

PC of course. On Steam. Mouse control, and best sound. (The music of the X360 version of Monkey Island was compressed and it sounds much better on the PC).
I always buy the PC version of any multiplataform game. Much, much better resolution and antialising, better graphics overall.

Let's hope LucasArts have heard of Lossless Codecs this time around, the music was roughly the same as the Xbox 360 version (96kbps WMA) but the speech was Uncompressed LPCM on the PC version which bumped up the file size by roughly 800MB, which could of been cut down to about 400MB using Lossless formats and still sounding the same. Plus MI2 has A LOT more speech so, yeah.

PC. Hopefully Telltale will have it out, as I don't use Steam, due to my computer's 3G air-card wifi. With Telltale games, I can download the file at school and bring it home. With Steam, I'd have to download the file at home and be on the internet the whole time. If Telltale doesn't have it any time soon, then iPod touch. I'm in need of a new game for that.

So, I can choose a destination folder and all that, right? Then I just burn the disc? Will it still have DRM on it if I ever need to get it back again?
  • edited June 2010
It basically creates a Steam installation file along with backups of whatever games you want to backup. So it installs Steam if you don't already have it and all of the games. So you still need Steam and you still need to be online (at least once to run in offline mode).

What do you mean you "lost all your memory on TF2"? That makes no sense.

I used to hate PC too when I had a cheap CPU and Graphics card which were always crashing on me just before or when I was saving the game.
  • edited June 2010
Don't hate the PC. Hate the wallet that's not full enough to buy proper hardware ;).

Since I got SoMI for 360 I'll do the same for LeChuck's Revenge.

I'll be getting it for PC. I wonder how big this game will be, the Special Edition of Secret was somewhere around 2GB if I remember correctly. So if this game is approximately three times bigger, and now with audio commentary and bonus concept art, then it's going to be colossal. This will certainly use up a large fraction of my monthly downloads, but it will definitely be worth it.
