I'll buy it on PC from Telltale if they have it on launch day... otherwise I'll get it on Steam like SOMI:SE. I might pick it up for iPod touch too, since it's always nice to play a little Monkey Island on the go. I just hope the touchscreen interface is a little more intuitive than Secret's was.

    I chose the undecided option

I'll be getting it for PC. I wonder how big this game will be, the Special Edition of Secret was somewhere around 2GB if I remember correctly. So if this game is approximately three times bigger, and now with audio commentary and bonus concept art, then it's going to be colossal. This will certainly use up a large fraction of my monthly downloads, but it will definitely be worth it.

I really wish it were just on a CD.

Getting it on the PC, probably via Steam on release date. Got the entire series currently installed in this machine (SOMI, LCR, CMI, EMI, TOMI & SOMI SE) while doing a series replay.

It may have started on PC but it's also been on consoles for several years. I don't know about CMI but I know EMI is on the PS2, and Lechuck's Revenge was on Amiga. TMI is ported to lots of different stuff.

I know it started on consoles, but I have never in my life played MI1 or 2 because I didn't know about the games back then, mainly because I was 3 years old when Secret came out. :p

The first MI game I ever saw was Curse on the PC when my brother was playing it, and then he played Escape on the PC.
I started to play MI my self when ToMI came out, and that is what have awakened my MI fan hood. :)

So now PC just seems like the only platform to play MI on, because that is what I grew up with, so that is what I mean with "feels right to me". :)

I'm getting the one for the PC. I've never been a big fan on consoles and only own a WII anway, so it's not really a question for me.

I only hope that Telltale will release it simultaneously, because otherwise I'll have to wait. Since it's widescreen, I wanna play it on my nice new notebook, but I will never ever install steam there...

Then again, I've so many other games to play right now, so as much as I'd love to get the SE now, I'll survive if I have to wait a couple of months. (Well, at least I hope I will! That would be a real pain the ass, dying before I could play the Special Edition of my all-time-favorite adventure game!)

Don't worry, Monkey Island started on computers, pc or otherwise.

MI1 was on Sega CD....I think that was the only console it was on when it first came out...

How awesome would it have been if Secret was released on the SNES? That would have been one neat soundtrack!

That's no excuse! I hadn't even been born when the first two came out!

But excuses is the only thing I have :D

And my Monkey Island fan hood only started a few months ago, so I don't see a reason to buy the old games now. :p
I will just stick to the Special Editions, and play it old style that way.

I support point n click adventures on consoles (PS3 primarily), so what purpose would buying said games on a platform I care very little about?
So I'll be getting (Secret: SE and) LeChuck's: SE (and future SEs) for PS3.

Pre-ordered the game as soon as I found the page. I'm gonna download it first thing in the morning. So, did anyone gift the first SE?

Both PC and 360. PC because I'll be able to rip the music and art and play it with a mouse, 360 because it'll be awesome on a huge TV and with the music in 5.1 surround.

I assume you mean download MI 1, because MI2:SE will be released in two weeks. It's not available yet.

If I could gift my Steam version I would.

If you already owned MI1:SE on Steam and you bought MI2:SE there too, you get an extra copy of MI1 that you can gift to other people.

No, I meant I'm going to download MI 2 when it comes out in the morning if possible so I have more time to play through the day.

I want to buy it for PC, but right now both Telltale and Lucasarts aren't necessarily helping, because my digital distribution platform of choice is IMPULSE, NOT Steam.

Any chance we'll see Monkey Island games on Impulse, too?

Oh, I thought you meant wanting to download it tomorrow morning. I was just trying to save you from some disappointment :)

PC! I dislike controllers for most genres and especially for adventure games. Mouse is much more practical! I played all games on PC, except for the first one which I played on the Amiga 500.

Can anyone who's bought it already tell me if they actually have it for preload (you can download but can't launch)?
  • edited June 2010
    well im buying it.

but! id love telltale to state clearly, if they plan (at least plan, i dont want to get a definitive word) to obtain distribution rights in like, roughly, 4-5 months since the MI2SE release of steam. im trying to give YOU the money, not valve, dear telltale, and i doubt that im alone in this. use this opportunity to leech some pieces of eight from me, please! not that i have any big objections against valve, but i bet that valve is less dependent on my purchase than you are, and i want you to keep releasing good games of course!

You can gift games on Steam? And if so, is that assuming I pre-ordered it there? I really had no intention of buying MI2:SE there, since I'd prefer to buy it from Telltale, but I have a feeling it won't get here until much later, and I don't really know if I'll be able to wait for it. Especially now that I just got a pretty nice tax refund.

Yeah, same here. If I'd know for sure I could buy it here, say one month after the Steam release, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to wait for it. Not knowing at all though makes it all the more likely I'll go for the Steam version. *shrug* In that case I'd end up buying it here as well later though.

Yes. You can buy games as gifts and send them to other Steam accounts. Or in a case like this if you're buying a bundle (or buy-one-get-one as with this MI2:SE pre-purchase) and you already own one of the titles you can gift your duplicate to another Steam account.

not necessarily, this works only for valve games and some explicitely stated. (if they hadnt changed it)

Always played MI on the PC and that's where I shall keep it, much preffer the point and click interface with a mouse than with a pad or using direct controll of the character a la Escape.
Bought it on Steam the other day, so just waiting for the release now.

Well, in the case of the MI2:SE/MI1:SE bundle it works. My brother just bought the bundle for me and since I already own MI1:SE I can now gift it to whoever I want.
