Yeah, I can see that, but I also don't find the graphics disorienting when I'm playing at all. Just plain beautiful. I think just looking at the screenshots doesn't do the graphics the justice it deserves.
For me, the definite plus with LCR is the more colorful look compared to SMI. But there are people who don't like colorful pictures either.
I like tales for it's good 3D art, Curse is way too cartoony and I can't really live in to a cartoon. Not saying the 3D does it any better, I just think it looks better.
Escape did a decent job at the 3D for it's time, granted it was very square and lagging polygons but still quite good, but not good enough to stay in par with Tales.
Now if Secret and Revenge is from the old graphics, then there is no way I like either of them, pixels just don't look good anymore.
The Special Edition of Secret is ok, but could definitely have been done better.
But I really like what I have seen of Revenge Special Edition, everything looks really nice.
But so far Tales takes the stop of best graphics, when I actually get to play Revenge and get to see the animations and graphics in action I can give it a better judgement, and it might even take the top spot.
I really can't stand the exaggerated cartoon swirly clouds look. It's just too far. A simple cartoon look would have been just fine. Why does everything need to be so exaggerated for a cartoon?
I love how most people get really uncomfortable whenever I say I like Escape's features more than other MI games. I post if for fun, but I don't lie, I really like Escape better.

The thing is though, you always only post "Escape is better", without explaining that opinion. Since most people seem to dislike that game, it's logical to assume you're just trying to annoy. If you'd explain your opinion better, or at all, people would take you more seriously.

Because that's often part of the definition for "cartoon"
But apart from the super-curly clouds (I can see your point here), CMI's cartoon style wasn't exaggerated, was it?

And he was the only person in that other thread who thought it would be a good idea if LEC bought Telltale. It's like he's trying to collect the set of unlikely opinions, but like you I'd be interested in how on earth they came about.
Okay, someone's favourite game in the series is EMI. Fine. It's an opinion and it's their right to have it. But even though I'm not great -hater- of EMI, someone who could play those 5 games and come to the conclusion that EMI is better than all the other 4 - those thought processes are so alien to me that I am intensely fascinated as to what's behind them. It might not be easy to explain a subjective preference, but there must be at least some reason behind it.
My guess would have to be that EMI came at a time for him which was just the right time for it to now induce intense feelings of nostalgia, and of course nostalgia is always a great personal reason for a preference (of course, it makes us biased but since we're all wracked by biases anyway, that hardly matters, it's part of being human). But I'd love to hear his own take on it.
I did explain why I like it and everything like twice on these forums, if you guyz are really interested, you could search my post history. It's boring having to explain myself every time I talk about Escape because people hate it, in my opinion, for no logical reason (keyboard control is bad so I hatez the gaem!1!!!1)
Oh, another one of these threads with the comment, "the game must look good to be in the poll". Give me a break. Escape did great commercially and critically regardless of what any whiners have to say, and at the very least should be acknowledged. Might as well just say, "screw you", to Mike Stemmle, the guy who worked his ass off on that game and the new Tales of Monkey Island.
No, Thin, all you said was that you loved the gameplay, humour, art, locations, etc/whatever/bunch of nouns, but you didn't explain WHY.
And no, Escape sold horribly. And hey, it doesn't matter how hard you've worked on something, if it sucks it sucks. I'm not necessarily saying that's the case here, but it's still true.
Escape doesn't suck. By the way why wasn't Simon the Sorcerer 3D added to this poll in some way? Not a great game but the graphics aren't very...good for the time.

I'll play LCR special edition, that looks awesome
