Would you buy the Deluxe Edition of Tales of Monkey Island if it was back in stock?

The Deluxe Edition has now been unavailable in the Store for over a week.
According to another forumer, Telltale said:
"We've had some trouble with the Deluxe Edition so we had to take it down from the site. It's out of stock and it's not certain when or if it will return."
It's my contention that Telltale would make it available again (if only for a limited period of time) if they saw that there is still an interest for it (I believe that making the extra parts for the Deluxe Edition takes time and costs money, and that Telltale would need a certain amount of potential Deluxe Edition customers for it to be profitable, especially as they probably have to share the profits with LucasArts).
So, here's a friendly poll to help them gauge that interest.

Doesn't sound promising...
Where are all those people who complained on the forums that they were unable to buy the Deluxe Edition?
I did not vote but I already own the Deluxe Edition and bought a standard edition for my brother (who's not as die hard as I am as far as Monkey Island fandom goes), so that would be it for me.
Maybe I should have added poll options for giving the game as a gift like "Got the Deluxe/standard Edition but would have liked to be able to buy one for a friend.", "Got no interest in the Deluxe Edition for me but would buy one for someone else." or "Who has money for gifts in this economy?"...
Doesn't "I already bought it, but I wouldn't say no to a second copy" basically works for this situation to?
Why, yes, I guess it does!
It also works for people who buy a copy to open up and play and another one to keep under glass and look at (you know who you are )!
Poll update: 1 "Yes"; 19 "Not yes"
So glad I ordered mine straight away, I bloody love it.
Sorry, that wasn't meant to sound smug. I hope everyone who wants one manages to get one eventually.
You see, on this ToMI general forum mostly lurk fans. Big fans, small fans, just fans, or a few people who are fond of ToMI and sometimes check in... My point being... OF COURSE THEY HAVE THE DELUXE EDITION BOUGHT. Heck, maybe bought two or three times already. I mean, people here probably pre-ordered the thing (Deluxe or Standard, whatnot) as soon as they were able to pre-order it.
Maybe those who want to buy the Deluxe version don't know this poll exists, to make a difference. So, I would propose either to create the thread in another forum, or give a link here.
My problem is that I lurk in 5 different Telltale forums on a daily basis, so I was probably a little short-sighted.
On my way to post some links in other forums right now.
So, you are implying that anyone who doesn't have it isn't a fan. This assumption is, to put it bluntly, highly illogical.
But anyway yes, this should be in the support forum for the shop, I already explained to Mac why.
If a moderator see this, please move it to the shop and activation support forum.
On topic, I voted yes. I already explained why I didn't bought it in the shop support forum, and since the chances to have it from TT seems so little now, I might prepare myself to buy it from other sources (if any user has one that want to sell I'm here, but don't even think to overdo with the price). Apparently the staff couldn't advertise us that it was limited/was soon to be sold-out, maybe the aliens threatened them of burning their hamsters if they let slip out even the tiniest hint about this, I don't know. But this sure annoys me to no end.
That Yes vote is me. I like duplicates.
ROFL.
I love it when people totally misunderstand a post and then try to prove that someone is wrong, or, in this case, illogical. This is even more funny when they're not questioning something, but affirming their total rightness. Seriously, read my post AGAIN.
HOW THE HELL did you get the assumption that I've called anyone who doesn't have a Deluxe Edition isn't a fan? No, seriously? Where is YOUR logic?
If anything, I'm more insulting the active ToMI-forum goers (who already have the edition) by implying that they have no life That would be more logical for somebody to accuse me for.
Sounds to me like they did not get enough of those Deluxe Editions, when there only is a 3 week window to get them or something like that. At least I did not get the email about it before I was away. It is rather bad planning from them. Did I know I would get the Deluxe Box 6 months ago? Most likely yes, but the announcement of the Deluxe one just was not there as far as I have noticed.
The bolded part it's the key. The only possible correct interpretation is "of course they would have it if they were fans who visited this part of the forum" if we take into account also the fact that you included in your sentence all the fanbase of this section ("big fans, small fans..."), so that "of course" point out that thinking anything else (read, a fan who visited this section and didn't ordered the deluxe ed.) would be absurd. Which, as I implyied before, it is not.
You meant something else altogheter, that's fine, but your words didn't, it's as simple as that.
Also being a smartass doesn't bring any benefit to your argument (on the contrary, it makes it look weak), so I would suggest you to stop doing it, but that's just my advice.
Truth be told, the deluxe edition was available for some months.
*ROFL* ... Oh my god... No, and you seriously want me to NOT act like a smartass when people interpret my words like THIS?
Let's look at the facts:
1. I wrote my post.
2. Macfly understood what I said in my post, and, rightfully so, didn't think (or at least didn't seem to think) that I was 'insulting' anybody or making any absurd points. And if he did, he was mature enough not to say it, and if he would say it, I'm sure he would be mature enough to say it correctly.
3. Then you come on to the scene, misunderstand my words, and you don't question me or anything, but boldly affirm that I've just said that anyone who's not on this forum is not a fan. And also you do a Spock impression there, lad. Basically, you try to act mature in a very immature manner, accusing me of, basically, insulting other people. So, of course, me, a generally likable person, a smart and logical person (though somewhat childish and with an attitude), who, guess what, CAN accept his mistakes, doesn't take this too lightly and starts to act, as you call it, like a smartass.
4. So in my reply to you I DIDN'T try to win an argument or something. Obviously. Since there WAS no argument. Basically I was pretty angry at you and urged to reread my post. That's... it. No defence or anything. Really. I just said "Reread and try to understand correctly".
5. You continue to act 'smart' and 'mature'. And also making statements even more absurd than the phrase which you're accusing of being absurd.
In light of that fact, let's read the thread and my post which you've replied to. Analyze it. WITH SCIENCE! (Oh, btw, since this is internet, smilies are usually put to show the intonation of the phrase, which you're very promptly ignoring).
So, we have 1 'yes' vote and LOTS of 'No' vote. I start thinking why this could possibly be.
Seems pretty logical to me. And, according to your posts, pretty logical to you too. So, yeah. Then I started to argument my line of thinking.
In a bit sarcastic manner. Basically, what I say is that since we have so few 'yes' votes, it's most likely because the big and small fans that lurk on this forum basically bought it already. I agree, I could've made myself clearer. BUT. You seem to be the only one who understood that phrase as you did. And let's not forget about the ":p" smile
Well, basically, I'll quote myself from my second post: "If anything, I'm more insulting the active ToMI-forum goers (who already have the edition) by implying that they have no life " Which is also said not in a very serious manner, yes. Both my quotes, that is.
No comments, I don't see what could possibly be wrong with this one.
So, yes, I could formulate my sentences in a different manner. You also could say "So, are you implying that anyone who doesn't have it isn't a fan?" And if you did, there wouldn't have been this argument, I would've answered differently because I knew I was talking to a smart, mature and not arrogant person and it would actually make me think that I possibly didn't put my words pretty well together.
But in the lights of the latest your post, I still don't see you as a mature person you're trying to pose yourself as. And yes, I'm still acting smartassy because of that. So I propose we forget our differences, admit we both were wrong in one way or another, and let this thread continue being about the people wanting to get a new batch of Deluxe Editions.
- Team commentary videos for each game (I haven't watched them yet, but I heard they last about 20 minutes per game and are pretty funny and informative)
- A gallery of concept art and screenshots that shaped the game (lots and lots of them according to forum posts)
- Wallpapers and avatars
- Fan-generated "I Wonder What Happens..." videos
- Video trailers for Tales of Monkey Island™ and Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse™
To me, the DVD is definitely worth it for the first two (commentaries and concept art), not necessarily for the others (not that I don't love the "I Wonder What Happens..." videos, just that they are easy to find online and I promptly downloaded them as soon as they were posted online).
I would definitely buy it (or get it for free + shipping) without another thought if there was no possibility of the Deluxe Edition coming back, but that's just me!
Since it looks to me like you are willing to pay the shipping costs (something I gather from the "I have to pay $11" part of your post, which I interpret, possibly wrongly, as "I'm willing to pay $11 for shipping for the Deluxe Edition") and not add items to your order to make the shipping free if your order total is over $50 (the offer ends tonight, I believe), I would advise that you wait a few more days until we get an official reply from Telltale regarding the potential return in stock of the Deluxe Edition.
I can't possibly know whether or not you got the e-mail before you went on vacation, but I know that the Deluxe Edition was mentioned in an early May edition of the Telltale newsletter (The Telltale Interloper, see relevant part here) and I definitely knew about it beforehand, since I ordered mine on March 11 (in the first post of this forum thread, dated March 12, the op mentions having received an e-mail from Telltale about the pre-order availability of the game. I don't remember if the e-mail mentioned the Deluxe Edition, but I would be surprised if it didn't).
I will try to contact them in the desperate hope of receiveing a last-minute answer however, seeingly as the only answer they gave was to someone who contacted them directly. Maybe you should do the same.
So, in synthesis, my post offended you and you, by your own admission, reacted in a smartass (which now becomes borderline trolling) attitude in response. That's in no way how a " smart and logical person (though somewhat childish and with an attitude) who CAN accept his mistakes" acts, no matter how much childish he can be or how much of an attitude he has.
There was nothing to be pissed off about anyway, I only said the assumption was illogical, not that you as a person were stupid or anything like that.
By consequence, I won't consider any of your ad hominem attacks, because not only they don't bring anything constructive to the discussion nor have a solid ground to stand on, but come from someone who, from what I read, doesn't even know himself.
In any way, judging someone by the way he writes is, for doing another Spock impression, illogical. If you don't like that, I could be more rude and say it's downright stupid. Graphology studies that in relation to the handwriting, which in theory should be able to reveal even more of a person than the digital writing, and yet it's considered a pseudoscience. Do the math.
As I said before, I only judged your sentence by how you wrote it, not who you were. I'm referring to the fact that you pointed out I wasn't using emoticons or that I did a "Spock impression". Judging someone by the way he acts however, even on the internet, is another thing of course.
About your facts, I'll cut it short: first, Mac simply didn't adressed the point, nor can he be picked as a landmark being he a single user like us, so it's futile to bring him in. Second, true, I did not question your intentions. There wasn't anything to question in the first place: the sentence, as it is, wasn't understandable in any other way, and I have showed why. I understood you wanted to say something else, but then you should have made yourself clearer, not "could".
The emoticons do serve to express a sentence better, but they can't replace totally the facial expressions or the tone of it. So adding a :P doesn't automatically mean I shold know that sentence was sarcastic. In fact, I interpreted it as making fun of Mac in a non-rude way for opening the thread here. If that weren't your intentions, you could have told me that without all this blabbering. On a side note, I don't use emoticons at the moment because I don't need to, since I'm just talking normally right now. I'm not being sarcastic, not angry nor anything else.
And I'm the only one who questioned your phrase because I'm the only one who talked about it in the first place.
Last, yes this is bringing the thread off-topic, we could continue this by pm if you like.
I had no idea they announced that so early, I guess I just preordered. At least I did not find anywhere I could ask for my hard copy of it. I could wait for Telltale to announce something, problem is I would risk having to pay for the game once more, instead of just paying for the shipping.
But it is nice to know it is not just the cover art that is the only thing new in the normal retail dvd box. Sounds like some nice stuff, even though some of the Deluxe stuff would have been awesome to have. I am just giving up on it, Telltale have made no response for about a month or more now.
I never noticed that the DVD ordering was finally ready, or that I could order a Deluxe Version, its just afaik, the copy they already had in stock for me, was not announced ready, that I noticed anyway. The last thing I read was that they werent done making them. Since it was already part of an order I had already made, I expected the email, but got the email while on a 3 week vacation.
From the email:
And they announce I can now order both the regular, and the deluxe. I got tis email July 10, probably because of timezones. But at this time I am in Norway for 18 days, and I am barely home in time to get the copy I had been waiting months for. The email of course tells me about the deluxe edition and everything, so I was very excited when I got home, until I found out that the website was bugged, or they had run out of stock.
I still do not know since NO announcements have been made by Telltale yet. And that does bug me. I can understand that they can run out of stock, but I really cannot see any reason why they would leave there website with such an error so you cant order the deluxe edition, and have not come with any comments at all about it for weeks. No status or anything. I am not even sure if I will get my normal edition because I waited until August 1 in hopes of some kind of response. The commentary and stuff is probably what is most important for me, but a piece of 8 and voodoo cards, cloth map, would have been awesome. And I do not see why I should order it as extra when they could just have added it to the package if they did have it in stock.
Deluxe Edition is sold out for now.
Sorry guys. Anyone care for my second copy?
I do. Contact me in pm.
There were also plenty of reasons to not preorder right away.
The main reason though is that money don't grow on trees, which can bring things such as not having enough money until recently, having a priority list over TOMI, so saving it for last, avoiding spending money so early for a thing that who knew when it would have been shipped and the likes. All of this correlated to the fact that, as far as people knew, the Deluxe edition wasn't a limited item (or that it was going out of stock, for that matter).
I want it, please TTG make a new release!!!
Some of us and new people are waiting for it!
But I don't have a problem with trying to get new fans to buy one.
I was waiting after summer holidays to get it
I bought it, but never ordered it and it's no longer in stock
??
Wrong. Free shipping was available AS SOON as the DVD was announced for Pre-Order in MARCH.
I looked around and that's true, it was activated on the 28th of March. I thought it was activated on July because that's when I saw it in the TT Interloper (and no issue from April on mentioned it), my mistake.
This does help me in understanding the situation better, but (just to make things clear) the beginning date of the "free shipping offer" wasn't and isn't, in my case, a crucial thing in the decision of when and if to buy the deluxe edition, although the end date was.
On another matter, in the Interloper they also said the TOMI deluxe orders were going to be shipped in May, although it was changed somewhere else in "supposed to". Nice.
Oh well, not going to be ordering the regular edition, fingers crossed for a reprint, which looks like is never going to happen.
