I believe that's a Bill Tiller piece. I would most probably be an early piece of concept art for Curse.

    I think so, too.

Sure it was early concept, but since they stayed at Blood Island it could also be a glimpse of the future.

I also like this one, which was actually pitched for a remake of the first game:

Yes, that is another truly awesome piece of artwork. I've almost forgotten how much I love this guy's style. If it weren't for Tiller, Curse of Monkey Island just wouldn't have the same feel as it does. His artwork style is really one of the core elements that breathed life into Curse.

Not to mention we now have five MI games with curly clouds. Tiller's style was extremely influencial to the rest of the games.

Tiler's scumm bar picture is truly awesome! That was how SMI:SE should've looked like...

Despite the fact that I am a great fan of Bill Tiller's art as well - why?

Well, I agree with him, since I don't like most of the MI1:SE's backgrounds. Of course, Tiller's version would've been a lot different, but still awesome!

That being said, I wouldn't want MI2:SE to look any different than it does now, and I would even prefer a M1:SE that looks as good as MI2:SE over a Tiller-SE.

Although: I wouldn't mind another set of SEs which get the Tiller style :D

he's also got a nice close up pick up Barbary Coast on Plunder Island. It didn't make it into the game but it's in the manual.

I really do like Tillers style, shame he's off doing his own games these days, which look very nice, just sort of lack in other things. :(

I believe you are referring to this.

yeah thanks. Couldn't find a pic of it.

No problem. And also, for anyone who hasn't seen it, here's another piece of Bill Tiller concept art. It was an early design for the Plunder Island Fort.

I remember looking for the Barbary Coast closeup after seeing in the manual. Tried hard to get into Puerto Pollo at that angle!

Ah... CMI. The more I play it, the more I love it. My fav art, by far.

I see what you mean. The great music added a lot to the graphics, too, though.

Yes. Maybe to all hardcore fans, the storyline is not perfect (to me is fair enough and pretty awesome) but the rest of the game is perfect, specially talking about graphics, music and ambience sounds. I love that game. The perfect blend between 'modern' games at that point and old adventures.

Well... Though I like Bill Tiller's art in general (not so much his character designs... or whoever did the character designs), and I do really like the picture in the first post... I would like to say "Thank God the fort didn't end up looking like this in the final game".

Yeah, of course it wouldn't have been quite as exaggerated in the final game, this was just a quick draft that Bill posed to Larry Ahern... which was rejected. I don't like it as much as the in-game one either, but it's still pretty cool to see.

Well, yeah, it is kinda cool. Reminds me of some Gobliiins art (more so Goblins 3), it would fit those games. Still I'm glad it was rejected for a MI game :p

The Fort actually looks like a very early draft, it seems much more cartoony compared to the style he went with after, oh and I still love that picture of the Barbary Coast on Plunder Island from the CMI Manuel.

If you think about it if you re-purpose that concept art as having happened after the game and assuming those three could not get the ship sea worthy again, and the volcano having gone off again and the tourism restored they may have ended up better off for having met Guybrush.... its a rare thing for MI b lister characters to claim.

which meens monkey island wiki is wrong about guybrush maturing in tales and making friends insted of wrescking lives to solve puzzles since he started in CMI.
