you know i wonder if cabernicus > doc's dog in 1955 is actually einstein in 1985 i'd doubt though, cause i don't think i've ever known a dog to live 30 years lol

My two cents, I think "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! BASTARDS!!!" fits the best in this situation....

... As you said, pretty much any public message board will have its vets and it's rookies who do not know where everything is.

But it's general message board etiquette (not just this message board but pretty much ANY message board on the web) to look at the sticky topics first before creating a new topic as your question/thoughts could be contained in a sticky...

I haven't been to this forum since 08/13/2008 according to this site and that is about the time SBCG4AP. I started looking at the steam forums to find out the release date because I decided to wait for about a month from the last ep. I had no idea that they announced that it was delayed until June. From the steam forum I came here looking for more info and after looking though this thread this comment stood out.

Every forum has this issue. People just don't understand Netiquette and they need to learn. Unfortunately some people learn the hard way.

It has nothing to do with how often a person signs in. It has to do with understanding the nature of forum and the ability to research and not just read. I know I never read this entire thread but I did go through a few pages to get up to speed.

It has not been delayed until Fall. Episode 5 will be hitting PC/Mac in June.

    I was joking Alan. :D
  • edited May 2011
It's been delayed until Fall, so it can come out alongside the console version.

I know you'd probably was joking about this, but you're not far from the truth... from certain point of view: JURASSIC PARK will be the one released in FALL alongside the console versions.

This is the first time i ever came online to complain about something, seriously.
And, in the end, this isnt a big deal for its only a game. but if there is one thing i cant stand, its when a company lies to me. when i bought back to the future the video game in january, i was told that episode five would be available in may. Well, its June and no game. And i knew this was gonna happen. I should have known from the beginning when you didnt give an exact date, but you did say MAY, That is for sure.

Now i have a feeling this has something to do with the fact that you released this on playstation. so once again, pc gamers get fucked over. basically, you(telltale games) advertised in january that back to the future episode five was to be available to pc gamers in may. its june and no episode five.

Look, i dont really know much about this company, seems pretty new. i know you guys came from lucasarts. this is the only game i bought from telltale. i had plans to buy more, i like this idea of episodic games. but when you expect to get an episode by a certain time and you dont get it, well that takes the fun out of it and in the end, thats what games are all about.

so in the end, and im sure you guys dont care since you already got my money, but i will NEVER purchase anything from telltale games again. why would i pay money for false advertising, which is what this was.

it was bad enough you started releasing the episodes on the very last day of each month, but now you dont even release it on the month you advertised.

i wonder if there is any legal action one could take for false advertising.

like i said, in the end, its just a game, but i paid money and you lied. simple as that.

    never again,

    James

    gamepot's website from march.

Episode One: It's About Time (Release: December 22, 2010)[10][11][12]
Episode Two: Get Tannen! (Released: February 17, 2011)[10]
Episode Three: Citizen Brown (Release: March 2011)[10]
Episode Four: Double Visions (Release: April 2011)[10]
Episode Five/Finale: OUTATIME (Release: May 2011)[10]

    read the last line.

I am sorry, but wherever you were told that you'd have a fifth episode in May, you were misinformed. TTG has never, ever said that. Moving this to the release date discussion.

/edit: And once again for the better informed forumites, there is no_need_for_flaming_here.

I dont know when that shot was taken. but trust me. in january, it said MAY. im not even going to argue that. they lied, its that simple, dont defend them.

    it didn't say MAY.
The first trailer (released last year, before the first episode came out) said FINALE!
  • edited May 2011
I remember when it released, and it was discussed that the finale never had a month attached to it. Telltale never said that the finale would be released in May. You must be confused or something.
  • VainamoinenVainamoinen Moderator
    edited May 2011
Yes, official TTG information never said that. Also, that it might need an extra month for the last episode is nothing BTTF-exclusive. The month wasn't announced for the third season of Sam & Max as well. There is nothing unusual or unexpected here.

The attached shot is from the first trailer - December 2010, as official as it gets. Any other source besides the official one might have interpreted the release schedule and misinformed you. Get your anger back at them if you really need to vent.
  • edited May 2011
We never gave a month for Episode 5 at all until we announced it was coming in June a few weeks ago. Every piece of media about the game that we put out always pegged Episode 5 with a "finale" tag.

Any information like release dates and release schedules at game media outlets like IGN, Gamespot, 1UP tend to be best guesses as the dates are usually put in when a game product is created in their database and rarely, if ever, updated.

This trailer came out December 3rd 2010; this is BEFORE the first episode was ever released.

    Go BTTF! I love marty!
  • edited June 2011
You know I don't know how developers do it. It's really funny when a poster hasn't a clue about the company making the game yet spots off hatred and false information as it's fact. I guess reading up and you know actually looking to see what the developer has said is too hard for some.

BTW to get the thread back on track from the goofs. F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5

  • Look if those game sites post misinformation then that is no more telltales fault than the PSN hack. There was no firm release date for episode 5 until just after 4 was released and they quickly announced 'June"

Anyhow back to the topic at hand!

Last month was kind of nice in the sense that we didnt have the constant "could this be the day?" speculation that we had EVERY eligible day in April and nearly every eligible day in March. We could come on the forum and relax. I mean look how many posts this thread got in May vs March or April. And most of the posts were either fun jabs or newbies or PS3/mac owners.

Now I guess we need to start the 'when's it coming' speculation so I'll start:
Episode 1 was a tuesday, 2 was a wednesday, 3 was a monday, and 4 was a friday. So I'll take a stab and say following this pattern, episode 5 will be coming on a thursday. That leaves June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and *gasp* June 30th as possible guesses.
  • edited June 2011
Must we speculate? Can't we be satisfied merely knowing it will come out this month and do other things in the meantime?

Seriously, trust me, overhyping oneself on something just makes it disappoint you.
  • VainamoinenVainamoinen Moderator
    edited June 2011
I'd rather not speculate. But I assume that the episode is almost finished, but there's one specific thing that will happen at a fixed date in June for which TTG has to wait before they can finish the episode. So, this could be any day.
  • edited June 2011
Yea for sure it's going to be post E3. I have no doubt on that. I could picture the big news that they're supposed to have coming at E3 and then the hype for the final episode of the season can start. lol
  • VainamoinenVainamoinen Moderator
    edited June 2011
You might be on to something with E3, but I actually meant that what this "announcement" is about might have to be done at a fixed date in June. Like, having another voice actor who only found the time on June 17th or something... :D
  • edited June 2011
haha why cant TTG just do us a solid for once and just release the game on the 1st? would be totally cool and save tons of people tons of time and keep the arguing and fighting and anger and tempers to a minimum... i mean, seening as most people that are here waiting are loyal customers and end up waiting a long time for every game and all, u'd think with the delay of Jurassic Park, they'd at least be on top of getting the game out to the loyal customers as soon as possible. If this was still ToMI days we'd have a full out mutiny on our hands!!!

    yeah i know..... heavy

Well, if they did manage to get Michael to do some voice overs, a recent back injury might be the hold up:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110531/ap_on_en_ot/us_people_michael_fox_1

They could be waiting further until he feels better to any more on the last part since he's coached the voice actor for Marty from what I've heard for the game thus far. *Correct me if I am wrong here*

Plus Michael's birthday is June 9th, which also could be another possible release date as a sort of celebration. He will be 50 years old.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery and painless rest for that back injury. <3

Edited to add: June 9th being on a thursday... How's that for a date? xD

Indeed. And there's some information about the European release too:
Back to the Future episodes 3 and 4 are currently slated for June 15th in the EU, subject to change. As you can imagine, after being gone for some time we have a lot of commitments with a lot of different publishers that we need to keep, so please be patient if the content you’ve been waiting for isn’t in this first publish.
So if everything goes well, we'll be getting episode 3 and 4 on June 15th. I imagine the US PlayStation Store will be updated at the same time or even sooner.

Yea. That's a very good sign we'll get 4 soon. After all they've been coming out in NA before Europe. And ah that's all trophies on the PS3 version of Episode 3 also. Bring on episode 4 for PSN and 5 for PC now. lol

if i'm not mistaken at least i'm not when it came to thq's dlc for smackdown vs raw 2011 last year, EU got the dlc 3 days after north america did so that's probably the rule of thumb everywhere some type of window between NA and overseas countries concerning release dates
