......Is this Hopeless?
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a Hewlett Packard model p6710f.
AMD Athlon II Quad-Core 640 three.00GHz Processor
2MB L2 Cache, 4000MHz Program Bus
4GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM
1TB (1000GB) 7200RPM Serial ATA Tough Drive
ATI Radeon HD 4200 Integrated graphics with up to 1919MB total available graphics memory
I purchased and tested Walking Dead 5 Episode Series from Gamer's Gate on May 5 2012
"Can you Run It" website says that I can not run this game because it requires "512 Mb Dedicated Video RAM" and all I have is 256 MB.
Well, the game LOOKS fine to me....no stuttering or blurriness. However.
Even before having this computer, something that I noticed about many FPS games was that the mouse felt "funny" no matter what I did. This was in MOST games, with some wonderful exceptions, such as Far Cry #1.
Most FPS games have a funny feel to them....the mouse seems to both lag and to rush...it never goes exactly where I was dragging it, and never at a consistent speed. Precision and predictability are just "off".
Now, I don't much care about fabulous graphics, but I DO care a LOT about responsiveness, and this is my concern. In Walking Dead, I am noticing the horrible old "seasick" feel of the mouse not going where I want when I want.
The interface is, to say the very least, awkward and nonintuitive. If I am expected to crawl away, grab a shotgun, load it, and fire it, all in ten seconds, then I need the interface to be CUSTOMIZABLE and the mouse to RESPOND with speed and above all PRECISION....this game makes the mouse feel as if it is on the end of ten foot pole held out in high winds.
I am looking for is an option, patch or cheat that will allow me to REMAP the keys. I despise using WASD, and always remap movement to the arrow keys by the number pad.
Weirdly, this is a PC game, but the game displays what looks like a cartoon of CONSOLE controller/joystick? What is up with that?
I have a very bad feeling that irrational enthusiasm has cost me $25.
If I thought this was another one of those awful "Ports to PC" I never would have purchased it. Say it isn't so, and there is a PC VERSION I can remap?

Also, is the DPI of your mouse adjustable? For example, I play the game with a Logitech G5 mouse, which has buttons for adjusting the DPI on the fly. In the default position the game's mouse seemed very slow, so I set the mouse for max DPI and the cursor is much more responsive now. Hope that was of help to you..
No offense: This is a brand-new computer, and at $500, it seriously strained my budget to buy. It can be upgraded, and maybe someday I will, but I'm not a "douchebag" type of computer gamer who has the latest tools and IS a tool, buying games as soon as they come out. I've got the cheapest wireless mouse I could find. It has no options I am aware of.
I simply made a hasty choice because I love the Graphic Novel and TV series so much, as well as loving the Zombie genre. I've been burned/disappointed by most zombie content....but especially games.
A few more minutes in, gotta say though it's too damn DARK (contrast and brightness of monitor on MAX) the artwork is amazing.
But the interface is AWFUL.....no zoom? No camera pan? What the FKKKK??
Ah ok, understand you're on a budget, and that's cool. I'm lucky to have a fairly up-to-date computer now. In the old days I was always 2 steps behind everyone else and either couldn't play the latest games at all, or had to dial them down to the lowest settings.
And yeah, the interface is a bit klunky. But this is a point and click adventure game, for which there are never very many options. One thing I did think was downright pathetic was the controls section. Instead of options for reassigning keyboard commands, you get a picture of an X-box controller (and which does absolutely nothing). What were they thinking to put that in a PC game?
Yes, this is ENRAGING. Whoever set the controls for PC deserves to die in screaming agony.
Yeah, being eaten SLOWLY by zombies..
mobility ATI 2600 vid card with only 256mb dedicated ram and the whole game runs well
I do have 6mb ram, i doubt it makes the difference.
Did you try disabling shadows totally? That's how I run.
Get a job.
And then you can get a decent computer, and a decent mouse.
Ahem... your computer is might be "brand-new", but it's far from what's necessary. I hate to say this, but you are going to have turn off a lot of a lot of the bells and whistes, and turn the resolution as well.
wise words
if you want to abuse each other do it out side of the forums...
I'll help with the sinking a little.
