In right to ask a refund

Telltale's episodic games are a series of 2-4 hour, story-driven games that are released online on a regular schedule. The episodes usually have self-contained stories, but they're part of a greater, season-wide arc that becomes apparent as you play the episodes. As with a favorite TV show, the more you play, the more familiar you'll become with the characters and the overarching story.

I think he's trying to establish what the schedule for future episodes is and fears that they won't happen.

Telltale, of course, has a first-class record of getting episodes out there. Of course, they don't present them every five minutes, in a sandbox, consisting entirely of Team Fortress bonuses, without puzzles, which many people seem to find a problem.;)

I could see an issue if they said episode two was being pushed pack two months.. but that is not the case.

    Who cares?
Remember: If there is not delay in the episodes 3, 4 and 5, you will be able to finish this game as expected.

Personally i have done a charge back on my credit card cause steam do not refund, i used the reason, product never deliver..... and it's true....

If you dont receive your paycheck, you will cry like a baby, me when i pay for something i whant it as espected, else put it in your ***

Even i dont have receive, dont know, maybe a email, sorry we have delay cause we made to much money to fast and so, are in vacancy, you know... will try to work on it in 2013...

So you guy really dont care, even if the game is finish on 2014 ?
  • edited May 2012
    @Doucet:
Obviously you are wrong. You received the first part of the game already, so asking the whole money back is wrong. Also, if the seller is in delay, you have to give a reasonable time for them to deliver. Maybe you could ask for a refund, if you did not receive all five episodes by end of August or September.

And about your paycheck example. Would you quit your job if you did not receive the paycheck on time. Do you think that you had the rights to do so?

Many games miss their deadlines. To be surprised, shocked, or outraged seems a little silly. They will release it when the team behind the game feels it is up par. This isn't an Electronic Arts sports game where they can just type up a different team roster and pump it out as 'new'.

But most games don't make you pay in advance and then not hit the monthly releease target that people paid for.

Pre-orders for new games are the same. When I bought this game I understood I would not get the whole product until months from now. I like getting bits and pieces of the finished product rolling out instead of waiting for the whole game to be done in Autumn.

Walking Dead Episode 1 release date - 25th April

    Current date - 31st May

Good grief, I've gone for longer periods without food. Why are people acting like a couple of days over is a declaration of war on their consumer rights? We're talking about creative works here, you have to allow for some small compromise when it comes to the deadlines.

I am not ticked off, I would just like an "Expected date" announcement. I am in software development so if they say "The second week of x", I know they are hoping to have it down the last week of (x-1) but may take until week three of x. I would just like any news.

Doucet, I'm really hoping Steam takes the game away from you if you did a charge back on them. It is not really right to ask for a refund just because you are too impatient to wait a little bit on a single episode. Also I'm just going to assume English is not your first language because I'm having a hard time trying to follow anything you say.

Someone in some thread said that even if Episode Two is late, doesn't mean the others will be.

That would be a sight, Episode two released July 10th. Followed immediately by the already complete three, four, and five!

Trust me it won't. I have played telltales games for years, and trust me when I tell you that they do deliver. There may be the occassional delay, as there are times when things don't go as planned. S*** happens.
I think it's ridiculous that you are already crying for a refund. When you bought the series, you knew that you were paying in advance for the episodes. Just because you lack patience, it doesn't mean you have any right in getting your money back.

Personally, I love the game. But bitterly disappointed that I was only able to play Episode One. Okay. I'm over it. Now that a month has passed, and still no Episode 2. Still disappointing. Episode delayed, rumored longer then the month that was suggested, and now possible another month? The fact that these episodes are supposedly not finished is outrageous. Paid my $20. Now I have to wait half a year before I finish the game. Thanks Tell Tale.

I strongly dislike this kind of people.

Even if you really don't like the game, man up and accept that you made a bad choice then. It's your fault, if you don't inform yourself about how the game is being delivered. More plausible reasons, why you do this:

    - You're cheap and just want a free copy of the game.
    - You can't wait a month (+some days) for the next episode and that pisses you off.
    - You're a hot head buying stuff by credit card, before thinking

Why do you complain here, instead of just contacting telltalegames directly then? Are you trying to discredit them or to find some other whiny users, who tell you that you're right and TTG should pay you 2million USD as compensation for your pain?

Maybe to soothe most peoples opinions a big letter announcment from telltale like weeks ahead of time woulda been nice like say" hay sorry but we have to delay episode too do to some unforseen circumstance woulda been nice. No we get the silent treatment which is not okay, either way im normally not so pessimistic and im sure we have days before its release hell maybe if were lucky we wont have to wait as long after episode 2 for 3.

It's not delayed. They announced it was going to be released in June way back on May 17. Telltale sometimes takes a few months between the first and second episode so they can give themselves some wiggle room for the rest of the season. They did the same thing for Back to the Future. They only ever do a two month break for the first episode though, the rest of the episodes are released once a month.

Lol, you sad excuse for a gamer... Do you go to your game store as well when you pick a game that turns out is a dud after you pop it in your PC or console? I can hear the salesmen there lol from the moment you came in 'till the store closes.
You made the (in your opinion) faulty choise, your the cheap bastard and you just wanna rip of a free copy by trying to pull Creditcard fraud... I hope they catch you and you get a fine on top of the games normal costs and they should not let ass-anine rejects like you have Credit Cards in the firstplace!

thing is jen they didn't advertise or mention the two month gap (but i do know they do it), but it should be in the faq which it isn't/wasn't last i checked and they did claim a monthly release which is what most people don't understand and are complaining about..

and as for doucet maybe come unstuck as the charge back may stop him/her playing the following episodes and then we'll get WARES MAH EPTOOO..

Er, yes you do. Customers pre-order things in order that the developer has seed money to actually make the things in the first place. This is not unusual.

(Just to put things in context, I've recently finally recieved a book that was... something like eighteen months late.)

Except you were told that the game was episodic with new episodes releasing approximately every month. If you chose to buy the game without doing any research into what you were buying, then that's entirely your fault.

Besides, ever preordered a game before? Guess what you just paid for.

amazing how so many don't think before they leap...

just jump on the bandwagon without any thoughts on the consequences of their actions...

assuming everything is fine and dandy is not a smart way to live...

I hope people understand that doing a chargeback from STEAM gets your whole STEAM account banned. Just an FYI they suspend every game you have on there, so good luck with that. No way to take back a chargeback either once it's been completed. So essentially you're screwing yourself.

    Enjoy > https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5406-WFZC-5519

It was a steal for 5 episodes of a game when it took me 4 hours or so to beat the first part the game and go through all the little nitty gritty parts. So yes, $25 was well worth the 5 episodes over the course of this year and next year that I'll be playing.

Love how people complain about things and then when a game gets released that is buggy to all hell they end up complaining saying it shouldn't have been released. Let game developers do their job and develop the game. I would expect them to announce something about Episode 2 in the coming weeks of June.
  • edited June 2012
I hope Doucet's Steam account got banned. Nothing worse than a whiny child that can't handle a short delay to a game.

Just curious how many of you are Walking Dead Fans...Do I see all of your hands; yes because we are all here for the same reason we love The Walking Dead.

I find it sort of unusual that many of you are picking fights with people over the internet because at the end of the day we all want the same thing; the next episode of the game.

As a whole; we should be worried about receiving what we all paid for; not praying to whatever god you believe in that someone's account gets banned etc.

I do not think anyone should be blamed for no doing their "research" on TTGames..I don't think you could give me 101 good enough reasons as to why this delay on episode two is even acceptable. If anyone wants to ask for a refund; they should feel free to do so without you fan boys freaking out! When I pay for a service I expect business to be conducted so within the agreed upon terms. Telltale has not fulfilled their side of the agreement so they should have no problem returning the money they so quickly accepted; for a product that was promised on MONTHLY basis...keep the monthly part in mind.

If this was any other service where you paid ahead of time and waited every month for your service/product/etc. you would be just as pissed.

I'm one of the fans that doesn't write GI, or complain on the forums...but when I purchase something under certain terms I expect that the other party fulfills their end of the bargain.

TellTale Games this will also be my last purchase from your studio. As another member had mentioned in another thread, Telltale may have been the wrong studio to give this project to.
  • edited June 2012
It's not the refund that bothers me. It's the fact that he does it while expecting to keep the game. It's not like another game where a delay months. This delay is barely anything at all. Most people expected it in late May, it hasn't even been a week. People need to get over themselves and play another game or something in the meantime.
