The Doug/Carly Situation (Possibile Spoilers?) and etc...

You know, I think Telltale Games has hinted, or sometimes, openly stated, that people preferring to save Carly over Doug, surprised them. One of them reasoned, after all, because Carly knew Lee's secret, it would lead us to abandon her.

I don't see it that way, though. It's BECAUSE she knows Lee's secret, that's why I saved her. The logic? She already knows, but decided not to reveal it. If she made her choice, three months ago (between Episode 1 and 2), to not reveal it, she's unlikely to "blown away" by Larry's revelation (if there is one). And considering that she kept it secret, she might have already decided quite a bit. I don't know if this was intended, but we got to see and interact a quite a bit more with Carly than Doug. She helps save your group, and stands up to Larry. She also helps you "save" Irene.

On the other hand, it does NOT help that Doug isn't as grateful when you save him. Doug stating that he would have rather you saved Carly doesn't really help his case. It doesn't help his case when he seems a bit more "matter-of-fact", and doesn't seem to interact with others that much.

It's not that I don't like Doug, it's just that, for intents and purposes, it seems that being able to interact with Carly more has an effect.

I saved Carly but i hadnt thought of that, good logic.

Actually, that line when he says you should have saved her instead, really got me and made me like the guy a lot more. It was obvious there was some sort of relationship forming. It wasn't that he was acting ungrateful, you could tell there is a good chance Doug would have laid his life down just to save Carly.

Well it didnt change my opinion about him, because when you save Doug, in the episode 2 trailer he offers you an energy bar and says something like 'hey, c'mon i owe you a lot more than a half eaten candy bar', so we know he said the previous thing('you should have saved Carly') because of his anger in the heat of the moment. Well they both have their skills Carly's a good shot and a reporter(who doesnt know about batteries...) and Doug is good with electronics and the way Carly puts it, a 'hero'. But still, the logic in the first post made me wanna stick with Carly 'till the end...

Saving doug you get his tech skills so could be helpful with repairs of any kind and he does help Save Carly before so we know he isn't totally useless, he does run Pretty fast when she gets her face eaten though...seems like the unexpected hero type? Saving Carly you get the sharpshooter obviously but she knows your secret, but we do know if you say you don't trust her she does seem upset, also maybe next episode carly and Lee get closer then probably get torn apart for maximum impact (hopefully literAlly) :p either wAy it will be interesting to find out where thing lead

Here's my question . If Sean Vainaman is the writer why do we have a mod named Vainamoinen? shouldnt he be a red font?

I initially chose Carly on my first playthrough, but decided on the second time around to save Doug. Carly does have more player interaction, but that may just be an oversight. Also, the whole, "only two people no you're secret idea" I have a feeling Larry is gone episode 2. Nobody knows your history now except for Clem? Awesome. Plus, Doug's tech skills will come in handy. :D

I saved him (by mistake) on my first playthrough, and then played again and saved her. Maybe after we got to the Motel, I was just in a hurry to just get the game over and save it, but aren't the speeches Doug and Carly give when you're talking to them, the exact same, word for word?

They aren't related. I don't even think Vainamonien lives in America...

As for me, I've already stated why I killed off Carley(she's an idiot, shooting 4 feet isn't a good shot, wasted ammo, could have actually handled things herself by kicking the zombie grabbing her foot, etc...), but then also, she knew the secret and does have that against me at all times. She SAYS she will keep it secret, but you guys are too trustworthy, when she starts arguing with someone you want to side with, she will bring up the secret and you don't get much of a choice then now do you.
  • I saved Doug because he was more useful than Carley, and I was right he did more, more people in the group liked him, and he is just so frickin hilarious XD
