[Spoilers] Duck

edited September 2012 in The Walking Dead
At the end, it said that 79% shot Duck (including me). I guess a lot of people wanted the pleasure of killing him themselves. xP

I loved this chapter, hated that little shit since the very beginning.

no its just i couldn't let my friend kill his own son

I think Kenny did not deserve to suffer so much having to shoot his own son.
    Then I shot him duck!
Kenny is My Friend,l had to help him!

Yeah, not everyone likes killing annoying kids, mate ._.

I just did it because as much as Kenny and Lee have their disagreements, I just couldn't let the man suffer any more. I almost couldn't do it and got all teary eyed and shit, but well, as Chuck says: "someone had to do it".

I didnt want to start Ep 4 with 'you MFer you shot my son!'
    So I didnt

I doubt that's the reason. Shooting Duck seems more "nice" so their parents don't have to do it. Plus the game literally forces it on you. First during the argument and even if you send Kenny or Katjaa in the woods it asks you again to shoot duck. I actually let Kenny shoot him on my "asshole-play".

I didn't like Duck, but I was in shock when I saw that he was bitten. I did what had to be done, for Duck and for his parents. There was no pleasure involved... none at all!

It's funny. A lot of people weren't too fond of Duck in the first couple episodes. I think he grew on me with that Batman/Robin thing, and I just couldn't let Kenny kill him. I didn't enjoy shooting him either.

I actually let Kenny take his son out of this world but not to make him suffer. I did it because I felt it was the right thing to do. Duck was Kenny's responsibility and he was the one with the right to do it, I have a feel that if Lee was the one to take the shot Kenny will regret it later on in his life. (That's if he survives for much more longer)

I have been given reason to believe that you just might be a disturbed individual my friend.

I shot Duck but only because that shouldnt be the job of a parent. Kenny is a friend and I wasnt going to make him go through that.

I definitely didnt get some kind of sick pleasure out of killing a kid. I know it's a game and maybe it's the fact that I have two kids of my own but that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do involving a video game.

    That was my thought.

Ten year olds. With their storytelling and laughing and comic books.

I can see why people hate Duck so much.

That's a rather big accusation based on one post, I'd say. It's because I can differentiate between real life and games that I could say that.

It's a game. Duck was a hinderance and very annoying, especially his voice. I was glad to finally see him go. Obviously, if it were real life, I'd have a different mindset on the matter. But it's a game, he annoyed me, so I wanted him to die. That's all.

I can differentiate between the two also. I just can't imagine rooting for the death of a child whether it be in reality, a novel, tv, video game, whatever. Yeah it's a game but Duck was a normal kid in the game who did real life kid things (yes, even the tractor incident) would do and it was heartbreaking (to me) seeing him getting worse and worse.

While you can tell the difference between a game and real life, to me it's your actions on games that can tell a lot about who you are and what your character is.

i think by suggesting that kenny (he agrees) should kill him so that katjaa takes him on her own then we can console kenny then see him fall to his knees, then hear the shot then walk slowly up towards katjaa and duck seeing a bird, then finding katjaa dead with duck still left to deal with, is more dramatic than saying you will do it and then them going off you hear a shot and come to see katjaa has killed herself.

or at least it's more to my dramatic tastes even if you change your mind about who should shoot duck i think katjaa going off into the wood alone was better.

i chose to kill duck the first time because i didn't feel like he needed to do it and he already killed larry after i said he should, so i could take some of the responsibility this time and kill duck, not because i hated duck

Well the writing is pretty obvious.... EP1: "hate that annoying shitkid, will let him die the first chance I get!". EP2 "don't care about the kid". Ep3: "Awww, he was Robin helping me investigate... he gave me a high-five which was kinda cute awwwww" "Oh he now died? Nooooooooooooo!!!!! Poor Duck!"... Everything is so damn dumbed down and obvious.

Too much for my taste but I guess many people fell for it.

I wont lie, the highfive gesture took Duck off my shitlist.
I never disliked the kid, they just really gave him a shitty ep1 with killing Sean and the ruckus in the drugstore was amplified because everyone thought he was bit. When you look back at the episodes, it really is kinda tragic he died. After Ep1 he wasnt a problem at all and start of 3 he was really starting to grow on me for the first time in the season

That's EXACTLY how I felt about it. Duck was Kenny's kid, it was up to him to take care of his family one last time. I simply supported him through his terrible duty.

I found it interesting that in a silent play through Kenny obviously takes on the mantle of doing it himself.
But when the moment arrives and you get the choice to say something to coax him on, if you stay quiet Kenny just can't bring himself to do it so both he and Lee end up walking away. Poor Duck just gets left as a walker.

is this real?? Never stayed silent. i was nice once, did it myself once, and yelled do it the third time thru. Poor duckie:(

Yes, it's real. You don't see Duck reanimate, you just leave him propped against the tree, dying.

I think it'd be awesome if in doing that, Zombie-Duck comes back and kills Ben in Savannah...

    What's with the Ben hate?

But it's okay for people to want him to die, since he's not a kid. :(

The "Defence of Ben" thread is about 5 threads down, straight past "Doug/Carley Spoilers", can't miss it.
