Phone Messages From Clems Parents

So according to the messages from clems mother, her dad had a run in with a crazy guy at the hotel and was taken to the ER (Bitten) . He was not feeling well enough to drive home so obviously her dad is dead/living dead. What are the chances of her mom being alive? And is it almost a no brainer not to trust the man with the radio?
