Did you decide to cut Lee's arm off or not?

edited January 2013 in The Walking Dead
I personally decided to cut it off. It seemed that if there was any way I was going to live through this at all that I was going to have to cut it off (although, the only person I've ever seen survive a bite in TWD is Herschel from the TV Show). I mean, of course, it didn't matter anyways. But how many of you cut off your arm and how many of you didn't? Also, why?

I cut it off because I wanted Lee to survive and Clementine too. :D

I kept my arm knowing there was no chance lee would survive this and he might as well die in 1 piece. Although i did like that some scenes changed depending if you cut it off or not.

Unfortunately, it seems like it only ended up being a detriment. Lee succumbs to the infection either way. Which I think is stupid, the ending was too predictable, and saw it coming a mile away. Er... actually, never mind. I'd rather it be predictable then them trying to do something new and screwing everything *thinks of ACIII and ME3*

I do think that it could've been a bit... brighter. I'm not a big fan of extremely sad endings. Still though, Lee ended up succeeding. At least it didn't make it look like everything I did was for nothing.

well it can be speculated if you cut it off that maybe lee would die by blood loss instead of the bite but again either way lee wouldnt survive. It was kinda obvious that it would end sad since it is the walking dead and lee went out like a hero.

Me too, although I thought I would breake the controller the amount of hammering I gave it, my parents thought I was crazy lol

I cut his arm off. I thought he would survive the bite.
  • edited November 2012
I didn;t want to take the chance of dying of blood loss along the way, or needing two arms and only having one. Funny thing though, on my first play I failed at strangling Campman and Clem had to shoot him, but on my second play where I DID cut the arm off I pretty much ground his windpipe to paste.

I thought it was too late and I'll die anyway so I didn't cut my arm off.
  • edited November 2012
I didn't, because putting myself in Lee's place I'd be a bit scared because of the pain he would feel and because of the massive blood loss. And then I thought about Lee going after Clem with only one arm... so I thought - "Nope, not gonna happen." -

I figured if he cut it off he would have survived. :( I may replay it and not do it this time though just to see what was different.

I chopped it off. I needed to survive for Clementines sake no matter what. Even if it was just to live a little longer. Figured it was the final episode, maybe they'd throw me a different ending for deciding to to go such a brutal extreme, how naive a thought.

I cut it off, though I was disappointed I couldn't find a chainsaw to fit over it.

I was totally suprised by the option to cut off your arm!
Took me completely off guard, so I went for it without really thinking. Hoped it would work since it was an actual choice and felt really wierd seeing Lee without his arm.
In the end, although I was pretty pissed off that the amputation option didn't even change his fate, I'm still satisfied the depressing, epic ending :)

Still though TT...why the hell couldn't you make the amputation a vaild end-changing choice? Still would've been a great ending having Lee survive regardless to say.

So sad for Lee to die! I ddn't want Clem to have to go to Omid and Christa when Clem had been through so much with Lee! But i decided to cut his arm off in hope he would make it. Keeping them both seemed like giving up hope during first gameplay! Like to think he sucumb to his blood loss over the bite!

I'm kinda sad I cut it off for ONLY this reason :).

I didnt cut it off, because it was too late for that. + I wanted to kick the ass of the one that kidnapped Clem.

I cut it off, but knew it wouldn't change anything. I like the way the horde fight changes if you have both hands though.

I cut it off, because at this point it doesn't really matter if you lose an arm, I thought it would have actually kept me from turning until another walker bit me or some shit, but it didn't.
I heard it did keep you from fainting more though.
And strangling Campman with one hand was just too epic.

i knew lee would die no matter what so i did it

I was bummed that Lee was going to die and when the time came to decide about the arm I decided Lee should keep his arm. All this time, one playthrough with no rewinds, I felt I owed it to Lee. One last time, let the hero be heroic with both arms on one last mission.

I knew I had done right by Lee when I saw him pick up that glass shard with one hand and the cleaver in the other then start tearing into a gaggle of walkers.

I feel like the ending where you have both arms is way more emotional. Instead of saying you were bitten you just show her your arm and clem's all like what no...no no no no no. That was where I cried:p Everywhere else it was misty eyes or almost tears but right then i just cried. Then I said I was sorry cuz I couldn't look after her anymore and she's all "I KNOW!" damn game;)

    This.

And I thought that Lee needed more two arms than extra suffering and being mutilated.

I hacked it off because I knew keeping it would make me faint 24-7.
  • edited November 2012
There shouldve been an option to cut it off as soon as they got to the morgue, not after he started to show symptoms ._.

I cut it off on one, kept it on other. With both arms he faints more, but ending is more emotional, and fight scenes more awesome. But I would like to keep that slight hope that SOMEHOW if you cut the arm off and choose to leave him, he magically makes it xD You can get rid of the arm to lose the infection, keep him from getting bitten more times, not handcuff him so he can leave, and not kill him. At the very least I hope it affects something later on, like you see him as a walker later or find him alive. Idc either way, I just thought leaving him like he had no chance was an insult to Lee. He may have been infected, and we know he was sick, but can we be sure he really dies? Telltale loves to pull this type of twist, as so does TWD series. For all you know Clem never shot him because you hear slight breathing after she takes the shot. When you leave him maybe he just fainted again. But for an infected he lasted alot longer than most in my opinion. Maybe I'm just stubborn and bull-headed for not wanting to off Lee knowing he's a goner, but damn... Lee, really? Makes you wish you could jump in the game and make your own choices, cause I think most of us knew what was coming in that trash, and we were all screaming "AMPUTATE!!!!" when he was bitten lol. Oh well, we shall see this year I suppose. Gonna prepare for the worst yet hope for best with next season!

I did not, because (a) I knew it was already way too late to matter since the group waited so long to act, and (b) thematically the death of the mentor figure is a classic in literature, and (c) there's as much a danger of bleeding out in having a limb cut off as there is of any sort of life being saved. David's death showed us that much.

I know a hopeless case when I see one. :(

I didn't cut it off for two reasons:

1 - The "bite" most likely already spread through his whole body.

2 - If you don't cut it off, it's not like Lee is going to die, and if you DO cut it off, he lives, the game would be totally unfair and stray really far from each other, so It wouldn't matter.

I cut it of because it made sense from Lees standpoint.
Because as said the bite doesn't kill you, but the infection of the wound (bacteria etc. from the zombie) will. So cutting of the arm may work.

While playing the game I tried not to think about what should be happening out of a dramatic standpoint or something like that. I just tried to imagine what Lee feels at the moment. And maybe having a little more time to rescue Clem without Blackouts may be enough to do it.

I really believed (well rather hoped) Lee would make it at least to the train until I saw his pale face on the way back with Clementine :(

I decided to chop off of the arm, but I'll play Episode 4 again tomorrow or so, and I'll keep the arm.

Wonder what the changes will be like. :)
  • edited January 2013
I kept both arms. I figured if Lee was blacking out then the infection had already spread past the bite itself. I also didn't really think cutting your arm off to buy yourself more time made much sense either since you're going to lose time cutting it off from blood loss and shock.

My only thought was getting to Clementine has fast as possible and I figured that would be easier with both arms.
  • edited January 2013
Cut it off for the slim chance of surviving.

In addition, one handed Lee has some funny dialogue options and is a totally badass wtfpwning the zombie herd with one hand.
  • edited January 2013
I didn't because I figure if the infection had progressed to the point where it would cause me to faint, it wouldn't help to simply remove the arm because it was already in my body.

I figured it would be useful to have both arms for when I met the kidnapper.

Ditto; after he passed out that first time I kinda had the feeling that hacking off the arm was just rearranging chairs on the Titanic. Didn't seem like it'd make a difference at that point, so I didn't bother.

I cut it off. I sort of figured that it was too late, but I'd rather take a slim chance at survival than knowing 100% you're going to die. Plus i knew it could work since it does in the comics.

In the end, though, i think keeping the arm is the better decision.

I refused to cut it off.
I knew Lee was dead anyway, but he still had unfinished business and a little girl to save. And it's much better to use everything you've got to achieve the objective. Lee was becoming weaker with every minute, and making him a physically disabled person combine with severe blood loss wasn't the best decision for me.

I didn't cut it off, but I regretted it pretty quickly.
It was such a hasty decision, but afterwards I thought: Oh shit, the fever is gonna get him.
