    Exciting news, survivors!

Can't wait for it to come out. =)

Sorry if this was already posted, but wanted to share with you all.

Probably some DLC, don't see any other option... Maybe we'll have an open world to play in? :o But nah, that would take too much I think. Anyone else have any idea what this might be?

Maybe they're finally gonna make The Walking Dead Tycoon!

Spoilers for those who haven't seen the ending of Episode 5:
Perhaps it's a short story starring the two people Clementine sees after the ending credits? I have a feeling that their presence will be important for the upcoming Season 2 game, and an episode about them before Season 2 might be possible.

    It could be.

I'd pay between 240 MSP ($3) to 400 MSP ($5) at max, but if it's really short then 240 MSP is the right price.

Plus, Bing Rewards helps out getting MSP for Xbox 360 purchases, but so far with The Walking Dead I paid for the episodes myself than Bing Rewards. Either way, it's money that'll go towards the devs/company.

Gosh I hope you play as a walker, dragging yourself from location x to season 2's location y.

(And when season 2 begins, you're the first death. :P )

    Who said anything about paying?

I mean, chances still are it's a bonus.

Even for the XBOX version? Last I heard, Microsoft was really strict about developers not releasing free DLC. I'm pretty sure Valve has openly complained about it.

I believe DLC can be free if there are no achievements for it.

There has been free DLC and free full games with achievements.

Doritos Crash Course, Harms Way and Hexic HD, just to name a few.

Indie Games are the ones that never have achievements.

I doubt they will become "The Walking Dead" Company, but this will be their franchise game and most of their resources will be towards this game (Only if Season 2 succeed's though, they cannot mess it up or all this will be forgotten). It's the right decision and the reward would be huge.

TellTale hit a "Jackpot" with this game. This was absolutely huge... I actually don't remember a GOTY before this one where so many people agreed on a game. In fact they made history at the VGA's by winning that award away form the triple A titles. Nobody expected that to happen, and I was amazed when they did.

If TellTale plays their hands right, this game could transform their entire company. The same way that Half-Life made valve, the same way that GTA 3 made Rockstar, the same way that CoD 4 made Activision, the same way that Minecraft got so huge. Every company needs a start from somewhere, and this was the biggest/most hyped game of the entire year. When you get something like this, you have to take the opportunity.

Now, I'm not saying TWD will become the next Half-Life/GTA/CoD because it won't. But this can easily become the next Assassins Creed, the next Bioshock, the next Mass Effect, etc. Titles that sell millions without a question. Can't blame them for putting all their time into the next season. They have to do it.

Also I disagree and think this was their best game. But this is all opinion.

    telltale take note
ride the popularity/media surf into greatness
    please dont wipeout!

Has anybody else heard anything about the extra content that ttg is bringing out before season 2. I have read a couple of articles online but with no confirmation, the main one being from IGN???

When they said season 2 would be out in the fall they also mentioned when questioned on extra content that "We'll probably have something to announce fairly soon about what we're going to do" and that "it'll be different".

All we have at the moment i think. Dying to know more.

maybe it would be beatrices story XD i REALLY 100% want to hear about beatrice.

With season 2 coming soon this year the bonus content if it really is coming must just be round the corner right?

That's what I'm thinking/hoping. We've still got time, but it does seem weird there's no info at all on even the bonus content, with season 2 aiming for this fall.
  • edited March 2013
next two or three months for the bonus i'd say..

since season 1 averaged 6 to 8 weeks per episode...

and we assume they're using the same engine and 'gameplay'...hopefully improved it too :P

Should be. :) That would be awesome though.

Personally I don't think they should make the bonus episode on looting the army base. Although it would be kind of cool, slotting it into the existing story could be awkward. I don't want to replay episode 2 thinking "You know, everyone seems calm considering so and so died or happened" and "Why isn't Mark more upset over seeing his friends die. I think the strangers story is more plausible and could be quite good as it would help us see how a good man becomes insane. That would be interesting.

But what I think would be a really cool idea would be Ben's story. We could play as Ben, a fellow student or even Mr Parker or a different teacher with the task of protecting his class and having to watch each of them die. It could be interesting as it deals with a whole new age group and background. Or it could be a terrible idea. Honestly I would happily pay for "Poker night at the motel" DLC.

This! Playing cards and sharing a few beers with the gang would make for one hell of a breather episode!

while ont he subject of potential flash backs..

what about clem at home, before lee finds her ?

assuming we are clem in season 2 the bonus dlc could be used to test peoples reaction to being clem ? we get to do a bit of scavenging, see someone turn again, find out how why 'the babysitter' died...what clem did other than hide in the treehouse and anyone else that came looking for supplies..

then a brief bit on were clem is 'now'

Well Mark seems pretty settled by the time of episode 2 so i reckon he's been there a while, a few months is probably enough time for him to get over it a little bit,

Even in the existing story the dead don't get mentioned a lot once we are past the immediate aftermath and explaining what happened, Larry and Duck/Kat have family in the group so obviously they do, but from the others (using my choices), we only really have Doug being referenced by Lee/Carley once, Carley when talking to Kat and possibly the stranger, Kenny once possibly with the stranger. Mark, Chuck and Ben never IIRC. With that and the fact we only have a small amount of time talking to Mark probably a long time after these deaths, its not surprising we don't see him mourning.

There is one interesting moment that when Ben's teacher dies, Kenny gets very angry and storms off. Makes me think that Mark was an isolated success story from a much bigger list of people they tried to save.

Tbh all of the ideas sound quite good though. Ep 1-3 was my favourite time period and group dynamic so i'd always like to see a little more of it, while the stranger would be very interesting and probably the best option they have to make something really dark,

On Bens school, considering that Ben and Travis were the survivors from that group i can only imagine how inept the rest of them must have been :p

I came with the flood of pre-ordering Walking Dead fans, and haven't had much experience with waiting on games and in-between game content with TTG. I know that S2 will have to be bought and paid for, but I'm curious about 'Season 1.5' (a I've heard some referring to it as :P).

Will it be considered more of an episode 6, and come included with pre-ordered packages, will it be free for everyone, or $5.00 as an individual episode?

Does anyone know? Or have experience with having had this happen with other games from TTG?

    Thanks! :)
  • edited March 2013
I'm assuming it will be called something like episode 5.5 or season 1.5(as you've said), and yes, I think you'll have to pay around $5 too.
  • edited March 2013
We don't even know if its actually going to be an episode/mini episode so its hard to speculate on price. I actually think it might not be, as all we know is that it will be "different".

Though they are building some hype for it so you figure it has to be something somewhat meaningful. To your question, I'd say if it is ep 1.5 where you play as a zombie following Lee and the gang from Macon to Savannah or whatever else itll be, it probably wont be free.

As Sox said, we still don't know what this extra content is going to be. For all we know it could just be a browser-based flash game.

As far as I know, producing extra content is unprecedented for Telltale. I hope that it's free, but I wouldn't mind paying $5 or so if it's worth it.

There's no precedent and there's no information yet. It's definitely not even clear if anything like a "bonus episode" (or "Season 1.5") is even envisioned (and I guess not).
  • edited March 2013
What if it's just a Ultimate edition or something with commentary and concept art? XD
  • edited March 2013
Oh, I definitely wouldn't mind paying, I was just curious what TTG's usual protocol was with this kind of thing. :)
And I wouldn't mind concept art or a "game of the year edition"! Or even just a character profile-type thing. (Short stories on background for non-comic characters.)
Pretty much I'm looking forward to anything, as I love teasers for upcoming games, background stories for established games, and TTG has proven over and over that they have a wonderful crew. Whether concept art or background stories, I know the DLC will be amazing. :)

I know we don't even know what it is yet but I'm also hoping for an extra episode. I'm surprised there isn't more hype for it though given it's supposedly due sometime this Summer, it seems other sites are barely even acknowledging it or don't even know of it.

It's hard to hype something when very little is known about it.

You have to keep in mind that all we have is an off the cuff remark by a writer in an interview. We have no official statement or anything. It might not even be happening.

True but I'm used to this kind of thing getting people speculating. I wasn't complaining, just saying usually this would be all over the internet as it's not hard to hype up something little is known about at all in my experience.
