Its not actually a trap When you cross the bridge you get the option to speak to nick when he's sat in front of the station, he talks to you and notices that he forgot his watch he is upset because it was pete's and if you give it to him he thanks you and doesn't think you stole it.
I'm felling pretty sure Clementine would do something about that, Really don't know what the hell is the point of that watch, Maybe If its a Item that later on the group was gonna need, Clem could just sneak up and put the watch back?

Maybe the watch was a trap ... But maybe the trap is that it looks like a trap. Then again, maybe Telltale want us to believe that the trap is… more that the trap looks like a trap, thus traping us with another trap.
i don't even know what the heck I just said. Be right back, gonna suture my tongue.

Seriously though, I think we'll have the chance to plant it on someone after it comes up missing. I think it will be a way to get rid of an enemy in the house, go plant it then tell on them.

I was thinking more along the lines of Pete given the scenario at the end of the episode; Pete either dies if you chosen Nick or lives with hi… mores bitten leg(we seen that scenario play out with Lee and duck and how it ended.) My theory is that if and when Pete dies his family will ask for that watch and if Clem has it they will find out it got stolen since its not there.

Personally, I think telltale might reverse-surprise us. and by that I mean. instead of stealing the watch having bad implications and negative… more storyline stuff.
I think that instead, if we don't take the watch, somewhere later in the next episode(s), clem(and co.) will stumble upon an event or something. and clem will be like "if only I had a watch", and we the players will be like "ooooh nooooo...."
.......that said, I didn't take the watch. Didn't find it in my first playthrough.

I had Clem leave it. Other than out of sheer necessity (like needing those medical supplies) I thought stealing was out of character for her. … moreAlso my guess is that stealing the watch is going to backfire on players who went that route. The group might be able to overlook raiding their medical supplies, but they might be unlikely to overlook Clem stealing other belongings. That calls her character into question.

I went to just check it out, and she took it. Didn't want to take it, but oh well. It may be a trap, but seeing as how it's an "obvious trap… more" it may actually just be useful with no real downside. (if TT wants us to think its a trap" I've been thinking that in a later episode there may be a "trade" type of situation where the watch will be necessary.
EDIT: I'd be willing to bet that later in the game someone will say they need the watch for some serious situation, and then we will have a choice whether to give them the watch (then get in trouble for stealing but help the person,) or hold on to the watch (not help the person but not look like a thief.)

I saw it, but I thought that if this group was a more long-term solution then I shouldn't go out of my way to be marked as a thief (more than … moreI already am anyway), Besides, if someone kept such a thing during the Apocalypse then it might be something he treasures, like a gift from his wife or whatnot, much like Larry's ring, so I didn't take it.
Besides, it's not like I'm going to exchange it against some money at the next city's tradebroker, I don't really see how that watch can be of any use at the moment. Knowing Telltale it certainly has it's importance though, we'll see !

I saw the watch and immediately thought " OH hell no, that is such an obvious trap for later". I could smell the evil from the telltale writin… moreg crew all over that. 50 bucks says it's Petes watch and someone will try to go get it at his request or get it because its a family heirloom or something and then Clem will be labeled a thief and...yea.

I also thought that it might be a trap...but still took it. My reasoning behind it...if the watch still works it would be useful for Clementin… moree. Also Lee shown her that stealing is fine in that savegame.
Will probably not take it in the other one. Not sure yet.

I saw it as a trap immediately and left it.
That said, with my luck the only trap will be TellTale expecting you to expect it to be a trap … moreand making it a good thing to take the watch, thus punishing us who were seeking to not be punished (Enter Xzibit)

Dang, after reading this and thinking about it some more, I think I'm going to go back and do the episode again. I hate doing that, but I didn… more't want to take the watch in the first place, and I don't want it to burn me down the road. At least this time should be fairly quick since I'll know exactly what to do.

I did not want to take it cause of all the stuff mentioned above, but my video game instinct got the better of me so i took it, more items in the inventory.
Just to clarify: this thread is over a year old. As in, only episode 1 was out at the time. This was before episode 2 came out and the 'consequences' of taking the watch were revealed.

I know how is that watch good:
In S2E2, when at the house when everyone crosses the bridge, Nick will imply that "I forgot. to bring that… more watch!!! Goddamn it was from Pete!!"
If you took it from the Cabin, you have the option to give it to Nick.
From that point forward, it will not have any mentions, but it always appears on Nick's wrist (Until his death in E2 or E4)
To be honest i was looking around the house at the 1st time of my 1st play of season 2 and found it and took it it never appealed to me someone in the cabin could of owned the watch but i thought it was bad to take the watch but when nick mentioned about the watch in episode 2 i knew it was the right thing to take the watch so i could return it to him to cheer him up

Dude, this thread was old as hell.
It's best not to revive them.
