Season 2 - Cannot save game
Season 2 episode 1 doesn't allow me to select my save device and doesn't save my game.
I fired the game up and ploughed through to about 60% I'd guess when the game got stuck on an event. I'd just died and was retrying when it hung. I could pause and quit to menu so I did but on restarting it turns out I have no save file. Back to square 1.
I've restarted and played through until I saw it say "Saving", waited for that to finish and exited ... still no save file. Back to square 1 again.
Following a few restarts and moving my episode 1 import from Cloud to HDD I realised the game didn't prompt me for a storage device when it started (HDD/Cloud/USB) so I'm assuming it doesn't know where to save so just doesn't bother.
I'm not clearing out my cloud saves just to play this so hopefully there's some workaround for it?
Up until this point I was really enjoying the game. Kinda ruined it now playing through the first few sections so many times and knowing I'm going to have to do everything again, really breaks up the flow.

I have the same issue, the game says it autosaves, but doesn't. I lost all my progression after dying. It was stuck on the death screen and wouldn't let me continue.
Please make sure you are not using a different profile than the one you purchased the game on. If you confirm you are using the same profile, please make sure you are playing on the same Xbox that you purchased the game on.
I made an account just to respond to this issue. I too waited all day to get home and play this only to have 2 game breaking glitches happen to me over and over. Dying causes the game to hang up in a way that does not let me continue. Pressing A (to continue) does nothing, the only way to get past this is the press start and quit to main menu. This wouldnt be a problem if my game would ever actually save to a slot, which it does not do even though it says it is autosaving.
As a result I have played the first 15 mins of the game roughly 5 or 6 times before giving up completely, especially since you can not skip cut scenes.
With all due respect this "support" is laughable. I understand that you must go through everything to troubleshoot but I have to ask how in the world would the game locking up on every death screen relate to profiles? Also, what about his post would suggest that he was playing on a different xbox than what he purchased it on or playing under a different profile?
In another thread a Mod suggest checking to make sure the xbox is not in demo mode. I am sorry but this seems like like troubleshooting and more like complete shots in the dark.
First off MS licensing policy grants 1 Console license to the console that downloads the game and 1 Profile license to the purchasing profile.
I have multiple consoles, one for me and one for the rest of the family. I buy on the family console (for them) and play on mine (for me). In this case I was playing on mine using the purchasing profile. This is how I've played Walking Dead 1 and The Wolf Among Us.
Now I had no problems at all with Walking Dead but 1 but I will say that TWAU was a little glitchy with it's saves. Sometimes it wouldn't bother prompting for a save location either but in most cases it worked fine. I've restarted Walking Dead 2 a dozen times now and not once has it asked for a save location.
I'll try it on the family console tonight (if I can kick them off it) and see if it works okay on there but this is schoolboy stuff getting your basic licenses and save files working, really quite a poor show.
Oh, and NO, "just play it on the other console" is not an acceptable solution. Right now I am considering requesting a refund from MS and seriously considering whether it's safe to purchase the remaining Wolf episodes as these issues seem to be getting worse with each game.

I having the same issue without the black screen. I had to quit to leave and go do something when i came back all my save files in Season 2 were empty and i had to start all over again.

I tried to do a save without importing and waited till i got the logo saying it was saving then i quit the game after that and still no save file created there all still empty. im just not going to play till its fixed
I agree with you, I have been browsing these boards since I ran into this problem yesterday and the "support" that I am reading is very condescending to me with all due respect to TellTale Mike, as I understand you have to start at square one into order to properly troubleshoot.
But the suggestions that I have seen around this board are just laughable. I have seen it asked to check if the xbox is in demo mode. Why on earth would the xbox be in demo mode just for 1 game? I have seen it asked to check if the hard drive is full. This would be a legit question but not only is the save file so small that I highly doubt this would be the answer to the majority of problem but wouldnt a situation like that just yield an error that says, "HDD full would you like to pick a different one or play without saving?" like every other video game in recent history.
Like your situation, I do not believe the game is prompting an actually save file from the xbox, I am selecting a save slot from the main menu but as you mentioned the screen that usually comes up from the xbox itself for a file location never appears.
Question for you, are you importing a save from the previous games? I am importing my data from both all of season 1 and the DLC, I wonder if just starting the game fresh will allow it to save.
And i dont think it should matter what console you are on as long its the profile you bought it with.... I have never had any problems with any other game and purchased items on different consoles. But i think this needs to be address quickly. If not ill have to go with your last statement about going to MS i might do that to on this. Loved the games but this is unacceptable. Why play a game that wont remember your save/choices, on a game that changes depend on your choices.
So I just got done playing through the entire episode from start to finish. At the end of the episode when it usually shows your choices compared to others, it was blank. Surprise, surprise didnt once through out the entire time.
I am glad I got the see what the episode looks like, I guess all I can do now is wait for a fix and in the future and then replay it again.
Both, still didn't work.
Initially my old save was on the Cloud Saves it found that fine and started, I tried moving it to the HDD and importing from there and it also found it but on neither occasion did it prompt for my save location or actually save.

Still a pain though. As I alluded to, things like this are barely acceptable for your first game early in a new generation but for a company this experienced it's just poor ... at least they can still spin a good yarn, one day I hope to be able to experience it :-)

I apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please clarify if you are playing on the same console that you purchased the game on? Also, are you playing offline or online?

to answer your questions yes everything is on the hard drive and im on the console that i bought the game on, i am online and it can see my old save from season 1 without a problem. just that it wont create a season 2 save file even though it says its saving.
Did you download the trial before buying the episode?
I downloaded the trial, then the full version.
I just downloaded the full episode no trial. Just straight buy.
Having the same problem as well. Played through the entire episode and when it came to the decisions screen, it was blank which I thought was strange. Then going back to the main menu, I saw that the My Choices section was still locked and that I didn't have a save file.
My Xbox tells me I have the full game, I got all the achievements I should've, and it even read my Season 1 save, but no matter what I do, I am not allowed to save at all in Season 2.
Could we get an update please? It would be nice to be able to properly play the game we've paid for, especially as you're planning on selling us another 4 parts for it!

For all users still encountering this issue, if you can answer a few questions, it will help me in finding a solution for you. Did you all download the trial first, and then upgrade? Or did you just purchase and play? When you started the game for the first time, and chose to upgrade, did you see the pop up 'Unlock Episode 1' at all on the main menu? Were any of you not prompted to choose a storage device? Lastly, were you connected to the internet/asked to choose which account you wanted to use?
I know some of you have already answered, but any more info can be helpful/useful for me to start narrowing down what is happening to you guys. And again, apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
Also, a few more questions for clarity. Are you signed into your accounts before starting the game? If not, you may not be being asked to choose a storage device. Also how are you starting the game? From My Games, Downloads, or the Recent Menu?

If you aren't asked to pick a storage device at the beginning, please try exiting the game, signing off and on to your account and restarting the game. Also, another helpful piece of information would be to know what type of console system you have? 4GB console, 60GB console, or more? When I go over to play the game in the My Games section, the games icon on the bottom right shows up as a trial. I bought the full game though.
If it is showing up as a trial version, when you start the game, are you seeing a pop up to 'Unlock Episode 1' at the main menu? Did you download the trial first, then purchase the game? Thank you for the information, as we are attempting to isolate the issue.
When I start up the game it acts as the full game so...no, it doesn't tell me to Unlock episode 1, which is weird that it shows up as a trial on the dashboard. I never purchased the trial.
250GB Slim, cloud saves enabled. USB drive optional. I have too much on cloud saves to mess about disabling them but USB in/out doesn't make a difference.
I've also tried restarting, logging in and out, reinstalling and delete/clear cache/reinstall with no joy.
As mentioned previously I have two consoles though. This is happening on my console which isn't the one I purchased it on.
It was bought on the shared family console. I've had a chance to try it on there and it does seem to work okay. They are identical machines, both 250GB slims, both with cloud saves.
I would recommend that you try moving your saves to your hard drive, and disable cloud saving, and see if that fixes the issue. We have also found that some customers that bought it on one unit, and are playing it on another are running into this problem. I suggest that you play on the Xbox unit that it was purchased on, and play it there while we are looking into the issue. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you guys.

Count me in for having the problem. I have all of the achievements except for the last one from an hour and change worth of play. I went to finish this morning and I have no game save.

I am playing on arcade system with the 256 mb onboard storage. I have a 320gb hard drive and cloud storage as my 3 storage devices.
My season 1 / 400 days save is in the cloud and it was found when I started my new game.
I played this on my second xbox 360. The game was purchased on my main 360 on my account. I redownloaded it on the second 360 from my account.
I was going to buy the season pass but will hold off until this is fixed. I can't count on playing on a single 360, especially since that TV has a 360, PS3, Xbone and PS4 on it.
ys i also have this problem i dont even gt the option to see my cloud saves or usb saves and it once said it was a trial but i could play the full game BUT i coudnt save....this is truely unfair on how i got a game i cant play.
Im having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM as all of you! This is ridiculous I beat episode 1 then i wanted to do a second playthrough right away but i come to find out that i dont even have a save file. This is very frustrating. Both season 1 and 2 are on the same hard drive not on the cloud and season 2 was a straight buy. This needs to get fixed before wolf among us ep. 2 comes out.
