If you are using cloud saves, please Disable cloud saves, and see if that corrects the issue. (To disable cloud saves on Xbox, once on the Dashboard, go all the way to the right, click on System Settings, then go to Storage, then you can scroll down and click A on Cloud Storage. In that menu you have the option to enable/disable cloud saving.)

If you are not using cloud saves, please try and use the same console that you purchased it on, and see if that solves the issue. We are currently looking into what is causing this issue, I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Any news on this problem?
I purchased the game on my spare xbox which I keep at my parents place, thinking that this will be a good way to kill time while I'm home for Christmas. When I started the game i asked for the old save game from season one, so I decided to wait to play until I get back to my own place where I have the xbox with the saves from s01. And like the others I now have problems getting the xbox to store the save games for s02 even if it says everything is ok.
Would be great with a fix so I don't have to wait until the next time I'm visiting my parents to play the game!

We are currently still looking into this issue, and the only workaround at this time is to play the game on the original console that you bought the game on. It is a known issue that we are working on, and I will update this thread when we know more.

  • Hi all,

I've been having the not so rare 'game does not save' problem. After reading unsuccessful posts by support guys I went on to investigate by myself and found a possible cause and solution.

First analysis of the problem: it seems that the game at times might think you have a demo not a full version even if you never downloaded the trial. How I came to this conclusion was pulling ETH cord from my Xbox (second one, not the one used to purchase the game originally) and logging in. Second step launched the game and to my not so big surprise I was offered a choice to Unlock Episode 1. Weird considering purchasing full game from start and never bothering with the trial.

After this I did click Unlock Ep. 1 and was offered a choice to purchase it, which didn't succeed as I was offline. Next step plugged in ETH cable, waited few seconds just to make sure Xbox gets the IP, DNS and all other cool network stuff. Then pressed Xbox Home button (the middle one with controller numbers) and clicked Connect to Live, then quit the game and relaunched it.

Behold, I was offered save device and the game started saving progress and ... the choices from Season One were imported properly.

I hope this helps everyone with the problem.

P.S. If you're on WiFi the easiest way to proceed is to reboot the router and immediately load the game, this should sign you off Live and allow to reset game state from 'vitural trial' into full game.

  • Thanks for this I can confirm that if you start the game off line then connect to Xbox live while the game is on it then asks for a storage device. :D

Glad I can actually play something I paid for. From now on I'll not buy any season passes until I know the game works (which you just expect).

    Thanks again Macpiciu.

Please try the workaround that some others have used on the second page of this thread and see if it also works for you. If it does not, please note that we are aware of the issue and that we are currently looking into the cause of why it is happening, and how to fix it. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this as we look further into the issue.

  • Does not look like Telltale prioritize this issue as very high :( Too bad, when I have always regarded them very highly.
I was able to get the game to save by following macpiciu's solution. But for me it didn't work starting up the game in offline mode.
I had to sign in as a local user on the xbox, and after that sign in with my xbox live profile.

  • Thanks for putting me on the track of the solution for me macpiciu :) Makes me a bit worried that Telltale don't respond og give any update on a known issue, so i neither will but anything more before I know it works on my xbox.
Guess won't stop me from buying the next episode of the wolf among us in february though all the problems :S

Any update? I'm not going to license transfer cause then my brother won't have access to all my content. This episode and the wolf among have this same save problem. And thanks macpiciu and Fredda for the solution.

If you are following @macpiciu method, it sounds like you would reset your router, and then launch the game while logged off of your live account. Then while in game, the router will reconnect. Please note that while this workaround works for some, it may not work for everyone, and that we are still looking into the issue and for a resolution sometime soon. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused while we look further into it.

  • I really hope this is fixed before the episode 2 is out. I'm not going to try the alternate method because I shouldn't have to do things to get something to work that should have worked from the start, especially something that involves saving your progress.

  • so your telling me for people who hadent got the unlock trial issue and just cant save i general issue and it is not still fixed? and it allmost been 4 months? and your trusting me to trust u and buy season 2 episode 2? thats not something that i can trust lighty i need this issue resolved or some time of thing in return if this is not fixed.

  • Just to add to the lovely work around here, I wasn't able to get results with the offline online process. However trying to simulate the effect I logged on to a local profile while online. I got the demo version like usual. From the main menu I simply switched profiles from the local to my live. The game reset automatically when I did this and that finally worked for me. Just in case you out there tried the other work around like me and couldn't get it to work.

  • Any news on this issye? I ask cos as much as I love your games this combined with the wolf among us season pass issue ( which I'm also a victim of) is seriously stretching my patience. Won't go into too many details but im playing it on a second console. We're all pretty sure that's the issue. Thing is Xbox allows me to so this is something you guys need to fix. It's getting well on for time here....

  • TelltaleMikeTelltaleMike Former Telltale Staff

If you are experiencing this issue, you may need to transfer the license to your new console. To do this please follow the steps in this thread on how to transfer licenses to a new console:

    http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/27/t/46093.aspx#newconsoles

Please make sure to read the steps under the 'License Transfers - New Consoles' section.

Please also make sure that you are playing the full game, and you are not playing the game in demo/trial mode. You can do this by going to the Xbox Marketplace and going to the game's page and make sure that you are downloading the full game and not the demo/trial version.

  • i understand this optiuon is available to me but put simply Im refusing to do this simply because microsofts policy allows any downloaded content to be available on both one console and one profile independent of each other. Why is it every other product Ive purchased from xbox live manages to allow me to do this except this particular one? Even season 1 of wal;king dead allowed me to do this with no issue! p;lease update me as to an actual solution to this problem as the one provided is merely a workaround to a fault on the end of TTG

I apologize for the inconvenience, we have implemented a patch to PS3 versions, and a Title Update to 360 versions that should fix this issue. Please make sure you are logged onto an XBox Live enabled account, and launch the game while connected to the internet, and you should receive the update to resolve this issue. Then you should be able to sign on the other console and follow the same steps, and be able to play on the other console.
