The human immune system has evolved considerably, and in a country like the US it would take more than a few years for things like water sou… morerces to degrade to the point that they'd make you sick. Most people who get sick from water typically become ill because of people bathing and using the toilet in the water, or because of toxic materials leaking into the water source. Getting a cut can be pretty dangerous, but medicine still exists. It's just rare. Most people have basic first aid knowledge and know how to to deal with it, something simple cavemen didn't. Honestly, the biggest danger in TWD has always been other people. Especially in the games. By 400 Days and Season 2 people have pretty much coped with the Walkers and established ways for avoiding or separating them from their groups.
St. Johns had a huge farm that fell under because Lee sabotaged their generator. Crawford failed because one woman took a gun and sought revenge for bei… [view original content]
It isn't the same as The last of Us, though. Everyone in TWD is already infected. You die, you become a risk. Every large community would have to closely monitor the sick, elderly and injured. The kind of adaptions you'd have to make to thrive would rob you of most of your humanity. The best people have managed to do is to survive. I'd take The Last of Us' infection over TWD's any day.
Doctors can teach what they know to other people.
I think eventually people will just have to deal with it. Maybe it will be like the last of us. There were still communities and such around, just life was different.
I've thought about this too. Unless Pharmacies and grocery stores magically re-stock small portions of supplies, then eventually you'll have no chance. Unless, of course, you can make the stuff yourselves. I mean, someone had to make it with Earth's resources before the outbreak right?
Realistically, they could find a farm with a well, and survive for five, maybe ten years, since Luke and Nick were farmhands, they'd have some sort of knowledge. After this, the zombies, like Kirkman himself said, "keep rotting." So by this time, all the zombies will be nothing but bones.

Adapting to illness is what humanity has endured for since the first settlements were being setup in Konya, Turkey, 7500 BCE. They have clambered over the Bubonic Plague, The Moscow Plague (1770), The Great Plague of Milan (1629), The American Plagues (1500s), The Third Pandemic (1855, China), and the strong aren't the ones that survive, it's the smart and those who can adapt that will survive. And Clementine is smart.
How do you adapt to illnesses? I guess it'll get to a point where the people with better genes and better immune systems will survive.
Also, viruses and bacteria are evolving all the time.
Well 1st off, let me just state, the only reason Herschel died was because of the Governor.
If it hadn't been for him, Herschel would proba… morebly still be alive.
2nd.
It's not so much how long you live, but how you've lived.
If one can survive, even if it isn't for long, and still keep there humanity, than that's all that's really important.
Don't forget that there are still medical books around. As long as they don't find quackery ones a survivor could become a self-taught doctor. And there are plenty of cadavers around for practicing surgery.

Yeah, I think the apocalypse is really just a larger Black Death. In the 1300's the plague almost wiped out Europe, but the population grew again, so why can't the same thing happen now?

i think what is obvious in the TWD universe, at least for me, is that it is just a matter of time for everyone to die. I mean there is nothing left and sooner or later people may become sick, chronic conditions etc. Then there is the food shortage issue, and the rampant barbarism of it all - it is social Darwinism in its purest form - just that there is no society so it is just a purely predatory society. Chaos, rivalry, the worst kind of human beings. In fact, human kind is depicted as a race of genocidal sociopaths whose murder lust is merely lurking underneath the thin veneer of civilization, only too eager to erupt at the slightest sign of societal instability. Take away man's creature comforts and the guy who used to teach anthropology at the university will now be the leader of a sad little kingdom marred by the apocalypse, filled with either those willing to murder another man for a loaf of bread or the few sheep who follow them. So I dont really think anyone can survive there. Even Clementine or other kids. I mean ever seen Lord of the Flies?

Exactly. So we can grow more crops and make more pizza and brigadeiro so in turn we can have more sacrifices.
"The dead always win."
Oh, okay. There's a fun way to spend our lives c:
"The dead don't kill their own, it's the living you got a worry about"

"We reason with him."
"With the bloody end of an axe-handle maybe!"
"You have my bow."

no antibiotics, that's for sure.
but medically feasible herbs? as long as you know which one to take.
6000...? What History were you taking, Viva-La-Lee?

the hunters probably would have got Hershel instead of Dale so he would still be dead
It's called creationism and it's completely correct!

Slightly disturbing, but excellent point, though.
Seeing as that's what people did centuries ago, then sure.

You gotta do what you gotta do.
Not long if Clem don't spank Nick!
ITS CALLED GOOD PARENTING!!!!
I respect you so much more now..
