Why do some on here think Hubs = character development

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
Wolf among us doesn't have many hubs and its done a great job at developing its characters and its world

So blaming the lack of hub areas for season 2 not having a lot of character development doesn't make much sense

I don't really think their even is developement in twau the characters are already fully developed, and some characters you barely know if you havent read the comics like flycatcher or jack

Also in season 1 we got to know the characters alot better due to hubs and their deaths affected us a lot, in season 2 some people we barely know so they didn't affect us as much like carlos
  • That's because TWAU is a murder mystery with investigation, interrogation and so on. When all there is running away from walkers/humans, you need to slow down at times and talk to some peoples.
  • I feel you on that BUT I am a hub fan myself, having time to stop and smell the corpses like season 1 would be cool. Also twau has that log of character profiles you can read on every char you encounter so that helps in regards to that game specifically. I just enjoyed going through all the dialogue options and talking with everyone personally.
  • It's because a main purpose of Hub worlds, especially in TWD, is to give us a chance to speak to the other characters. It gives us a chance to learn what they think of the current situation, and get into their personal history. If we didn't have the expansive hubs in S1, we'd never know that Omid enjoyed Southern United State History, or that Clem put a bug on Duck's pillow. We'd have never gotten the chance to reveal Lee's past to the other characters, or help Carley fix the radio to learn more about fact that she can't even put batteries in properly, which would get mentioned time and time again afterwards in the following episodes.

The most developed character we've got from Season 2 is Nick. If you went with Pete, he'd confess to having to kill his mother in a Hub area. It was completely optional in this case, but Telltale thought it was important enough to include regardless.
  • Holly got a ton of character development in the first 3 episodes and she is not even in the comics

gren went from a one note villain in episode 1 to a likable jerk who really does cares about holly in 3 episodes

snow probably had the biggest transformation goring from the nice secretary to the ice queen boss of fabletown by episode 3
