Is Luke just weak eye candy??? :-/

*Please note: I like Luke!*
Luke comes across as an unreal character in my opinion though. Everything thing he does is morally 'good'. He makes people that do 'real' stuff look like bad guys. Luke is like this dreamy character that thinks everything can be peace and happiness in a zombie apocalypse. In reality the world they live in is absolutely crazy and people that lose their shit or are mean or lash out or do things you question just come across as more real to me. Luke has not had anything to break him, and it just makes him seem like a bit of a delusional character. Luke's ability to 'move on' makes him a very... "stale" character if you will. Y'know you just feel nothing for him? Every time something goes wrong, Luke is never there. Luke doesn't make any mistakes. Even though it was his idea for the radio, Kenny takes the beating. I just feel like Luke is a weak character that is merely liked because he is eye candy. :-/ Hopefully in episode 4 or 5 he will develop better or do something more worthy/real. Personally, I prefer Nick more than Luke currently! I'd also like to add that yes, Luke does come back for them, but I feel it's just a weak attempt to make it appear as if he cares however, he only makes matters worse - no offense - just the radio situation was wack. Perhaps not possible, but if Luke had taken the beating for the radio, I would of had much more respect for him. Kenny (WHO SAID NO TO THE RADIO) already had my respect, and now he has it a lot more. Luke just gets away with everything, y'know? I dunno peeps. The conclusion, the point, is just - he is making other's unjustly look bad through his seemingly 'fake' good morals. I hope this doesn't make me sound like a 'bad' guy or a 'sick' person. I will admit, in a zombie apocalypse I think I'd be capable of doing what Kenny did to Carver. I'd just snap, y'know?

  • Eye candy? Yes. Weak? No.
  • Luke is the butter I want on my pancakes.
  • I'd say that Luke would be more interesting if they took him and put him in situations he can't avoid or move past. Whenever trouble arises he usually is gone and relatively unscathed. If he didn't get the chance to out run his problems but instead had to face them, we'd get a different side of his character.

Who knows, maybe when Kenny says "Where the fuck is Luke?", Luke finally gets to his 'breaking point' and disappears because of that or another ' My Knight in Shining Unscathed Armor' scenario. I do like Luke and believe he isn't weak but compared to the rest of the group they've all had shit happen to them one way or another; although we still don't know much about his past, even with the assumption of the loss of his family from the apocalypse. I hope he becomes more prominent in the next episode and possibly see him more involved with the group.
  • You got it in that eye candy
  • i dont know why people like Luke so much .I was more interested in Nick than him in episode 1.

  • Your banned again?why!?!?!?

Honestly? And this is not just because I love Luke's character but I do find him to be realistic. Situations in a ZA would eventually call for it but how many of us would not hesitate to kill a human being? Or someone that you cared about and was turned into a walker? Like, really. If you really think about it. We're not all going to be comfortable with chopping heads off and taking lives. It's not impossible that Luke would put off killing humans.

However, Luke's not weak. He's very capable of taking care of himself and is strong enough emotionally/mentally to not jump to rash conclusions and into plans that aren't thought out well enough. Who knows, maybe part of his future character development is him having to kill somebody and not being able to avoid it. Maybe it's him having to choose between his morals and survival. I also don't think "he's never there" is much of an argument if you think about it. He went missing once and when he did, he traveled for three days without sleep and food in order to return to his group. We don't know the context of why Kenny's looking for him in episode four. Luke could show up moments after that in the episode, or maybe the group got split up after facing the horde and can't find each other.

Luke's a genuine character who legitimately cares about his friends. What would he get out of pretending to care for them? He could have run off ages ago and left them to fend for themselves but he hasn't. Even Nick said that he's known him for twenty years and he isn't to be considered a flake.

  • I've seen several mentions about "where is Luke?" and I can agree that he's not been around when thing's got rough, but I can also see "strategic relocation" as a viable survival tactic.
Carver's group came in with AK's and could have easily just taken Rebecca and slaughtered everyone else and taken the last of the peaches and beans. Luke would have been the only survivor.
I'm not sure what Telltale intends to do with Luke but I do hope to get to know him better or enjoy his gruesome death!

  • Eye candy? Hell yes.
Weak? No, it's called holding on to that humane hope he still holds and thinks is there.
    And yes, I love Luke.
