Please, no more Clementine as a playable character.
What would be best would be warring factions set some 20 years into the future, the s… moreituation similar to the one in the comics between the Saviours and the Survivors - and Clementine is on the opposing side. It could be a great exploration of morality, the us VS them mentality and how grudges can cloud judgements. Also the topic that not everyone who has a different system is evil.
Clementine can be from a nomadic group, and the player character can be from the settler group.
I love playing as Clementine, although I am worried that one day, they'll do something that ruins her for me. Like forcing her to do something I can't control and is completely opposite of what either I or the kind of person I'm playing her as would do.
Also, and I know that this is an unpopular opinion, I'd love to give Sarah a whirl as player character. A Sarah that has grown up a bit and learned how to deal with her anxiety in a moderately healthy manner.
And my ideal outcome? Clem AND Sarah. Maybe like with Tales of the Borderlands, where we also have multiple player characters. Really, I just love the idea of Clementine helping Sarah grow tough and strong, while Sarah keeps Clem from becoming a cynical hard-ass. We already saw a bit of that when Clem taught Sarah how to handle a gun or when she took her under her wing during their time at Carver's camp. They play off each other well, I think, and present two very opposing sides.
Clementine as the little badass who won't take no shit from anyone (but has been shown to potentially become cold and ruthless due to her previous experiences) and Sarah as the scared, sheltered girl who never got the opportunity to fend for herself (but also retains a sense of innocence through it all that acts as a counterforce to Clementine's own rational and level-headed worldview).
Their interactions so far have been a good example of that. Sarah immediatly trusting Clem and asking her to be her BFF, with Clem being rather hesitant and put-off by it, for example. Sarah has been brought up with an entirely different mindset than Clementine (since the apocalypse anyway) and that intrigues me, especially with how the last episode ended.
I'm biased, of course, since I consistently played Clementine as very protective and supportive of Sarah. Plus, unlike most other people, I actually like the defensless little chicken. Lee taught Clem to be strong, now it's her turn to take someone under her wing.
Really, I just want to see them grow into this badass pair of best friends who totally OWN this frickin' apocalypse, smashing zombies left and right. (And I will keep this headcanon until Telltale Games rips it from my cold, dead hands. Or until they kill off one - or both - of them, whichever comes first.)
And god, would I love to see people flip their shit if this were to happen. Two player characters and they're BOTH young, female and non-white. It'd be glorious.
Other than that...I think Molly would be an interesting player character. She's capable and likable, and there's definitely potential for a great story there.
If you want me to be realistic, however, I believe that, if they make a 3rd season with someone else as the player character, Luke seems like a good bet. Most fans like him and for now it looks like he may survive this thing. (His chances are certainly better than Sarah's.) In any case, I think it would be a male character, to switch things up again.
