Maybe its just me but i love making polls for The Walking Dead, the purpose of this threads is to make fun or serious polls about The Walking Dead and put the link in the comments. There was no pointless main death before this episode.

well first off her death wasn't pointless it was to prove she couldn't cease to function.
And Walter, Omid, The guy by the river, Chuck, Ben all had deaths that were equally "pointless"
Before "the raccoon" you should put "Raccoon noises" - Raccoon, haha!
She hadn't even had a day to recover. She was recovering, as she didn't want to die after falling from the deck, it was just shitty luck that killed her off at that point. We didn't get to see her truly move past it and continue to be strong. Clementine's words to her in the trailer park ended up just being wasted.
Walter died after either forgiving his lover's murderer or getting revenge by letting him die.
Omid I hadn't thought of. Come to think of it I can't even think of what Omid's arc is meant to be. It doesn't feel like his life was pointless, since he already had Christa... I guess there was just no point in him and Christa ever coming across Lee's group. I mean yeah they took care of Clem temporarily while she was completely joyless with them but what did they actually get out of it? They didn't ever seem to grow from it. Yeah Omid's a strange case. There wasn't much to him other than just loving and having Christa, which he did to the end. So while it wasn't really an arc for his character, he had some kind of out of place meaning. Sorry I went on a tangent here.
The guy by the river? You mean the bandit who attacked Christa? I said main deaths. Not sub-tertiary character deaths.
Chuck prompted Lee to teach Clem how to survive days/hours before his death and when he did die, went out protecting Clementine.
Ben's death in episode 4 served no purpose other than to satisfy those who thought he should die. His death in episode 5, however, made Kenny move past his grudge and help somebody in need, even if that somebody accidentally got his precious family killed.

Okay i have two other reasons for Sarah's death. So it wasn't 'pointless'
1) To show Clementine she is utterly helpless in this world no matter what she does her friends will die, to make the player feel like the entire group is falling apart.
2) That only the strongest survive, Sarah was not fit to live in this world no matter how much she tried.
