The Only Way I Can See Telltale Making Us Cry in S2 Ep5
This literally just popped into my head. So what if at the beginning you had to choose between Luke or Kenny and at the very end whoever you chose will die. So if you're a die-hard Kenny fan or a die-hard Luke fan, you'll be shedding tears. This caters to most people and would be smart for Telltale to do. The only other thing I could see happening is if Christa comes back and then immediately dies. But there is a lot of people who could care less about Kenny and Luke and are #TeamBikeForLife. Personally I think I would cry at Mike's death because I'm a hardcore Team Bike supporter. Mike will probably be like Kenny and be the death I cry at that's not even supposed to be the saddest one yet. What do you guys think? How do you think Telltale can make you cry?
Comments
I'm not bashing telltale or anything, but i honestly can't see a way they could make me cry. I never cry at video games except when Sam died in episode 1.
Honestly no current characters death would make me cry because I haven't gotten emotionally invested in any of them. Got to the point where after Episode 4 I don't even like any of them anymore. Only way I'd "cry" is if there was something where Clementine died and it showed her joining her parents and Lee in heaven type of deal outside of that there isn't anything.
Kenny or Luke WILL NOT be determinant this episode.. Otherwise we know they will just die off in Episode 3.. One will either live.. Or one will die.. or they may both Live or both die... The choice between wont be life or death maybe just similar to the table choice.. I think it will be who we help if they get into a fist fight.
Episode 3...? wat
Me: you are so cute and friendly just like my dog!
LATER...
OOH WHY!
I had to turn off the tv and cry in the corner of my room for a few hours.
If I was the writer and I had to make something Luke and Kenny decission in EP5 ending
Choice Luke he is your friend S3
Choice Kenny he is your friend in S3
Just some idea
I felt like I killed my own dog!
What if the raccoon and her baby's get eaten or get killed? I don't think TT will go so far but I'm gonna cry.
PS I liked the dog more then everybody in the game combined. I have some problems saying that about Clem but that poor animal it took me days
Only if something happened to Clementine.
Sadly, Telltale will probably not do something like this, too much story branching for them.
Emotional stuff was for Season 1. Season 2 is more about survival.
Well I have a idea. No matter who you choice you still follow the same story but with another friend on your side. The interacting with people will change because of Luke or Kenny and the interacting the environment.
I actually don't see this happen but it is a funny idea
Now we're judging the quality of a game based on how much it makes us cry?
Sorry, guys, but human emotions don't work that way.
Agreed. Sad endings do not always make for good, well written endings. The same goes for happy.
Actually, my point was more about how we're arguing the ways Telltale could make us "cry" as if it's a freakin' IGN score. That just seems a little shallow to me.
It's not really that simple. Season One made people cry with good writing and emotional attachment to the characters. If Kenny or Luke just up and die, I won't shed a tear. A good death scene also hinges on other characters' reactions. Let's compare...
---> Nick: Both his deaths kind of just...happen. Nobody reacts strongly to it or really mentions it ever again. It was kind of sad to see him go down like that, but his death had no oomph behind it.
---> Alvin: He's another fairly minor character, but his Episode 3 death was very sad. Clementine's reaction is what made it such a tear jerker. She can practically beg him to come with her or ask if he can hold them off. No matter which option is chosen, she is clearly on the verge of tears. The way Alvin tells her to "take care of [his] girls." was really bittersweet and made me choke up a little bit.
tl;dr: If the other characters (and especially the protagonist) are really upset about a death, I probably will be too.
That always bugged me too, how the worth of the games are based on how many "feels" you get.
Ah, I should have separated my comments. I agreed with you and then added my own view on quality of games and their endings.
One answer to me KENNNNNNNNYYYYYYY
Apart from Clementine, all the characters that I cared about like Sarah, Nick, Rebecca and Sarita all died in the same Episode. I don't feel emotionally attached to Bonnie, Mike or Luke, I may spare a tear if Kenny meets his fate, but the only reason I would shed tears of joy is if someone makes a remarkable comeback or if something awesome happens like how Lee did his badass walk through the horde of Walkers.
I didn't cry at Grave of the fireflies. Telltale ain't got nothin' on me.
