Possible Evidence: Episode 5 is releasing soon?

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

(I already posted this discovery in the general thread on Episode 5's release date, but I think this is big enough to warrant a new discussion).

So, a user in that general thread posted a link to here, showing that Steam has apparently released the "Episode 5 Press Preview" just today. When I first saw this, after the initial hyper-excitement wore off, I felt a "meh" attitude, as that didn't seem too interesting or important in regards to the release date.

But then I clicked around on that page and found THIS page.

Now, you'll notice there (on the "Packages" section) that they have the release the Episode 4 Press Review there too. Now I can't claim to know what "Press Review" necessarily means here. However, notice that the release date for the Episode 4 Press Review was 27 days ago.

That would be July 16th 2014, less than a week before Amid The Ruins was released, and literally a day before it's release date was announced.

And the Episode 5 Press Review was released only today.

So really, doesn't this kind of imply that we may see Episode 5 sooner rather than a bit later?

Now again, this is circumstantial evidence. We can't know for sure that a Press Review necessarily correlates with when an episode will be released.

Personally, I think this could be good news, though I understand that it could turn out to be irrelevant in the future.

And in case this link is shut down or changed, a photo of the page as it is now can be found here.

What do you think? Again, I'm acknowledging here that this is all speculation based on an unproven (but evidenced) deduction.

  • Just curious but what was the wait time between Ep 4 and Ep 5 during Season 1? At this rate it would take a month for them to have completed and release EP 5 for this season. Is that even possibru?!

  • It's not going to be released soon... it's going to be released very soon. :)

  • Around Every Corner (S1E4) - Oct 10 2012
    No Time Left (S1E5) - Nov 20 2012 (so a month and 10 days)

I truly doubt that they actually don't START an episode's production until it's been released, I'm sure there's a lot of planning and stuff done in advance.

  • :D I see what you did there.

  • I've always been someone who jumps on the Hype Train a bit sooner than I probably should, but combine all this stuff with Telltale saying more news on the finale is coming up "very soon," I think it's feasible to say that the next episode (or, at the very least, a trailer for it) could come out very soon. Like, by-the-end-of-the-week soon. It's not probable, but it's feasible.

By the way, according to someone on Tumblr, the "press review" update occurs when the game is released to game journalists. They're earlier than the public releases so game journalists have time to write early reviews of the game and get everyone all hyped up for the new release.

No. Not because I don't want to believe it but more they provide no source (well reliable source) and honestly just looks like click bait to me.

I'm just curious if anyone knows of a Dev account on steam? Just so we can see their achievement times to suss out the length of the episode or just post a screenshot ;)

It isn't, anything that isn't officially stated by telltale first is not real, especially some dumb ass site called kdramastars lol

Apparently 'press review' means that they send it to news sites so they can write reviews for the game, (This was from some random person on tumblr so who knows if that is actually what it means but if it is true then the next episode may come very soon.)

Does Press Preview mean the same as Press Review though? They're generally different things...
Still, what you point out are good points!

Has there been any info on the Episode going through classification?

Generally, depending on the game (length, etc), game embargoes on the press are between 72 and 24 hours (not set in stone, of course) before reviews can be posted. I think this "Preview" might not be what we want it to be. I'm hopeful though!

  • I think they're the same; the press preview update was released, what, 5 days before the public release? I think they're interchangeable terms. I will admit I have nothing to back this up, it's just speculation. Either way, a lot of signs are pointing to something coming by the end of the month. (And even if it doesn't, it's fun to speculate)

  • I understand that it may be a coincidence in regards to my evidence, but Job Stauffer tweeted today that the S2Finale's tiny sneak peek is coming tomorrow.

  • Everyone's saying August 26th, that's my Birthday! :D
