Any of you have saved Doug in the first playthrough?

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

I know it's an old story, but I would like to know if I'm the only one who saved him in the first playthrough, and if not, you regret this choice?

Yes, I liked Doug, was personable and intelligent, but with Carley could "do" more things ...

What do you think? :)

  • i actually saved him just because he reminded me so much of myself, both in his looks and in his personally (I'm a chubby tech nerd to :)
so not saving him would be like not saving myself

  • I picked him, but it sorta wasn't my decision. I didn't realize that you had to select Carley's purse in order to save her, so I was force to pick Doug. I went back and replayed with the choices that I wanted. This is the only time I've ever replayed any episode though, I even only played all of Season 2's episodes just once.

I didn't have anything against Doug, I went with Carley because she had a gun and knew how to use it.

  • I chose Carley first (Due to her being able and confident to use a gun), then on my second I picked Doug.

As much as I like Doug's intelligence, alarm system, etc., I'm glad I picked Carley. Because I then have the option of telling the group of Lee's past, which allows Kenny & Co. to trust Lee more when Lilly tells them. As well as Lee having a more closer relationship with Carley. However if one bad thing with choosing Carley, its that I feel the group is more distant and fight more. But that's just my opinion.

I chose Doug on my very first play through and was glad I did. One reason was just to be different from the majority of players as I knew they'd mostly pick Carley. However in spite of Carley being able to use a gun well, I felt Doug made the story more interesting since he was able to compensate in other unique ways such as his brilliant inventions like the bell wall and lasers which distract Andy St.John long enough for Lee to rescue Duck. Carley was basically more talkative during the narrative than Doug and was like the Stranger said "A pretty girl with a gun" Which was most likely why the majority chose her over Doug at least male players anyhow because they thought Lee was going to score with her later down the road as if this was Mass Effect or something.LOL I'm sure it was hilarious to see those players faces whom had those motives and intentions for Carley & Lee when Lilly ended up capping her out of rage (which was probably even more likely why many left Lilly behind on the road. I personally chose to keep Lilly with the group in my first play through also because I thought she'd make the story more interesting with the group after having lost her mind like that.)

  • i did doug was great never pissed off anyone a really good guy and i let lilly stay with the group i told lilly i would go with her but she drove away why did she i tryed to save her daddy

  • I didn't save him. However, if you were curious about how the stats came out when the Episode first released, I believe only 20% of players saved Doug. :P

Anybody with a better memory is free to correct me on this.

  • Yeah. I thought he's gonna be a huge help with all his technical skills. I enjoyed second playthrough with Carley more, though - it's my 'main' now.

  • I saved Doug in my first Playthrough. Liked him much more than i liked Carley in episode 1. :)

  • 30% of the players

  • I saved Doug in my first playthough, simply because I found him less annoying than Carley. Plus it was obvious he was going to be an asset to the group with his technical skills.
On the second, out of curiosity I went with Carley. Yes she knew how to use a gun, but that's not everything in the apocalypse.

The only thing I objected to was the fact you couldn't disclose your past to the group without rescuing Carley. So Kenny held that against you, when you had no choice but to keep quiet about it. That was the worst error in Season One I thought.

  • you can fix that a little bit if you tell kenny it's your parents store inside tha drug store

I saved him the second time around. He is far more interesting than Carley to be honest. She got boring after episode 1. Besides, I'd be Doug in an apocalypse.

  • I actually saved Doug in my first playthrough because Carley knew I was on my way to jail and I didn't want her to tell anyone else lol :P

Picked Doug on my first walkthrough and its the default walkthrough that went in the second series. I relate to Doug, he make me laugh when other bad things were happening. never regrated that I made that choice

I did another walkthrough with Carly that I didn't carried through to the other parts but just really hated her character. the only thing I like about that part was you got to tell everyone why Lee was in a police car at the start and that had interesting reactions to other characters.

  • I've done several playthroughs with both Doug and Carley and while I prefer Doug I still pick Carley most of the time.
Only reason is the darn scene in episode 3 where you need to defend the RV. I suck at that.

With Carley on the left, I only have to focus on the right side. Fewer death scenes for Lee.

  • If they hadn't added that scene where Carly goes with Lee to save Glenn, then I would've saved Doug.

  • Not my first playthrough, no, but I've done one where I saved him. He's a pretty cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything.

  • Guys...you're all gonna hate me.

I saved Doug, because I didn't trust Carley. I didn't trust her to keep things a secret...so I decided she needed to be silenced.

  • I admit I saved Carley in my first playthrough. I'm a Sucker for damsels in distress, but I like Doug too he was pretty awesome.
