Killer Lee´s Wife

Have you ever thought that Senator Lee did not kill him but killed his wife?

  • I always thought he killed them both

  • No. Lee killed the senator.

I think you mean "Have you ever thought that Lee didn't kill the senator but his own wife?"

And no, he killed the senator, and not his wife. When he said he hurt her he meant emotionally (plus I think they said she refused to come to the trial, or to look at this during the trial or something like that?)

  • Depending on the dialogue, Lee mentions in Episode 1 Season 1 that his ex-wife is somewhere, so she's alive. Sadly I can't remember exactly where, but she definitely wasn't murdered.

  • I thought he killed them both?

  • He said she was in Virginia

  • He says he killed the Senator and "hurt" his wife badly, the "hurt" part is ambiguous.

He could have beat her, or he could have meant that he hurt her emotionally.

  • Virginia? Really? If so she's close to our group in S2. Not incredibly close. But still.

  • Yeah, hearing him talk about how he 'fought' his wife over having a baby really made me reconsider how good a man he was. To not only be a murderer but a domestic abuser as well? It's one of my favorite monologues in the game due to Fennoy's performance - the regret is palpable, and it really does serve as a reminder that no matter how kind we've seen him, he's guilty of several crimes.

I prefer to think it meant that he simply argued with his wife, and the stress brought her to find another man. When Lee found out, his anger was not simply because he was being 'cheated on' but because he realized he was partly at fault for ruining his marriage.

  • Yeah, if she's still alive. Chances are slim, but I guess it's possible.

He also says something about wanting to have kids for the longest time, but his wife always refused him.

If I'm not mistaken, they had an argument the night before he cheated on her, and it was over starting a family. She travelled a lot for business and he wanted her to settle down, but she refused.

  • "The night before she cheated on him," you mean. Unless there's something else we don't know about! :P

It's funny how the wife herself hadn't been talked about at all until a determinant conversation with the Stranger. I've seen a lot of the fandom demonize her as some evil bitch who cheated on a kind, innocent man, when canon provides evidence of a more nuanced portrayal. They spent long periods of time apart, argued constantly, and the marriage just wasn't working out.
