We discovered new things about him, he was starting to be a really cool guy, yet He died such horrible way. Seriously guys it's even more sad when you realize that he died on his own birthday. And what's even more traumatizing - he'll stay in that water forever, floating in the cold and dark abyss, without any proper burial.
Fucking Bonnie should listen to him.

but that's always the case in walking dead. You get closer to a character then he/she dies. There's no happy endings in these games.
