Bravo, Telltale! (Episode 5 thoughts and spoilers)
I absolutely loved this episode!
I want to just go through my thought process that I had, and why I was so satisfied with the episode.
So in my playthrough I was a huge Kenny fan. I was always on his side (a lot of people on here seem to hate Kenny; I could see why, but could you really betray someone you've known for a long time for people you've known for about a week?). After Sarita died in episode 4 I was just preparing myself for his death, especially after all the "Kenny's losing it", "Kenny's a monster", and "Kenny's going to snap" comments that the group had. I thought the other members of the group were okay, but if it came down to it, I wasn't going to let them separate me from Kenny.
Then we get to episode 5 (who else was surprised that no one died in the beginning shootout!?). After some moments of peace in the beginning, the group goes back to "Kenny's crazy". To me it seemed like everyone (except Luke surprisingly; R.I.P. Luke and the rest of the cabin group) was starting to hold a grudge against Kenny, and eventually me for siding with Kenny. I felt like me and Kenny were closer because of this, and I wasn't going to let a band of misfits separate us.
Then Arvo goes and shoots Clementine. And I was FURIOUS at Bonnie and Mike for not caring at all that he just shot a kid. Everyone (Mike, Bonnie, Jane, Arvo) spent all this time saying Kenny was a monster just like Carver, but after all the things they did to try and get rid of me and Kenny, they only proved THEY were the monsters, not him. (by the way did Kenny and Jane just shoot Bonnie, Mike, and Arvo or what?). I thought our playable character was once again dead, but luckily I was wrong!
Anyway, once I woke up in the truck with Kenny and Jane I thought the action was done and over with. Boy was I wrong. The climatic ending of Season 2 was one of the most intense and best endings I've seen in a long time. The whole Jane vs. Kenny fight was amazing. I was rooting for Kenny from the get-go because :
1.I was loyal to Kenny
2.Jane left the baby for dead in a snowstorm. A SNOWSTORM. Who does that? And why does she want us to think she killed a baby?
When she was finally dead I felt relieved (but also surprised because you could shoot Kenny; who would do that?!). When we got to Wellington and the decision came to stay there or go with Kenny, I decided to stay there. I was loyal to Kenny and I wanted to fulfill his wish of keeping the baby and me safe. It was hard, but I think I got the best ending I could ask for.
So Episode 5 gets a 9.4/10 from me. Not perfect because everyone seemed to flip-flop on their opinions, but whatever. Sorry if things didn't quite flow together, but I'm all excited and all that!
TL;DR Kenny fan was happy they could fulfill Kenny's wishes.
Comments
At least Kenny won't be returning for season 3.
Automatic 9/10 from me.
