The emotional effect this game has had on me. (Spoilers for everything)

When I first played the walking dead, a year ago, I had no idea what I was getting into. I had no idea that it would be one of the best games I ever played. The emotional scenes in this game had the biggest effect on me, because they were so well executed. The writing of the first season especially was amazing. So amazing in fact, that I was able to play it several times without getting bored with the characters, the story, and the relationships between said characters. The way the writer (Gary Whitta at the time, I think) did the relationship between Lee and Clementine was goddamn amazing. I enjoyed The Walking Dead more than I enjoyed The Last of Us.

We all have seen the ending to S1 of The Walking Dead Game, and we all know it was brilliantly executed, and was the biggest tearjerker in any video game, ever. The ending was terribly sad. The ending was so brilliantly sad, that I burst into tears when the flashback happened in the last episode of season 2. I was just reminded of all of the emotions I went through playing the first season, as I am sure many people were. The writing is so amazing it made US flash back, and it made US go through the same feelings we did. We all miss Lee, dearly, and seeing him again with little to no warning is like being stabbed in the gut The Blade of Feels (Somebody create a petition to add this as a Legendary to WOW). The ending of the 2nd season was amazing as well, all five of them of them were. There were happy endings, and sad endings, and I personally think Clementine's tale has come to an amazing end. At the same time though... I really hope it hasn't. Every time I see a picture of Clem, I feel this sad little feeling in my gut, and it is bothering the shit out of me. I want to know more. I want to know what happens to Clementine, and I want to make sure she is okay. So far though, she is, and that makes me happy. Alt text

  • Same here. TLOU and TWD had alot of emotional impact on me. Both games got me connected to the characters so heavily.

  • You chose the good ending. This thread is canoning out of control.

  • Same as me, this guy in my school cricket team brought his phone to cricket when he specifically wasn't allowed to. He showed me TWD and i bought the first episode. I unfortunately wasn't used to gore so i checked what happened through from episode 3 to 5 which spoiled it for me but i had to keep reading because it was so intriguing. I massively regret that cos i knew Lee would die but the TWD is so damn amazing and emotional (In a good way).

  • It is amazing. This is one of the finest pieces of interactive narratives out there, and I advocate every gamer out there to experience it. This has Titanic levels of feels, and it's great that I'm not the only one that appreciates Telltale's masterpiece of a game adaptation.

As for Clem, I'm glad to know she's safe. I'm content with not seeing her anymore, because I know she's alive and well in Wellington.

A lot of people died so she could reach this point. Now, she is alive, and she is safe. Safe from bandits and walkers and everything else the ruined world has to haunt her with. She is alone in a community of good people, but it will get better in time. She'll warm up to them, and maybe, just maybe, find the life she deserves to have. One with parents, other kids to play with, and one where she never has to worry about the responsibilities of survival again; at least, until she's properly old enough to.

I feel like something bad is going to happen at Wellington and we'll play as Clementine once again in S3 because everyone just loves her too much, and if they don't make Clementine the main character, please don't ask me what I will do to TTG.

The only fault with Wellington is superstition. We don't know if something bad will happen, but Edith proves that it has good people in it. The warming attitude she has to AJ, and that she'd offer them twice the supplies of Clem refuses to stay, people she doesn't know, proves this. By giving them supplies and telling them to come back in a few months, she's saying that Wellington wants them to come back and try again. If they didn't want them to, they'd have just left Clem and Kenny with nothing.

Still, we can trust Edith way more than we can trust the family that shows up at Howe's.

If Clem doesn't show in S3, I'll still be happy to know that she's in Wellington. Whatever happens in S3, good, bad, or traumatizing, I'll be glad to know that Clem wouldn't be there to experience it. As long as she stays in Wellington, she won't have to worry about anything anymore.
