Season 3 Prediction Thread
Hey everyone,
SoulofaGremlin here. I've been a long time lurker of the forums, and I must have posted in it once or twice, because I didn't need to create a new profile just to make this thread.
Simply put, since a few days ago once I beat season two and found out there will be a season 3, all sorts of predictions of what the first episode might be have been plaguing me. I want to make this thread to share those ideas and make a place for people to post up their own predictions/wants for season 3.
First off, I think we should narrow down the endings to their common denominators. Everyone knows about the absolutes of Clem and AJ surviving, but there's one more common denominator that I think has been mostly overlooked.
Wellington.
After all, while it's only in the Kenny endings that Clem finds it right away, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in the Jane or Alone endings. It's there, just Clem isn't in it yet.
Key word being yet.
I believe that in order for AJ to survive, and better yet, be raised as a functional human being, he needs to be in an actual city, not scrounging from camp to camp, watching Walkers be blown apart before he's done teething. As anyone who has taken even the basics of Psychology will know what a child experiences in their earliest mental development will have lasting repercussions in their later life. He needs a steady supply of food, formula, a warm shelter, and a place of security. Not that he won't develop his own survival skills in his later life (around 9 to 12 like Clem) but he needs to survive till then. So, what he needs is not another camp like Howes, but a city like Wellington. A city stocked enough with supplies that they can give out duffle bags to visitors, have enough power to heat their homes (since that would be the first priority) and then power loudspeakers from the walls - oh, yeah, and big walls too, for security.
So - here's what I predict.
Season 3 will start off with Clem and AJ in Wellington after another three year time jump, putting Clem in her mid teens and making AJ a toddler. They'll be living alone in a room/apartment, and the first episode will be all about familiarizing ourselves with Wellington and some of the townsfolk. We'll learn about whether they grow their own food/have their own water, whether they have their own economy/market, how they generate electricity and how large the city actually is.
Just like in Season 2, Season 3 will be intentionally vague about what happened before. If you have the Alone ending, there will be some mention about how the two of them just showed up one day and wonder on how Clem and the baby survived on their own this long, if you've separated from Kenny than there'll be a line or two about him (maybe the gate guard will be sympathetic and assure Clem that he'll be back one day), if she came with Jane or Kenny they'll just be gone and there'll be implications that they were killed off-screen (maybe some of the townsfolk will apologize for "what happened" - leaving it deliberately vague), and maybe the family from Howes will be in there too, implying that Clem, Jane and them came to Wellington in the future.
So, no matter what ending you actually have, Telltale will manage to create a linear storyline where Clem and AJ's story continues. They don't need to create three separate stories for each of the different endings. Though Clem ended in different places at the end of Season 2, a time jump later and she'll be in Wellington, as any survivor must be in a stable city in order to survive six years after the apocalypse.
That's another thing I predict. After six years, I doubt there would be many people outside of safe zones like Wellington or other successful settlements. I suspect that most of the rest of the country will be filled with the undead or a few surviving bands of bandits, possibly cannibals since there's already problems with food. This will open up great scavenging opportunities for Wellington if they need to scavenge broken glass from windows, brick and concrete, or other raw materials for building that local scavengers in makeshift camps would not take.
This would be even better if they have working cars, which means they can scout out and scavenge at a larger range, load up their supplies and then hightail it out of there if they're about to be overrun by zombies or bandits.
So, outside of familiarizing ourselves with Wellington, I'd imagine Clem would also be going out into the Walker-infested world to seek supplies, or to once again convince the adults to take her seriously.
The last thing I imagine would work in a Wellington centered Season 3, is for there to be a actual threat against Wellington. Either from the outside, where we see multiple hordes (during the spring, where the snow wouldn't slow them down) shambling towards the wall and you have to shoot at them from above, or from within, where someone dies, and no one's around to stab them in the head, and they reanimate and start a outbreak. There might even be a murderer who just wants to see the world burn and so they're deliberately killing without getting the brain so Walkers can tear Wellington from the inside-out. So part of the Season may be Clem being involved in a serial murderer case.
So, these are some of the thoughts that have been rummaging around in my brain for the last couple of days.
What are yours?
