What the hell?

All of a sudden, people dont want Clem as S3 protagonist? Wtf is this? S1 revolved about protecting Clem, S2 about building her character and now S3 should get a new protagonist? Just no. So what if there are multiple endings? That doesnt mean her story is over. Telltale will pull something off, they're smart. Shes the reason TWDG is "famous".

    This.
More people need to realise this.

  • I agree with you, but everyone has their own opinion. I personally would love to see a teenaged Clementine being a hardcore survivalist in season 3. Im positive season 3 would blow our minds :)

Telltales TWD is all about Clem.
Personally I believe that we were always meant to play Clem. Season 1 was "just" the necessary setup. If we would have played Clem from the start it just wouldn't have worked.
So in my head it would make no sense at all changing protagonist again.

  • Yeah, teenage Clem wouldnt be bad, though I still prefer her this way. Shes a badass 11yo girl.

  • I'd rather not have such a large jump in time after Season 2. Its all about seeing her grow up in this world. So not witnessing such a large portion of her journey would "annoy" me.

  • Exactly. Sticking with Clem would be the best option.

  • Yeah, I also wouldnt like that big a time skip. But if Clem lives through Season 3, Season 4 would/will probably be Clem teenager. Though I think Telltale will end her story in Season 3.

  • My first reaction to ending after Season 3 would be "OH GOD I HOPE NOT". But who knows? It most likely hinges on the quality of the upcoming season and if telltale has more interesting stories to tell.

Does it automatically mean people (ingluding me) hate her if they don't want to see her as a protagonist anymore? No!

She could still be one of the main characters and- if telltale is gonna really work their asses dry- have same personality than in your Season 2 playtrough.

I usually want sequels when I feel stories are not yet complete.. And Clem's story I don't think is complete yet, She still has so much more potential..

  • I feel like Clementine's story has plenty of stuff still left to tell. After the two seasons being centered on Clementine's safety, it's a no brainer that she will be, once again, a main character in Season 3.

  • I know you dont hate her, but obviously dont love playing as Clem as much as I do. She has potential to become one of the greatest female protagonists.

  • Glad you do, I mean lets think logically.. Season 3 is already on its way so Telltale Clearly know where the story is heading. If season 2 was the last one with Clem I think they would of announced it.

  • And they also hinted Clem at IGN's episode 5 spoilercast. When the devs were asked about a choice for leaving the baby, they replied "we'll leave that to S3" or something very similar.

Yea I made a thread about it. They also said "We are obviously passing around ideas on how to continue it"

    IKR?

  • It clearly wouldn't make sense to have her not involved in Season 3, She is loved and has developed way too much as a character to be removed. Just think people need to realise this before panicking and starting petitions ETC... Telltale know this fact obviously.

  • How is she exactly the reason the game is famous?

I'm meh about her as the protagonist tbh. I liked her role in Season 1, but Season 2... I dunno man, I prefer playing with a character that I can actualy really relate (and I guess this is why Luke's death bothered me so much... I thought he was a really important character but he just died, and I couldn't do anything about it. Super depressing :/ ).

Then again, this is just my opinion.

  • I think that Clementine is becoming the face of this series and the way season 2 ended Telltale can't just skip to an new protagonist just like that it wouldn't make sense and plus alot people would get angry if they found off there choices didn't matter yet again and season 2 is already getting heat for that. If Telltale wanted to start with an new Protagonist they will have to reboot the series. Now people say "Why not start with somebody from the 400 days DLC?" Ok that's still an reboot because if Clementine is not involved in it in any way that's an reboot. Telltale has made some hints that she could return in season 3 even though they hadn't made it clear. People don't know that Telltale hasn't really explored many of the real good themes the walking dead has like wars etc if you read the comics you should know what I'm talking about. Telltale can tell any story they want with Clementine now. Season 1 and 2 basically just told the story on how Clementine has became an survivor.

  • When someone thinks of TWD, the most common thing that comes to their mind is Clem. Shes the representative of the game.

I don't know. I personally preferred it when Clementine was a supporting character, if I'm being honest. I think it'd be cool if it was that way again in season 3, so we can finally see if Telltale can pull off making our choices matter. Having Clem be the protag in season 2 pretty much made all of the development of season 1 pointless. I wanted to see how the way my Lee acted influenced Clementine, since that was a huge theme in the first season, but playing as her didn't allow for that. I'd like to see the differences in Clementine based on season one and season two choices and the only way that will happen is if we're not playing as her.

I'm not sure Telltale would be able to pull it off anyways. That's a lot of different Clementine lines/plots that they'd have to create to correspond with the harsh/empathetic/somewhere in between ways you could play your Lee and Clem.

How cool would that be? Clementine traveling with you again. And say you reach a point and are struggling with another person/group. If your Lee was ruthless or your Clementine was ruthless in season 2, Clem will haul off and shoot somebody without your permission to solve the problem whereas a soft Lee and soft season 2 Clem would mean she holds back, for better or for worse. That's the kind of plot divergence based on choices that I think would be awesome to see.

  • I like your clementine support, but how will she return? As protagonist? How will they resolve the fact that she's in wellington in one ending, in who knows where in another, with Kenny in a third, and with jane in a fourth and fifth. Just: 2 years later....... Jane dies Kenny dies the howes hardware family dies Wellington dies. Now we are by ourself again. Hmmmmmm... Seem familiar? Look, I like clementine. But guys..... IT'S OVER! They have five different endings, and nothing would ruin the story more than disregarding those and starting all five Clems in one place. Oh, you saved jane? Doesn't matter! Saved Kenny? Doesn't matter? They all die because this is season 3!

  • I see your point, but still think they'll continue with Clem. Who knows, maybe S3 will really branch.
