Sam the dog and other possible foreshadowing

Now that we're all the way through the season, I thought it'd be interesting to go back and take a look at past scenes that maybe connected to or foreshadowed later decisions.

I chose Sam specifically because I don't think his addition at the beginning was just a random thing just to make the players and Clementine miserable. What do you think his purpose was? Does what happened with him connect in any way to later events?

What else do you think might have been foreshadowing for later decisions?

  • I don't think he serves as forshadowing really. For me it was a reference to Lee because Sam was kind of in the same spot, although not turning he was in a position where he would eventually bleed out so it's a moral decision for you to put him out of his misery or spare yourself the pain of ending him.

  • He was just there so the cabin group thinks clem was bitten by a zambie and the whole ep 1 plot could happen

  • What do you think his purpose was?

To introduce the cabin group to Clementine, under a guise of mistrust. What reason would they have to lock Clementine in the shed if she wasn't bitten?

The dog represents something that's dangerous, untrustworthy, feral, deceitful, erratic, or might turn on you.

It's up to the player whether what's signified is ultimately Kenny or Jane or both.

...although even if you think it represents Kenny, you're supposed to be a non-garbage player of TWD and save him to redeem your past failures. Otherwise you get terrible endings that good players point and laugh at.

  • In Episode 2 in the lodge, Sartia is singing a song about a group of people in a snow storm. By the end of the game the group is in a snow storm, I don't if the song is foreshadowing or its just there.
