Raccoon Symbolism Discussion
Did anyone else notice after the new trailer with the raccoon in it and Amid the Ruins with the raccoon scene that there was a raccoon on the boat from Episode 1?
SYMBOLISM OF RACCOON:
It is clearly used as symbolism towards hope and life in the Walking Dead specifically, but I wanted to examine other meanings.
In some Indian tribes, the raccoon symbolizes curiosity, adaptability and resourcefulness.
They are nocturnal and also scrounge for food constantly, looking for a meal at any chance.
I also read that since raccoons like to protect their families, they represent a lot of aspects the game put forward:
"When you help others in this way without concern for self, you create a flow of abundance that keeps coming in as you give out, as long as you stay in balance. Fight for the underdog of your tribe. Take pride of yourself and family, showing much honor and respect to your elders and the people that have always been there for you. Do whatever it takes to keep self, family, and tribe safe and protected."
This is just a subject of talking about something I thought of, don't mean to be looking too deep. Any thoughts?

Clem is a raccoon. Confirmed.
How I didn´t see this before?
I looked up "Raccoon Symbolism" through google and I find this I will post it here :
http://spirit-animals.com/raccoon/
The Raccoon scene symbolizes Bonnie, Mike and Arvo, the three thieves getting away.
Now that I know this, my mission in Season 3 will be to find the raccoons and painfully exterminate them. >:(
I just wanna eat the shit out of that Raccoon to be honest.
Maybe I shouldn't have post the information
It's a symbolism for things you want to eat the shit out of,but can't.
Isn't there a scene where Mike, Bonnie and Clem try to hunt a racoon but it escapes and goes to its children?
Yeah then Mike eats the shit out of it while Clem eats it's babies. Scene fads to black.
How didn't i see it before.
[Inception music]
Raccoon shows up before clem gets bit by a dog, before Rebecca has the baby, and before the ZA happens.
What a symbol of hope and life that is...
It's a reference to Raccoon City from Resident Evil 4!
Well that's.. uh.. broad?
Sometimes I get a feeling that the things Telltale include in their games are too micromanaged. Are we getting overhead of ourselves, or is there really symbolism in the game? The 3 raccoons/3 thieves theory is spot on though.
You know, guys...sometimes a raccoon is just a raccoon.
The raccoon is a monument to all your sins.
yes but interesting
And there was much rejoicing.
Oh, I'm not denying that. Its just a lot to process.
fair enough your not much of a reader huh
It sort of showed up a lot, and is a bit interesting.
HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!!!!!
Stop toying with my emotions, XYAB. Half life 3 is never going to be confirmed sniff, sniff.
I'm sorry
Okay. But this time only.
Actually I can really delve into something if it piques my interest. This just kind of.. doesn't. No offense.
I won't take offense to that, cause its not my interest ether. I prefer reading fantasy and horror and online articles about music, poems and interviews about a person or a group that I am interested in.
like I said I saw this thread and to looked up "Raccoon Symbolism" through google and that is what I find, I realise some other people might find this interesting so I post in this thread. But its not something that I would read about normally. I don't mind myths but isn't want I would want to read about.
It is good material for this thread.
exactly, thank you ^_^
