why were the episode shorter?
all the episodes were an hour and a half long, the episodes for season 1 were 2 and half hours long except the finale which was like an hour and a half

Well we dont fully know, but theres lots of theories to why the most possible one that i think is legit is the idea they worked on 2 games at once instead of one. in fact they worked on 4..
Others say they got lazy, knew we would buy Season 2 anyways, etc.
I think they said they wanted the episodes to be able to be played in one sitting.
Which I could do for 2 hours, but oh well.
Because this season was less about exploration and character development and more about the action and putting you in tough situations. Also they were testing out this 90 minute sitting thing that received horrible feedback.
I'd guess because they were also working on The Wolf Among Us. Plus less hubs and a more cinematic approach.
Hopefully season 3 brings back hubs, which would result in longer episodes.
im hoping that when season 3 is out, thatll be the only game theyll focus on
Yes me too, Game of Thrones and Tales of Borderlands should be finished by late 2015 so thats a good sign as they can solely work on just Season 3.
I'm guessing at the lack of hubs, and lack of puzzles contributed considerably to the time loss.
In fairness, where Season 1 made up in time was mostly through controlling Lee and walking about talking to people, or completing puzzles such as the pharmacy, sharing out the food, or when you come across the train. Season 2 still had moments like that, but not as excessively and they didn't drag on quite as long either. I think this plays well with the whole "trust" idea, in that you the player barely know these characters even after a few episodes, just like Clem who's only known them for a few days (2-3 weeks by the end).
Other than that, Season 1 made up more time through a few extra conversation scenes between Lee and other characters, and a little bit of loitering to further develop the character too.
Though personally I would prefer the 2 hour episodes over the 90 minute ones. Even 20 more minutes of loitering and unnecessary conversations between Clem and other characters could've mitigated the lack of impact and effect for a lot of the "written-off" determinant characters in Season 2.
Thats what I want back, Those conversations.. We usually had many topics to pick while talking to that person. In season 2 that was restricted.
Don't forget that since they started work on TWD in 2011, they've gone from ~100 employees to 160+.
I would expect it to be different teams working on different games (writers and level designers) with some employees shifting as and when they're needed (such as animators and programmers).
