Theory: Survivors At Carver's Camp Season Finale
I've been thinking. In order to pass all our thoughts, we should see how others react to them.
At the Season 2 Finale, one of the several endings are to not shoot Jane, and forgive her. Doing this will result in Clem, AJ, and Jane arriving at Carver's Camp at Howe's. Once you arrive there, a group of three survivors encounters you. Upon seeing these three, they state that they are the parents of a child (whom they are with). Most people should find that hard to believe.
The father (Randy) had paler skin than the mother (Patricia), and their child (Gill) had darker skin than both of them. Sure, wide gene pool, but upon seeing their actions toward each other as they request to come in to Carver's Camp. Randy pushes Patricia's hand away from her as she tries touch him. These people aren't even family. They may have had a bigger group and were just scouting to ensure its safe to overrun. This can be seen if you refuse and Randy claims they could be "Dangerous", and that they will come back.
I think that these people spotted this camp earlier and tried to stage an emotional scene where they could guilt trip Clem and Jane to let them in. Little would they have known that the whole camp was deserted. And it is seen that Randy was holding a gun if you let him in. Sure, he may have taken that gun with him for protection, but who knows he didn't take it out on the refusal because Clem already did.

It is quite likely that they were scouts of a larger group. But I don't see how turning them away is any smarter than complying with them. Why would a little girl and woman want to make enemies with a much larger group, when they can actually cooperate with them? If you act unfriendly and turn away everyone, you deserve what you get.
As for their adoptive child? Everyone seemed cool with Lee practically becoming the father of a stranger's child.
