Amid the Ruins: Civil War references
Just throwing this out there, but I'm asking all of you from outside of the United States what your reactions were to the Civil War references. Did you understand them at first? Did they interest you? Did you have any feelings on them? (And maybe even broader, the whole franchise.)
I ask because the Girl from Aus made a mention of her unfamiliarity with the setting, so I'd like to get your thoughts on the matter.

I got the joke at first because I live in the dirty South. I thought it was a nice touch from Telltale and very realistic.
I thought it was pretty funny and somewhat thoughtful of Mike to realize that the jacket was from a bad era in US times. Of course Rebecca couldn't care less. For a few seconds, I mistook Mike for Lee when the Civil War reference came up.
I like it, it was an interesting comparison to their situation, and it was nice thinking of Lee and Omid exploring that museum
Civil war and the American Revolution have interested me for awhile, probably because I wish we'd gotten to have one here. I didn't understand the Confederate reference at first because I know nothing about that, but I guessed it was a race thing.
And I remembered, we have no famous events.
Did i understand them Yes
Did i like them, did not care
Feelings, no Now if it was a Vietnam memorial that would of made more of a impact because it more recent, and i could probably relate with those guys than guys from 1865.
I know nothing about the american civil war really, so it went over my head completely. The grey coat thing I didn't get until I read a forum about it. Might've been nice for Americans though. Would love to see an English character in series 3.
I honestly wish Amid The Ruins was about an actual civil war between Carver's group and Clem's. It would have made better use of the setting.
