Family Library Sharing (Steam Question)

I want to switch from the Xbox 360 release of The Walking Dead to the PC release. Since there's no save file transfer feature, I will have to replay the first two seasons and the 400 Days episode. This brings me to my question:

If I play all of the episodes using a friend's copy of the game through Steam's Family Library Sharing feature, is there any reason to believe that the save file will not work with season three when I purchase it? Has anyone tried this during the transition from season one to season two?
