Lions and snakes have no alternatives other than meat. Plus they don't have the same morals we do. It sucks, but there's no changing that.
Humans on the other hand can easily survive without meat. Meat requires animals to be killed as well, so by eating meat, you're saying animal slaughter is okay. It's not.
