What about the church?

What about this church the group was supposed to go to? After the Russian's fail mugging attempt they completely forgot about it and went to the house across the ice.

Well, the house was where Arvo led them, then everything kinda fell apart when they made it to the house.

  • Yeah, Im thinking if they went to the church instead, Luke would have lived.

  • Probably, but Mike and Bonnie would have still most likely left due to Kenny's behavior towards Arvo, and Luke could die anywhere with how his leg was.

    Yeah I guess, but have HOPE ;_;

Seriously, though so much could have been avoided just going to the church and not listening to Arvo, even if there was food at the house.

  • Who cares?

    What's done is done.

  • I guess so, ultimately the church idea must have been scrapped when they switched between writers for Episode 3 & 4 - Episode 5

Who cares? What's done is done.

  • Also, what happened to Luke's idea of sending some people forward to scavenge for supplies while the rest stay back for Rebecca? Why did they make us choose between the two instead of coming up with a compromise?

  • You're right... they totally scrapped almost every idea from episode 4 and made it from scratch!

  • They all think Kenny is nutjob, when all he wanted was to keep AJ and Clem safe.

He really was right about Arvo, trying to save his own skin...

  • Literally.

Secret Telltale Message: Go to church. It could save your life.

  • Kenny was the one who refused to go with Arvo.

  • Gonna be honest, I knew he was going to shoot Clementine before he even pulled that goddamn trigger. I had a gut feeling. As did Kenny, I guess.

  • If there was food or anything that Arvo's group hadn't taken or used, I'm sure he would have led them there first.

  • I really didn´t think he would since he shook so bad when pointing a gun at her in episode 4. Note to self, never assume again.

  • Was it really a shock that Arvo didn't care about anyone else? they all treated him like shit, he thought Clementine killed his sister, Jane threatened to rob him, Kenny brutally beat on him for no reason, and the only people left who were actually nice to him were Mike and Bonnie, not saying Luke was mean to him, but he was more neutral

I hope we see him in S3. I got some...issues to solve.

Note to yourself, also: He's a manipulator.

  • Mike was shot in the arm, he could still walk and move easily though, you could clearly see Luke not able to walk well after he was shot.

  • Fair's fair.

1/ iirc only kenny treated him like shit, everyone else actually bent backwards and sympathized with him, Mike was unusually nice to him. it quickly became clear to me why TTG let Mike live for as long as he did.. he is playing a similar role of the priest in the comics.

2/ his sister had Clem's group at gunpoint, what did he expect to happen?

3/ Jane threatened him AFTER he held Clem at gunpoint and refused to lower his weapon against an unarmed child

4/ Kenny did not beat him for "no reason", although some of his reasons are sketchy. He did not deserve to get pummeled but he was a prisoner, and an enemy.

5/ Arvo really didn't care about anyone else. At that point I was not sure what was his motivation to live, other than survival instincts. He makes zero attempt to communicate with anyone before or after the confrontations.

6/ I didn't really care for him but the moment he really made me angry was after Clem tried to save Luke and failed, when she enters the house soaking wet he gives her this dirty look as if to remind her "i still remember you killed my sister!". That was literally his only thought, despite witnessing people from the group dying in front of him, and Clem almost died trying to rescue them.

bonus/ Just before the gunfight, when he acted as translator he could have diffused the situation, but he chose to side with his friends and attempted to rob the group. Just because he didn't fire a shot doesn't absolve him of responsibility.

I wish they made more of an effort to humanize the Russians. They appeared to be stereotypical 'foreigners' who did not listen to reason, they acted rashly during the confrontation and let emotion cloud their judgment. Unless they were already hardened bandits who have done this before, I found it hard to believe they managed to survive this long without killing each other.

  • Yea well he got treated like shit... After he led his little gang to ambush Clem's group in the first place, Arvo brought this on himself.

  • After the night at the campfire, I'd say he walked pretty well. He was only limping, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with his demise. I certainly hope not. I'm pretty sure Clementine created that crack, as we see, and Luke probably stepped on it.

    Sigh.

    Goddamnit, Luke.
