Character Actions: ALVIN, the good, the bad, the debatable (SP!)

edited October 2014 in The Walking Dead

I just decided I'd make lists of some characters' decisions and actions in The Walking Dead Game series during the zombie apocalypse and share my perspective on how they are good, bad or debatable.

Fourth is Alvin (S2E1-S2E3)

Trying to side with Clementine (good) - Alvin didn't know Clementine and he didn't even have to try and side with her and yet he did, he wanted to side with Clementine but Rebecca stopped him from doing so, it's not Alvin's fault that he changed his mind when his wife makes a good point and when he has to look out for his own family.

Determinantly getting the supplies and juice box for Clementine (debatable) - Alvin did a good thing, he was helping a little girl who was bit... by a dog get medicine before she could've gotten infected, Alvin would betray his own group to help a total stranger and relying only on her honesty, he even gets her a juice box and we find out that they run out of juice boxes, we really see how kind Alvin is... well it depends on your tone with him, but also he turned his back from his own group, his family, he stole supplies that could've been needed by the group, in the zombie apocalypse you have to put your own group above others.

Trying to persuade Clementine to not tell the group about the food for Rebecca (debatable) - Alvin was worried about his wife and wanted to take care of her as she was pregnant and expecting, he had the right intentions and he has to look out for his own family above everyone else, it shows how much he loves Rebecca and shows more of his kind side, however, he still wanted to hide his intentions from the group, he had his own reasons in doing so and respectable reasons but he was trying to hide something from his own group, the very people who have helped taken care of him and his pregnant wife, it does lean more to the side of good than bad but it's still rather debatable.

Wanting to give up (debatable) - Alvin wanted to give up because he thought that his friend Carlos would get killed, despite his loving wife refusing his decision he wanted to ensure the safety of his friend despite his relationship with the Carver and the fact that he could've died by doing so, however, the group was in a bad situation, it was a moment of high tension, Rebecca had a good point as well, they shouldn't just give up when there's a chance to get out of the situation, looking for Kenny and Luke would provide some hope for the group, in no way would they have known what the outcomes would've been, the outcomes can be very similar as Walter is the only one who pays the price regardless of decision, either way is a loss for the group.

Determinantly providing a distraction for Clementine (good) - Even though Alvin was in bad shape and a chance was provided for escaping, he knew he couldn't take that chance, not only because he wasn't fit to move but because the escape of his friends was at stake when one of Carver's men started heading for the room, Alvin didn't have anything to prove and he didn't have to provide as a distraction for Clementine and yet regardless of what you ask Alvin to do, he provides safe passage for Clementine, yes he may have killed someone in doing so, but they both killed each other so it's rather even. This specific scene shows just how nice Alvin was, he didn't forget to put his group in front of him and didn't forget to ask Clementine to take care of his wife and child.
