What cemented your love for Telltale's TWD?

I'm curious as to what part of the game made you realize it was something completely unlike the show, and on an entirely different and superior league.

Personally I knew I was in for an absolute treat as soon as I witnessed the drug store scene in A New Day... That's the moment at which I was first bombarded with immense feels. Watching Lee glare down at his parent's death beds was horrendous, and the brief expression of joy he had when observing the family photo made it all the more heartbreaking. The following conversations with Clementine then decided to batter me with emotion even harder, and it was from there that I realized it was going to be a very bleak, depressing experience.

Comments

  • Probably because I really liked new characters and cared for them. I liked Kenny from the first conversation with him and I felt so bad in Season 1 when he was beleaved dead.

  • Starved for help....,, A new day was kinda boring but that episode caught my attention. Loads of action and really tough choices. I played it 10 times before Long Road Ahead was released. And that's how I decided to love the game

  • Clementine wishing me to "stay lucky".

For me it was starved for help and seeing Lee and Clem and I had to play it and fell in love with the game! :D

  • I was gifted this game by my sister for Christmas last year. I waited a couple days and sat down and began to play it. I was immersed in the atmosphere from the beginning. I had never played a game like this before, where you get to choose your dialogue and the characters can change opinions of you depending on what you do. After beating the final episode I nearly cried every time. Then I cum to thse forums and join them and I love TWD show more and I love the comic and the game and I love anything TWD.

  • Starved For Help, after the cliffhanger, I really screamed "NOOOOOOOO."

And that's when I was completely hooked.

  • Soon as Lee started his first conversation with a girl hidden in a tree, then that girl handed him the hammer which saved his life.... yeah I fell for the game. And Clem :)

  • A friend wanted me to play it, so she had to bribe me.

The drug store was a masterpiece. Being trapped with other survivors and discussing plans, protecting my adopted daughter Clementine, finding my dead family members, leaving to help Glenn rescue the girl, etc. made it very emotionally involving. The tension was so thick, you could cut it with a knife.

I hope TellTale creates more magic like that.

  • I liked the game because it was a unique twist to the Walking Dead universe that we hadn't seen yet. The story and characters were also amazing of course.

  • When I found out what happened to Mark in Starved For Help... I was hooked after that. I also remember when I completed the first season: I just stopped gaming for a week (a pretty unusual behavior for me), realizing that I had just played one of the best games, if not THE best game, ever in my life.

  • When Lee found Clementine.

    Boom. Instant love.

My first option to choose what I wanted to say.

    "Why do you say that?"

Edit: This looks like a reply. If it is, then it's not sorry :p

  • Long Road Ahead was one of my favorite video game experiences of all time. I think it was back then when I realized how different it is from not only the TV show but from most games in general.

  • I thought the game looked interesting, then when Lee found Clementine I became attached to both of them.

  • It is, haha.

    BUT HAI.
