(Poll) Does the action figure look weird?

edited October 2014 in The Walking Dead

I know that there's kind of already a thread on this, but I really want us to focus on something here.

I love how the action figure looks, but, well, like a lot of action figures these days, her face looks kinda off. Everything else is great, and I'll still buy it, but the face might be enough to put other people off from the purchase.

What do you guys think? Here's a poll.

  • I think it looks ok.

  • It could look like Ronnie Coleman and I'd still buy it just because it's a Clementine action figure. Looks great to me.

The entire thing looks pretty spot on except the cheek and jaw area.

You should link a picture of a close up of Clem's in-game face and a close up of the action figure counter part.

  • Sorry, I wouldn't buy it.

  • Good idea. Edited the OP.

  • I wouldn't buy it because it reminds me of too much of this.

  • I think its great. When it comes out, I'll be getting it.

  • Her hands look whiter than mine. And I'm white.

  • I think it's the lighting.

Looks silly. Why is there even an action figure in the first place? Lol

  • edited October 2014

    Yes :/

Not so much because of the face. I see what they were going for, but the hands... she's got hands as white as mine.

  • It looks weird to me.

  • the body and items look great the face is what throws me off alittle

    It looks weird to me.

  • It's not exactly what I wanted, I mean it looks OK but it's an action figure, what I wanted was one of those highly detailed figurines whose job is to look good rather than being posable, it's still OK but I wouldn't buy it I don't thing it would look good on my desk, Lee would be much easier to do that way but I wouldn't buy that either, not really what I'm looking for, it's still nice that it's going to exist though.

  • ugh... what is it? No way im touching that creepy thing let alone buying it

  • Meh they should have picked the Season 1 Clem, IMO.

Alright here is my final judgment. 7/10 Will buy. The chin is slightly more rounded on the figure. Not much, but it's still off putting. The eyes look a bit malformed, and the eyebrows are a different shape. Lastly, she is very white.

  • The face looks weird, and the stripes on her shirt is blue when it's supposed to be purple. I'll still buy it.

  • I laughed way too much at that...

  • Meh, when they make these sorts of things the face always seems to go wrong. It's just one of them things.

  • The face makes her look older by like 10 years but it looks cool.

  • I collect Macfarlane's other TWD action figures and they have really decreased in quality to the point where I don't buy the new waves anymore. They decreased the scale so it looks off compared to the older ones, and the paint/sculpturing job has really degraded.

Her face doesn't resemble Clem's that much and my complaints about the newer action figures seem to apply to this one. Even worse, the prototype always looks better than what the buyer actually gets, and considering the prototype doesn't look so great....

I just hope that somehow Neca can get their hands on the license and make the action figures. They did Borderlands action figures that looked awesome and had the same cell-shaded quality that TWDG does, so they could definitely pull off a Clem action figure we all deserve.

  • Didn't realize these existed! Might have to invest!

Looks like a toy figure I'd want to buy if I was still like 10 and my mother wouldn't allow my because my father would have an absolute shit-fit if I played with action figures of girls. Specifically remembering that happening with the Star Trek Deanna Troi action figure I wanted as a kid (even though I had Data... I mean come on...) And yes, I'm that old.

Well, that's a bit too much revisting my childhood for one night...

  • I understand the pessimism towards the action figure. It's not perfect. What I usually hear is "Her skin is too white" or "Her face is off" or "Her sleeves stripes are not blue". Despite the perceived flaws I will definitely buy it. I'm not really nit-picky. I do think the toy designers are taking another design approach to Clementine unlike the game version which is based off the character designs in the comic. I guess that's why you don't see the etching marks on the face of the action figure which is commonly seen on the characters from the game. It may not be the same Clementine from the game but it is McFarlane Toy's remixed version of the her. I don't have a problem with that because I respect a toy designers take on any fictional character

  • People all of macfarlane prototype action figure photos looked bad but the final product was a totally better version so this is 100 percent most likely test action figure image as we speak there making it more like clementine and such

Well the face is what throws me off more but this is a prototype so of course it isint gonna look fully like clementine yet

Her body is so out of proportion, to the point that it completely creeps me out.

I wish that it was Lee instead. I would buy a Lee figure rather than a Clementine figure in a heartbeat, no matter how goofy it would look.

  • What about a season 1 clementine and lee special box set? :)
