Do you think Lee could have been written in Mike's place?

Assuming Lee survived do you think he could have been written in Mike's place. I mean ofc he would have to be there the whole season and not at Carver's but the two have similar personalities although I don't see Lee abandoning Clem like that ever but it would be a huge shocker. Some of the things Mike says sounds like Lee.

  • Replacing Kenny with Lee would have been better, it might make the immense attachment make more sense also seeing Lee get gradually darker would be interesting

Mike is not like Lee apart from them both being black

  • Aren't they... ya know... urban?

  • Don't even start that. The way Mike tried to explain himself to Clem sounded similar to Lee also when commending Kenny for the beat down he took sounds like something Lee would say. And I could never see Lee losing mental stability in any way shape or form. Even when being rude and violent always maintained a level of serenity. He kept a cool head and was never shaken by any situation.

Lee can really lose it in some options, in some instances he just threatens people regardless, in ep 5 he threatens ben pretty bad after leaving clementine and that isnt even a choice

  • Don't you mean Episode 3 and what I meant was he seldom yells. Remember when he threatens to kill the cancer survivors unless they don't show him the way back he sounds almost monotone.

  • I think Nick could have easily taken Mike's place on certain parts. And I don't see really any similarities between Lee and Mike.

  • Considering that Mike got the character development of a juice box, I can't really say one way or another.

  • Because they're black? lol

  • A lot of Lee´s dialogue is optional so...nah.

  • Hey ImUrban... You know how to pick a lock, right?

  • Mike never reminded me of Lee, ever.

I do like the idea of Nick replacing Mike though. But if Nick replaced Mike and tried to leave I honestly think he'd try and take the kids, especially AJ because he and Rebecca seemed very close. Mike wasn't as attached to Clem and AJ but I feel like Nick would have been.

  • No, why would you say that?

  • I think most anyone could have replaced Mike. His role in the story is just "some guy". He comes off as a placeholder for other characters that they never got around to putting in the scene. Even his subtitle color is a faded light gray, as if he's just barely there.
  • Cause they're both black? Yeah dude, I was thinking the same thing even though Lee's personality is mostly determinant. So he only acts like a pussy like Mike does if you let him
  • I have to say a pussy isn't the first thing that crosses my mind in terms of Mike. He can overpower a walker with one arm in two seconds.

    Why... because you're racist?

    ;)

Other than them being black they weren't a lot alike.

  • No one can ever be like or replace Lee...

Lee would never leave Clem to die. End of topic.

    the two have similar personalities

I really don't think they do.I know it's up to the player to decide how their Lee acts in season 1 but even based on that I don't see any similarity. Lee had a lot more charisma, he was a conflicted character who always tried to hold the group together and who sacrificed himself so that a little girl could live.

I didn't know what to make of Mike in episode 3 because he first seemed to be very cold and mean, I didn't expect much from him. Then in episode 4 it got better and I really enjoyed the whole museum part and his racoon joke, his interactions with Bonnie. He seemed like a cool and reasonable guy and I felt like Clem could be safe around him. Then episode 5 happened and he changed all of a sudden,he barely had any interaction with Clem, he cared more about Arvo than the members of his own group and ultimately he agrees to abandon Clem, to steal the car that Kenny had repaired and to steal the only food they had. I think that even the most evil Lee would never do something like that.It even goes against everything that Lee represents. I found it funny how Mike pretends to care about Kenny bullying Arvo because it was wrong but then he is also ready to let two kids to die.

  • personally, i think the first video fits well, but i doubt nick would do what mike did

  • Actually I think it'd make more sense if it were Nick considering this would happen shortly after Luke's death. Between Nick's already disillusioned state, Kenny's psychotic behavior and Nick losing Luke, the closet remaining thing he had left to family, I can see him abandoning what remains of the group, rationalizing leaving them to fate is inconsequential because, as Nick would likely see it at this point, everyone he knows is going to die eventually. Might as well get a jump start on moving on...

  • Nick would have been a better fit. 100% guarantee. Nick and Mike have share the same character models. It would make sense for Nick to leave and ask Clem to go with him after Luke's death. Clem is the only family he would have left.

Completely agree with this. I don't know how they could write this in, but depending on your relationship with him in previous episodes, that determines if he stays with you or leaves with Arvo and Bonnie. Once Luke dies, he would be in a much more vulnerable place considering he's the last of his original group. Not to mention he's known Bonnie longer than anybody else there, and isn't a huge fan of Kenny (their relationship gets a little better in episode three but they would still be prone to butting heads). If she's a friend, Clementine and AJ are potentially the only reason why he would stay behind.

At least this would make your interactions with Nick have a slightly bigger impact (such as returning Pete's watch). Or instead of staying behind, if they really wanted to write him out, they could have him at least approach her about it - or hint at wanting to leave together.

I think Nick could have easily taken Mike's place on certain parts. And I don't see really any similarities between Lee and Mike.

  • because they're both black? Omid's personality is closer to Mike's.

  • edited October 2014

Just because he is black does not mean one could be substituted for the other. They aren't even similar characters.

  • This interaction earns you both +10000000000000 internets
