Around the time chapter one was being released, I decided to do the swamp from Scabb Island (from Monkey Island 2) in an updated way. I nearly finished it, but couldn't be bothered to. Here it is (incomplete):

Cool! Have you see mine swamp a few posts ago? It is one of my favourite scenes from all games! So creepy!

"How appropriate, you fight like a...OW!"

I've been dying to do some fanart, especially after seeing Ryan's designs and sketches! I changed Guybrush a little bit so I wouldn't feel like I was flat out copying Ryan, kind of wanted to give him my own spin.

No idea why he's fighting an effeminate pirate...he was supposed to be a generic bad guy and after I drew his pose I thought it'd be way funnier to give him a flamboyant personality.

Mandatory Murray cameo of course, since after Guybrush he's my favorite Monkey Island character :)

Here's a bigger version if you are interested:

BTW feel free to post your own captions for the image! Sword Fighting Insults are highly encouraged :D

well he had a bra in MI 2

It is possible that the bra was given to him by a lady friend.

What lady would be interested in Largo? Hmm... maybe Jumbeaux LaFeet's mother?

Maybe, but I doubt it would've worked on the voodoo doll. I guess it isn't that binding but still.

Seperate from what I wanted the LeChuck For (that'll come tomorrow)

Down in the Morgan appreciation thread I have decided to do a bit of fan art. But I figured this time I'd scan it in stages (yes I still do pen and Ink), oh and note, I'm not a very artistic sole, while not traced, this IS a snapshot of the action in Spinner Cay

So what do you think? Please don't judge too harshly ;)

It's good but you messed up the nose.
A pretty female nose in a cartoon drawing should be be drawn very very lightly. You basically stick with the suggestion of shade, not with the actual form. The more lines you add to a female face after a certain limit, the older/uglier it looks.
Here I am shamelessly relinking my own work as that happens to be the perfect example.

  • edited August 2009
Dude.. seriously, The nose was the LEAST of my concerns.

I don't mean to sound like I can't take criticism, but with your lines and style, you must at least have some form of training or do this like a hobby. For me, other than the Grog thing I posted a while ago this was the first time I'd picked up a pencil in 10ish years.

I get that it was a feminine nose, and I did the best I could with no real ability to shade that well as Mogan's nose is mostly defined by the shade and what isn't there.

way to one up me, BTW. lol
  • edited August 2009
I didn't mean to humiliate you or something.
It's just that the first thing that stuck me was the nose.
As for skill; Everyone needs to start somewhere. I just wanted to make a point that sometimes it is better to NOT add a line, even if it's there IRL. You were asking for options after all.
It actually took me more then 8 hours to make my version of Morgan, so no I am definitely NOT an art pro :)
Btw, whats up with the similarity here.
We both have the nick 'Bob the Fish' (but in different languages) and we both decided to do a Morgan fan art. Creepy!
  • edited August 2009
yeah I porbably could have left the pencil line there rather than ink it for a better effect.
I'll see what I can do with my next piece.

and the one upmanship I meant the posting of your amazing piece compared to my fairly amateur effort lol (plus it was a joke)
  • edited August 2009
I for one hate both versions..... just kidding.
  • edited August 2009
I like them both, but you should really spoiler tag them for those who haven't played episode two yet.
Also, Bobdevis, I find yours hysterical for some reason. Maybe because I pictured Guybrush's reaction to seeing Morgan randomly licking a sword. XD

Hehe. I just returned here to up the color version.

    moeganshadef.png

Btw the drawing is done in Inkscape. Coloring is done in The Gimp. Don't pay for Photoshop, kids. You (most likely) don't need it!

You should change her tongue to a different color it almost makes her look like she has a really fat bottom lip.... Like if Angelina Jolie was married to Ike turner kind of fat lip or something.

I'm working on a picture that combines characters from adventure games from Telltale and cousins (LucasArts and Autumn Moon) using fan art that I've already created along with new fan art. I was thinking of a way that I could tie Monkey Island into the collage, and came up with this. :)
