Coda "I get it now."
The mid season finale was so emotional and heartbreaking for me. I never expected that ending and I was crying for who knows how long..
Shortly before her death, Beth said "I get it now," to me, I think she meant "There's no way Noah will go free unless I'm dead. I'm going to prove that you don't have the same kind of power over me that you have over some of these people. I'm your equal now."
What did you think she meant?

I think she finally saw how fucked up Dawn was. She was manipulative and would turn a blind eye to anything just to save her own skin. Beth saw that Dawn would never stop using people and decided to end the cycle.
Imo I think her saying that tied into dawn killing her previous superior (name is escaping me)
So can we switch bad Luck brian with bad luck beth
"Attempts to kill first person ever......Dies"
I kinda think Beth finally saw through Dawn. Dawn thinks that people need someone to lead them. She thought that her predecessor, "gave up" so she killed him, to take the reigns. The other Cops obviously didn't like, or respect her. She was cracking under the pressure, that every leader has in the za. She used Beth to get rid of a couple of them, but I think she would've done it herself, if given the chance. I think she needs to prove to someone, that she does the things she does for the "greater good".(If she can prove it to them maybe she can believe it herself.) When Noah left, Beth was there. Since Beth was leaving, she needed Noah back. When Beth hugged Noah goodbye, she was ready to let him go. But Dawn just had to rub her nose in it with the little "I knew you'd be back", to Noah. I think that irked Beth just enough, for her to think, enough is enough.
"I don't cry anymore, Daryl."-RIP Beth
I think she meant: "I get it now! None of these people are gonna be free, until you're dead."
She realized that Dawn was obsessed at retaining control over everyone; which was a key to her own survival. The more people she had under her thumb, the odds of her staying alive went up. And if anyone threatened that, they'd end up dead.
Beth didn't have a death-wish, she was just wanting to free everyone from Dawn's control, which meant Dawn had to die.
Beth getting killed was a consequence of Beth's spur-of-the-moment decision to stab Dawn.
Unlike Beth, Dawn was trained how to fight, and how to take a punch.
She proved that when she was able to hold her own against a fellow officer, who was a man, and traditionally men are a lot more powerful than women.
If Dawn could go toe-to-toe with a guy, than Beth had zero-chance of killing her.
Without thinking, Beth made a decision that got her killed.
Not that Dawn didn't deserve to die, after-all she was very dangerous.
Personally, I was glad that Daryl avenged Beth.
And it was so fitting that he do so, as aside from Maggie, Daryl was closer to her than anyone else in the group, a bond that he had developed with her from their traveling together.
Like Beth explained, Dawn manipulated her to kill those guys. They were problems to Dawn, and she needed them gone.
In Beth's point of view, Dawn was a problem for her. And she needed her gone.
I'ma go ahead and say looking back, it was an annoying twist because somebody needed to die in mid-season. Dawn and Beth start getting buddy buddy in the middle of the episode, and if Dawn was supposed to be such a tyrant, what about the other cops that tried to rape Beth and beat up on the old orderly? It seemed like there were a whole bunch of cops jockeying for power. Not that Dawn was a good person or wasn't completely Machiavellian about it, but they threw out all nuance of their relationship and of the other characters and suddenly made Dawn the evil mastermind responsible for the corruption (which Beth 'now gets').
Plus it's incredibly stupid for her to stab Dawn like that, because how does she know there isn't going to be a massive firefight. (Not to mention, if you get a chance to stab somebody with a pair of scissors, go for the neck; don't try to go through their bulletproof vest...) She was just lucky not-Carmela Soprano was there to get everyone to put their guns down.
Not to mention, I saw a good post online - Noah had no reason to be there and they had no reason to let the officers know Noah was with them. Daryl saw Beth get picked up by the car, and went after them with Carol, Daryl came back and that's how they knew about the hospital, end of story.
