The multiple playable characters has been discussed several times before (I myself created a thread like this a few weeks back). In my opinion, no, TWD has worked well with only one protagonist, why change that.
Now more than 5 episodes is something I can get on board with. There should be 6 episodes for Season 3, mainly because they can spend the first episode on your specific ending and then have the rest of the season play out like a normal, 5 episode season.
